I’ve just seen the most fantastic music show here with tickets I won out of the Welwyn Hatfield Times! The Hair Rock Experience featured a band playing rock music from the 1980s. Really fantastic. I have to say I think the band were worth more than a regional leisure centre — much more! Everyone got up and had a boogie in the Gordon Craig Theatre — the music was so fantastic. Interspersed with 1980s news items like The Archbishop of Canterbury chanting Charles’ and Di’s wedding vows and Thatcher announcing the invasion of the Falklands (I’ve been there twice for the day on a cruise ship!). Wonderful. I’ve also been here for a tour of the 1990s boyband 911 which I also won.
The theatre area has a bar and a café and there are ashtrays outside the doors so it’s easy to have a cigarette. Not very nice looking and in the middle of a concrete jungle but don’t let the appearance of the place make you judge the quality of the shows inside.

Stevenage leisure centre has something for everyone ranging form a variety of musicals, plays films, seasonal productions, fitness, workshops and café there’s something for everyone to enjoy. All you need to do is pick up a brochure to find out what is going. The clubs for children are always something different there is usually a wide range of topics and always lots of fun keeping the children entertained. Whilst the parents can relax in the bar or restaurant. It’s easily located near bus and train station. With ample parking on its doorstep. You can book a meal before you see a show so you have a great night out. The only con to this place as it can be a bit pricy for performances and workshops and you need to book early as places are full early especially pantomime performances with school trips.
