Back in the day the blacksmiths would start to fill up from early afternoon with workers in boots. With a vintage jukebox it attracted a senior crowd who would entertain themselves singing 60’s songs and drinking real ale. The previous landlord refused to put lager on tap, in the end he relented to please the womenfolk but insisted that if they had to have a lager on it would be tenants extra strength and nothing less. The years have passed, landlords have been and gone, two rooms have been knocked into one, the décor and furniture have been upgraded and what’s that? A pool table! The clientele mix has adjusted and a younger crowd have started to drink here, the old favourites are still here but the sales of Cider are on the up. It’s a great pub that has almost popped straight out of an episode of Emmerdale.
