Specialties

Welcome to our relaxing garden where you can stroll through beautiful flowers.

History

Established in 1994.

Built in 1759, Helmsley Walled Garden is a five acre garden sitting beneath the imposing ruins of Helmsley Castle. It provided the vegetables, fruit and flowers for the table of Duncombe Park until just after World War 1 when it was leased as market garden. Abandoned after it closed its doors for the final time in 1984, it fell into dereliction. Restoration started in 1994 and since then the Garden has gone from strength to strength through the dedication and care of staff and volunteers.

Now the Garden is vibrant with colour and visitors can stay as long as they like to enjoy the garden. Enjoy the delicious cakes and salads of the Vinehouse Café, shop for plants in our packed Plant Centre and browse for gifts in our shop. Come and enjoy a day at Helmsley Walled Garden. There is full disabled access and dogs are welcome.

Opening in 2014 — April 1st to 31st October, 10am till 5pm.
