Best-One looks like a chain but is actually some kind of independent retailers club, which is quite cool. My local features a Halal butcher which is great — the chicken I buy is fresh and cheaper than ASDA(they do some pre-spiced but I wasn’t that keen on the tikka flavour). Fruit & veg is also on a par price wise although it’s not top quality. Otherwise it’s your standard local mini-market type fare — a lot of junk food in the medium price range but also a few decent fresh things e.g. wraps and hummus(again latter is not much more expensive than ASDA). Recently Best-One displeased me by selling some dodgy baklava that made me sick and imposing a blanket £1.50 charge on credit card transactions, which is ridiculous, but overall I’m glad it’s nearby and I definitely support the butcher. Update: now has a free cash machine outside
