As an artist working in acrylic on canvas and charcoal on paper I’ve just moved from The Turn of the Tide Studio in St Just near Penzance. My new studio, The Lanherne Studio, is at this stage under construction and is due to be installed in mid October. It will only be open to the public during occasional open studio weeks and then usually just by appointment.
Meanwhile my on-line presence at hendersonsmith.co.uk continues to develop and gives you access to images of the full range of my work. Please call in there and enjoy looking around!
History
Established in 2013.
The pre-history of The Lanherne Studio involves 14+ years at The Turn of the Tide Studio at St Just near Penzance. I’d lived there since 1986. At first in the summer of ’86 my wife and I opened it as Visions and Journeys Gallery and some 20+ other artists from that part of Cornwall were to join us in exhibiting their work.
Then from ’93, with my teaching commitments taking up huge amounts of time and energy, it became unfeasible to continue the gallery in that form so it closed from ’93 to ’98 eventually re-opening as The Turn of the Tide Studio and enabling me to re-establish my painting career when the opportunity to leave teaching came in ’99.
From 2001 to ’12 I was able to use The Turn of the Tide Studio as a base from which seven collections of paintings and drawings have gone out into the world as solo exhibitions at galleries in St Ives, Bodmin, Falmouth, Bath, Penzance and London.
Now we both feel that the time has arrived for a fresh start and new inspiration!
