Comfy and friendly pub that has about 5 distinct seating areas within it. Only seemingly 3 real ales on tap but quite an extensive pub food menu as well as a number of daily specials.
We had a dinner and a lunch here and the quality was variable — for one meal sweet potato chips were in a number of cases undercooked yet the fish and chips proved to be well cooked and in fact such a large portion as to remain unfinished.
Table service was a tad slow each time although for the lunch we had placed the order prior to Noon, the official lunch start time. Having such a large array of sauces available is a good feature but having to carry seven of them around & swap between tables is something that should be considered for change.

Having just gone through other reviews I can’t believe that nobody has mentioned the complete lack of bar staff irrespective of the time. Don’t really use the pub anymore as I seem to spend more time waiting for drinks than I do drinking them. Probably just as well due to the price of them. The food seems to be up and down. I’ve had decent meals in there but equally some poor ones. My advice would be to get yourself down to the Lion in Brewood. Not much difference in price and never had a bad experience.

I used to go to this pub regularly for over a year; often 2 or 3 times a week. I will not be returning for the following reasons:
1. I opened a tab and paid the bill afterwards but the money was taken by them again a few days later. When I went for a refund they showed me an unsigned receipt that they had put through without me present but has selected the present option. This appears common as they asked if i was about 5 different people before I managed to tell my details.
2. The food and drink are both pricey for the standard of service and quality of food.
3. The staff are not particularly friendly nor helpful. The manager thinks that crude, sexist jokes are banter. The atmosphere is sterile.

Fabulous place just off the main Stafford Road. Right on the canal so lovely place to sit outside on a sunny day and watch the barges going past. Real ales and good food here. Plenty of parking. Gets busy in summer with families.

Lovely pub just outside of wolves off the stafford rd. Nice inside, friendly staff and amazing food/​menu. Overlooks the canal with outside seating. small carpark though
