My kids and I went this weekend. They LOVED it. They were hooked on sifting through the sand for semi-precious stones. We did the $ 15 dollar buckets. The quantity and size of the stones/gems made it a good value. No regrets at all. We’ll be coming back again when my kids earn the trip, and we’ll probably do a birthday there as well. Oh yeah, I was intrigued and the staff were knowledgeable and patient like the earlier reviewer noted.(Jim the owner was there; Meredith was helping my kids out) Thanks! And in case anyone wants to know why I gave 4 stars, well, the description to the right of the 4 stars is how I feel: «Yay! I’m a fan.»

This place should be on your must do list if you have children or grandchildren under 16. Whenever any of our five are in town, they start immediately, «can we go to the rock store?» The set up is like panning for gold but they have buckets full of semi-precious stones pack in sand and a sluice for screening out the treasures. Fun for the entire family! The staff are endlessly patient, and quite knowledgeable about the gems.

So much fun and the staff was great! Next time I might bring the kids :) This was my second visit and I got a bucket to sift through. It was very relaxing and made me feel like a kid. You definitely get more for your money with a bucket, however their tumbled rocks are beautiful and they are a fair price. They also have unique gift and craft ideas.
