History

Established in 2013.

I trained for 3 years within a number of established small to medium sized chartered accountancy practices in the West Midlands.

I qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) in December 2001 and became a Fellow of the institute (FCCA) and Registered Auditor having gained over 10 years post qualification experience.

I effectively dealt with the compliance needs of small to medium sized businesses with turnover to £20m however also branched into a lot of niche areas such as Charities, Solicitors and Financial Services which require a regulatory and compliance audit.

I do not see myself as a traditional accountant because I enjoy getting involved with the clients business and having an impact on its direction.

I learned that clients require a trusted advisor, not an inspector.

Compliance is simply a by-product of the work I do.

Business Owner

The usual scenario is for a chartered accountant to train in public practice and stay in public practice — not me!

I worked for the Audit Commission for 8 years as a ‘Principal Auditor and Technical Specialist’ until its demise in October 2012 and Grant Thornton, gaining significant exposure to the audit of large Local Government and Health bodies.

I successfully managed statutory audits for: —

West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority

West Midlands Passenger Transport Executive (Centro)

West Midlands Passenger Transport Authority Pension Fund

Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council

Birmingham City Council

Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

West Midlands Strategic Health Authority
