Padgate Rose Restaurant

Great service, food was lovely and was served fast and hot.
Would have liked a little longer at beginning to enjoy complimentary crackers and for the staff not to assume we had finished because we were taking a break and having a chat.
I would say the only disappointment was the take out menu was different to the menu in house with the costs being alotbhigjer for the banquets.
Cannot say anything would stop me from going back though.

Very nice food, lots of choice the mini banquet is a favourite of mine with the chicken & sweetcorn soup to start, then little starters the honey ribs are perfect and the prawn crackers are very tasty. There are lots of main meals to choose from including duck, fillet steak in cantonese sauce which is delicious. The staff are very friendly and can’t do enough for you, the food comes quick but they don’t rush you. The appetisers are nice and they do a beautiful aromatic crispy duck pancakes worth trying! They also offer english meals to people who are not too fussed on chinese food, steaks, chicken nuggets and much more. This is good for families who might have children that don’t like chinese food. The restaurant is very relaxing and the décor inside is beautiful with chinese cats and lanterns. The prices are average for a restaurant main meals start from £7.00 and the mini banquet is £16.80 which you get a lot for your money. Overall a very nice restaurant, i am a regular as i enjoy the food and service i recommend to everyone :)

I can testify that the restaurant at the Padgate Rose is every bit as good as the above reviewer says the takeaway is! We ordered duck and sweet and sour chicken, and both were very good — the meat wasn’t fatty (as duck in particular can be) and the sauces they were prepared in were lovely without being greasy or too sticky. The food was served on hot plates which helped to keep it warm whilst we took our time, and we were offered a choice of chopsticks or Western cutlery. The décor was very Chinese, with lots of red and gold and dragons everywhere. The staff were very friendly and even gave us calenders with the Chinese animals on it, which was a nice touch.

An excellent chinese restaurant, serving superb food with good, quick service.
Padgate Rose also do takeaways over the phone or in person, with the same high standard of food.
I can recommend all of their usual meals, foo yung and chop suey being bog standard fare in my eyes, they are usually a good indicator of the rest of the menu. I know of one local to St Helens where the locals describe the chop suey as elasic bands with bits in. The Padgate Rose serves a chop suey with well cooked noodles and tasty meats (or vegetarian alternative).
I have had many ‘phone orders from here and never been disappointed.
The restaurant side, unfortunately so far, I have to rely on what friends have told me, as I’ve never had the opportunity to test it out.
All reports are that the food is excellent quality and the service matches — they have all said that they have no hesitation in going back nor of recommending it to others.
