The Judges Lodging

Came to the judges for Xmas dinner, only ever been for beer before so inside was a nice change… However, first impression, overwhelming smell of fish, in fact I think I noticed this when going into the bar previously but didn’t think anything of it.
Food was very bland, almost works canteen, not much taste to it at all, though the next table along had rather nice looking fish and chips
Beer was frankly awful, the first pint I had was very flat, I would say this was down to a combination of badly washed glassware and maybe the overall room temp (stifling)
Second pint was better, not as flat, but, and here’s the best but, the waitress came over to ask if we’d like any more drinks, I replied I’m fine thanks at the minute, to which she replies ‘ok I’ll just clear some of these empties’ and swiped my pint pot off the table, despite it being the only glass on there that actually still had some beer in it, she grabbed it so quick I barely had a chance to say ‘hey, hang on!‘
Oh, many my usual complaint, just one standing pot in the gents loos, c’mon, should have to queue to take a Jimmy in 2015, sort out the facilities
Not sure I’d be back, it certainly doesn’t live up to the hype that surrounds the place, average food, bad beer.

Everyone loves it in here. It’s quite small — so on a very busy night, you notice it. But it’s still a great place.

Very nice hotel just done out in November 2012. Rooms are very nice and clean. Great place for easy access to York centre.

This Hotel is brilliant it was worth every penny me and my wife staid for 3nights and it was incredible, the bed was comfy as, the room had a nice feel to it and the bath had a jacuzzi setting what more do you need?! We had an incredible time. The staff were lovely we had complementary breakfast in bed every morning and the catered it for Gluten Free, I would highly recommend staying here it was very reasonably priced for what we got and how we were treated the bathrooms were the nicest of any I have been in for a hotel of this price, it was all grohe bathroom taps shower an bath etc it was brilliant very luxury for good price, just to end, it had a big jacuzzi bath it was AWSOME! Very nice location it is close to everything, lovely staff and there is also a nice pub downstairs.

It was close to everything and I did spend a fair amount of time downstairs in the bar. At the time I was here the rooms were quite obviously not intentionally made for modern conveniences. The bathroom was a strange afterthought that looked like a very large box was left in the room. If you are traveling for work, you will get to know your traveling companions habits quickly.
