Ordered online from them and when went to pick it up the business was closed and was a different name.

I got the teriyaki bento dinners for my family and paid a hefty sum for them. When we looked at the«bento boxes» we were shocked. It was flavorless chicken chunks with mixed vegetables, no teriyaki sauce, potstickers, and fried rice. The sushi and pot stickers looked store bought. Every bento box we have ever eaten consisted of Teriyaki grilled chicken, tempura fried vegetables, fresh sushi, and steamed rice. This dinner was disappointing and we won’t be back.

I got the chicken hibachi dinner meal. It was only $ 7 and you get quite a bit of food. It’s on the same level of food amount as chipotle. I would probably go again.

Moldy, rotten iced tea, which thankfully I only took one small sip of. Sushi was bland and flavorless, slightly worse than the kind you can get at HEB or United. Over all a depressing experience.

Ordered 3 different sushi rolls — crab, spicy crab and avocado. Really not impressed at all with either. I gave two stars based on price alone. I would not recommend. As someone before mentioned, HEB has much better sushi and Bonzai, as well. This place was completely EMPTY at lunch — that says something… the cashier had to open her personal wallet and take money out of the«tip jar» to make change for my 20. I don’t expect them to remain open much longer.

Love Ichiban and they deliver to my work place which makes me like them more. I like that you can see them making your food and everything looks clean. One negative is when they get behind they are behind and will take forever to get your order out. If you want sushi I would go somewhere else they seem to skimp in that area especially if you want something other than tuna. For the most part I like them and for a quick… well sometimes quick hibachi fix stop buy. I like the steak teriyaki.

Good place to get filling food without the wait of a traditional sit down restaurant. The menu has lots to choose from. I have tried both the teriyaki chicken and steak dinners. One visit the chicken was perfect and another it was more bland and lacking teriyaki flavor. The steak was pretty good– not too tough with good flavor. The fried rice isn’t as good as at traditional hibachi restaurants, but was enjoyable with the included ginger sauce.

Great little spot. Just moved back from Cali and its the most authentic place for sushi and hibachi compared to the overpriced places here in town.

The food was average. The restaurant felt a little greasy. I had the sushi and I think HEB has better sushi. The tempura in my tempura roll was one of those frozen tempuras that can be purchased at the grocery store. The dragon roll that I ordered had very little eel. Both rolls had a lot of soya sauce on top. It would have been better if it was left on the side. If you are from Abilene and have been to little panda, I would consider this place as a Japanese version of that restaurant.

Ho hum. Another pseudo Japanese place in Abilene. It’s ok –as far as appealing to Americans who do not know what true Japanese food should look and taste like. The miso soup tasted flat, and the tofu cubes were tiny, not like the picture on the menu. The place is owned by a Chinese couple, like Asian Fusion, so you can’t expect traditional Japanese cuisine. Prices are a tad high for fast food atmosphere. My first tip that they weren’t Japanese? Major typo on a sub heading on the menu isn’t Japanese… Again most Hakujin are fooled that its the real thing.

Ichiban has sushi and hibachi meals without having to go to a «sit-down» or «sit at the hibachi» place. I stopped in on a Saturday late afternoon for a couple of sushi rolls. At the counter I ordered a California roll and an avocado roll. Those two rolls plus a soda put my meal at about $ 10.50. They were okay, no mayo on them which I kind of liked since that cuts down on the calories. There were only two other people in the place at 6pm but they were busy with take-out orders. There prices are almost as high as the two regular Japanese restaurants in town and the rolls were smaller. You do have a view of the kitchen and the place was clean. I will try the hibachi next but this place will probably not be on my regular rotation as it is far from my house. Bonzai and Toyko are closer to me and I don’t mind tipping for full service or just picking up a sushi roll at HEB. However, for those in a hurry and close to the Mall, Ichiban is a good option. Update – went back last night and tried the shrimp teriyaki hibachi. Kind of flavorless unless you count soy sauce. Fried rice was basically steamed rice with a tiny bit of egg drowned in soy sauce. Spring rolls were all breading. Disappointing for almost $ 9. I won’t be back even with the sushi rolls at buy one get 50% off the second.

Ichiban is a great place to get a quick meal. The store is very clean and the kitchen is fully visible to customers. I got combination steak and chicken hibachi with fried rice and a salmon roll. It was cooked and ready to go in containers within 10 minutes of ordering. The service was acceptable; it wasn’t bad but wasn’t exceptional either. The food tasted great! For being under $ 10, the hibachi was very nice. The sushi was overpriced but its one of only a few sushi places in Abilene. I got a 6-piece salmon roll and it was $ 6. I would definitely recommend Ichiban to anyone who likes hibachi and/or sushi.

Pretty good for a new place. The prices are great too, especially on appetizers. The rice isn’t very good so I’d suggest ordering steamed rice and just putting juice on it from your chicken or steak. Every other food item I’ve had has been very good though. It’s a little slow as far as the prep time but it’s well worth it and you can easily call ahead for pickup. I hope they can afford to get a soda machine and some dine in plates soon.

For the price, it was overall good food, and a good portion. They only sell bottle and canned drinks. The place is clean and new looking.
