The Old Course at St Andrews and I met in May of 2000. Like all golfers, I had often fantasized about playing at the, «Home of Golf». We played in 3 ½ hours and absolutely had thee greatest time. Our foursome included an attorney from Southern California and two gents from London. My score of 41– 41 included birdies on #2 and #9. A triple bogey on a front side par 5, was my only blemish. My caddy was a regular at St Andrews. Andy knew the course like the back of his hand. We had our picture taken on the famous Swilken Bridge at #18. As luck would have it, Mr Peter Aliss, the highly respected BBC golf analyst was nearby. Peter was delighted to join us for our photo shoot. After a much needed afternoon nap at my B & B, a delicious sausage, mushroom and pepperoni pizza at Ziggy’s, in the village of St Andrew’s, was next on my agenda. I recall a couple of smooth and mellow pints helped sooth the nerves. During dinner, Jeremy and his girlfriend Lorraine, seated at the next table, started a conversation with me about golf… of all things. After a bit, Jeremy invited me to join him in a few days, to play his course in Forres, Scotland. Lorraine called her parents, who owned a B & B in Forres and arranged lodging. I ACCEPTEDBOTHINVITES !! My golfing trip of a lifetime, was off to a magnificent start.

Good good and very good server! Can’t remember her name but she was tall and blonde. Was very nice to me and Dad for our last dinner on the golf trip. We stayed next door at the Shandon house(b&b) which is a very FANTASTIC place with a wonderful husband and wife running it :-)

Good burgers and ribs! Small place so fills up quickly. Suggest making a reservation during the busy season.

Found the food to be overpriced and nothing special. The atmosphere was cheesy and crowded. There are many other restaurants in St Andrews that are much better and better value that are not touristy than this place.

I’m baffled… Went here going by Unilocal reviews and was pretty disappointed to say the least, I’m not a fan of Hard Rock being a real rocker but I know this place is nothing like it! In short it’s pretty corny and the food was okay for a late night burger shop but not the price they were asking. Can’t fault the service. If your visiting St Andrews and want a nice meal out I would go elsewhere… like Zizzi, it’s the opposite end of the scale!

What a find! I was staying with a friend who lives in Crail, and we decided to live life on the edge and go out for dinner on a week night. Not stopping there, we hopped in the car and made the 15 minute drive to St Andrews, as a friend had recommended this place to me. The friendly and welcoming staff were an immediate bonus, and really set us up for a pleasant meal. We had no problem getting a table, but the place was by no means empty, and had a nice buzz about it — sometimes difficult to find midweek. The vibe is slightly Hard Rock Café-ish, but not quite so blatant and in your face. And, unlike HRC the background music is present but considerate enough to allow you to easily hold a conversation — a mealtime must for me. The portions are very generous, and cost about £8 — £12. I opted for veggie fajitas(a brave choice as I make a mean fajita myself) and was stuffed to the brim with yummy fajitas 20 minutes later. All the trimmings were generous too. If your a burger fan, there are about 20(nope, not an exaggeration) different burgers to choose from. They also serve local beer to wash it down with too! A really nice place to sit and have a meal. Highly recommend!

Ziggys has great food, huge portions and good value for money. It is a small restaurant so make sure that you book as it is always busy. I have never been disappointed with the food and the staff are friendly. The only problem is that the tables are packed in quite closely together so there is not much room!

The burgers here are amazing! The only problem with Ziggy’s is probably that it is so small. You should book ahead to avoid disappointment, especially if you’re with a large party! The chocolate sundaes are also particularly impressive. It has a lovely atmosphere

This restaurant has become so famous that it is as popular with American tourists as it is with locals. Although it is slightly pricey for the menu of tex-mex burgers and burritos, it more than makes up for the cost in charisma. The retro feel adds to the charm and it is great to see your burger cooking in the kitchen(although it can get a bit smoky inside).

This is an individual take on a Hard Rock Café style restaurant — the walls are covered with Beatles album artwork and photographs, and it makes for a great atmosphere. There is pleny to look at while you wait for your food. Ziggys is popular with students and families, so it is worth phoning to book before you get there as it is often book up. The food is american style burgers, steaks etc but tasty and classily served. It is not the cheapest restaurant in town, but the food is good quality and it is worth what you pay for it. The restaurant itself is set back from the main road on south street, and while it is small, it is intimate and a nice place.
