Description

Specialties

A family owned business for over 25 years, The Lamplighter has built an enviable reputation throughout the area for consistently great produce and the highest levels of customer service. One of the premier bars and restaurants in Windermere, offering a superb selection of food and beverage with the beauty of the Lake District as a backdrop.

British Comfort food at its best, using locally sourced and homecooked produce. We specialise in meat and fish dishes and always strive to be different. Most recently we have launched our unique Sunday lunch experience, «Dad carves!» showcasing the very best cuts of Lakeland meat that the area has to offer (further details of which can be found on the website). Our extensive wine list and selection of draft beers and ales complement such dishes as Lancashire Beef Suet Pudding, Colchester Oysters with Champagne vinaigrette, 2kg Turbot to share and filleted at your table or our 1kg Wing Rib with all of the accompaniments.

History

Established in 1988.

Opened in 1988 by Tony and Sue Tasker, The Lamplighter has now been taken over by brothers James & Alistair Tasker with a combined experience of over 35 years experience in the hospitality industry, having worked in such venues as The Dorchester, Claridge’s and The Savoy. All this knowledge has been adapted to fit the mould of The Lamplighter and offer our guests the very best in food, beverage and customer service. All of our food is homecooked and focused on traditional British dishes. We are best known for our meat that is sourced from Lakeland Suppliers and our fish that is delivered daily from Fleetwood. The Locals choice for over 25 years!
