B & Q

I really like B&Q since they opened this huge store in Stevenage. It’s so big in fact that it has its own multi-​story car park attached to it! I love being able to drive right up close to one of the entrances (it has two, one on each level) and being able to bring any supplies back to my car in a trolley quickly and easily. The staff inside are really extremely helpful and I’ve had a brilliant level of assistance on several occasions in there. In fact one woman who helped me choose all my decorating materials when I visited the store in April of this year remembered me when I returned for a few extra bits six weeks later and asked how I was getting on. I got a superb level of personal service and was able to quickly locate everything I needed for the decorating job at hand. I thought the prices were extremely reasonable too and doubt many places could beat them on their prices, product range or service.

There are quite a few good hardware stores in Stevenage and the old B&Q on the outskirts certainly wasn’t one of them. Now within a 500 metre radius there is Wickes, Homebase and the new B&Q. I used to end up going to Wickes all the time but since the new B&Q has opened I don’t seem to go anywhere else. The place is enormous, really. It has a bit of everything on the building side of things downstairs from raw materials, tools and screws, nails etc and fence panels, windows, doors and loads more. Upstairs has more furniture, garden stuff and even a café. If you can’t find it here then you won’t find it in any of the hardware stores in town. The only down side to the place is that the car park is really badly designed and has tight spaces and always seems to be pretty busy. Maybe best to park over the road and stroll in if you aren’t picking up anything big.

The new B&Q in Stevenage is huge and they sell loads of stuff! They sell kitchens, bathrooms, home interior accessories, christmas decorations, plus their usual extensive range of paint and DIY supplies. The new brance in Stevenage has a light and airy feel to it, and it’s a nice place to shop in. It doesn’t make you feel claustrophic like a lot of places do, and there’s plenty of room to get a pushchair around. They also have a reasonably good café & their carpark is nice and big.

Great big store that sells lots of household products. Kitchens, bathrooms, light fittings, lots of paint. Wood, lots of building materials. If your doing any DIY I suggest you visist this store. Lots of friendly, helpful staff here.
