If your night has come to an end and you want a feed, this is the only place in Sutton Coldfield to head to. Fresh pizzas are cooked to order as well As chicken, fish and kebabs! The staff are fantastic, friendly and efficient. There are plenty of parole looking after the customer and the atmosphere is safe and friendly.

Oh Papa’s — don’t preach to me with your offers in the window… ‘doner’ you know I was an early convert? This was Sutton Coldfield’s first dedicated kebab house and how it was needed — it saw a pitta(or naan) sized gap in the market and filled it with chilli sauce and the greatest question you can be asked after midnight: «Salad, mate?» While its late licence would seem to set of alarm bells, providing a bottle neck for the chucking-out-time crowd, it seems to have remarkably avoided drunken rabbles — and that’s with plenty of seating to keep pickled customers gathered as they eat. Three things set the place apart from its kebabby peers: the venue is bright and airy, the staff are genuinely friendly and chatty, and while the food may satisfy that craving for ‘dirty food’, the fare is anything but… It all seems relatively fat-free and certainly fresh. So much so that rather than a mêlée at 2am, it has a thriving after-school/work customer base and ticks the box of those who got to 9pm and never found the will to cook. Pizza is also on offer, and yet while it’s nearly impossible to have bad pizza anywhere, it’s just not quite as good as your favourite slice ‘n’ crust. It will do though, even if its largest can’t quite match the tractor wheel circumference you craved. Why do the staff seem to always have a smile on their face, then? It’s because they know most of their business is repeat trade; you won’t go just once. No chips on the shoulder then, just plenty in your polystyrene tray.

Pizza I’m not a great fan of, Kebabs however, is more my thing. Papas in Sutton provide both but I opt for the perfect snack just when it’s needed most, at the end of a long day or after a few pints. I’m talking about a Kebab. Freshly prepared while you wait with plenty of hot moist meat, plenty of the healthy stuff, salad and loads of chilli sauce. All for £3.75. The perfect way to round off a night out. Papas is worth every penny. Until next time.
