I could cry just talking about how much I love Pizza Express. In the beginning I only came because of Orange Wednesday’s 241 offers but eventually I discovered that my fiancée loves it too so we’re officially now people who will make up any excuse to eat at Pizza Express. The pizzas here are delicious! Boy I really hope my Italian friends never read this… I prefer the Romana pizzas to the regular ones, they have a thinner base although can look menacingly large as a result. Generally and to the delight of my friends, I prefer to eat the salads. The cruel mockery which accompanies this choice is completely uncalled for because the salad comes with a side of pizza dough slices! It’s like eating a pizza without the cheese! I shouldn’t have to defend myself anyway because the salads here are delicious and filling. Being relatively aversive to large amounts of sweet foods, I am a huge fan of their dolcettis. Small desserts which come with a cup of coffee of your choice. The mascarpone and figs in a spiced wine reduction with an espresso is just enough to satisfy a sweet tooth and is a real treat that I haven’t been able to find anywhere else. I believe there is also an option where the dolcetti is a scoop of ice cream which means you can essentially make your own affogato. Woop!

Pizza Express have gluten free pizzas now! Last time I was in London they told me to bring in my own GF pizza base, so it’s great to be able to now get a complete meal! The pizzas were absolutely delicious too, the pizza bases were yummy, and the toppings perfect. I’d like to see more gluten free options on the dessert menu. I’m a big brownie fan, but was gutted when I realised the only chocolate-y desert you could order was ‘bite sized’ and had to be ordered with a hot drink. The gluten free chocolate brownie would make a perfect GF dessert with a larger slice and some ice cream or something :) otherwise love this place!
