We were cold, we were hungry and we were late for lunch of any kind(3pm). So we wandered in here without much hope and were blown away. The place is small, but really cosy and warm. There are loads of interesting things to look at and be tempted by. We ordered a pot of tea for two, a tuna sandwich for me and the beetroot soup for my father. The tea came in, quite possibly, the largest teapot I have ever seen, and it was delicious! THEYHADSKIMMEDMILK!!! :-) :-) :-) and used tea-pigs teabags, which I had not tried before, but am definitely using from now on — it truly was that delicious. The tuna sandwich was extremely substantial, made on granary bread and containing some fantastic tuna. The beetroot soup was home made, warm and delicious. It worked out really well — my father had a quarter of my sandwich and that combined with his soup made a perfect sized lunch. I could easily have got away with only half a sandwich(they are quite hefty), but it was delicious and I was being greedy! The service was so friendly, so lovely and homey that we may well go back there soon, even though it’s a bit far to drive just for lunch. Side note, if you are in Tenterden, Chapel Down and Bibbenden vineyards are well worth a visit.
