Ok but not better than Tennessee or Georgia BBQ! What bbq place doesn’t have stew lol??? I order the pulled pork plate and it didn’t taste that fresh to me. I guess I’m use to pulling up at BBQ spots where there’s a grill fired up out front and the smell of BBQ is in the air, catch my drift lol?..

This was my first visit here. Service was very fast and friendly. You order at the counter, get your drinks, and they bring your meal to your table. The menu is a variety of brisket, chicken, pork, beef ribs, or pork ribs. Sides are coleslaw, baked beans, potato salad, Mac and cheese, green beans, or turnip greens. They also offer baked potatoes with barbecue on them, salads with any of the smoked meat on them, or a veggie plate for the herbivores. Plates are served with two sides and either cornbread or a yeast roll. Sandwiches are either on a bum or po boy bread. Local Abita beers are the only alcoholic beverages available. I had the brisket burnt ends on a bun with coleslaw. The sandwich was a nice size and heaped with plenty of meat. The brisket was evenly sauced and not overly burnt. This was the outside portion of the brisket that turned dark as it smoked. The sauce didn’t overpower the flavor of the meat but was a little over salted. The meat had a very pleasant smoke flavor, but the sauce or the rub they used really distracted from the rich flavor with the excess saltiness. The coleslaw was only about ¾ of a cup and seemed too small for the $ 1.99 price. The taste was excellent. Very creamy with no vinegar taste and just lightly sweet. The cabbage was cut long, not diced, but could have used just a little more sauce. Not a roaring success at around $ 9 per person, but I am willing to come back and try a few of their other offerings.

Best BBQ around these parts! Lol. Deliciousness smoked into chicken, ribs, sausage… whatever your mouth is watering for! Their tangy, sweet sauce tastes great on everything, and their homemade cornbread is to die for. Yummy

MYGOD! I love this place! My favorite BBQ place on earth! I’ve been in Houston for too long and haven’t found a single place that has anything on this restaurant! Their pulled pork sandwich is my favorite!

BIGDISAPPOINTMENT First the sides are sooooo disappointingly mediocre. Before today, I’ve actually never had mac n cheese that just tasted like nothing… NO flavor whatsoever. The turnip greens obviously came from a can and were just heated on the steam table. No self-respecting southerner would consider them worthy. Cornbread was jiffy mix. No character at all. The meat was adequate. The brisket was very tender, but not memorable in flavor. The pulled pork was ok, perhaps a bit dry, but ok. Again, no evidence of pork rub. just blah. My food was placed in a paper bag and when I picked it up from my car, the juices had soaked the bottom of the bag and everything fell out. Fortunately, everything stayed within the styrofoam containers. BBQ take-out should be placed in plastic bags. It’s not that the food was uneatable, it was just tremendously mediocre. A very disappointing experience — I’ll never eat there again. In a section of the country where fantastic food is abundant, there is simply no reason to patronize this establishment… even if it were the only bbq in town.

Not very good at all. Was very excited to try it because we’ve had BBQ from Nashville to virginia to North Carolina. Not sure I’ve ever had BBQ that tasted this bad. Mac n cheese was mushy and corn bread was dry. Had ribs which is pretty simple but bland and greasy instead of tender and moist. Even feel nauseas after leaving. Will not return.

Went here because I was craving BBQ. The sides were salty and cold, cornbread dry and cold, ribs of party thought it was wonderful. I guess I got the dregs of the sides. They gave the rest of the party. Hot gooey Mac n cheese, mine end of the pan.

I called in a togo order. The blonde girl was rude on the phone and when I picked up my order. I’m glad she wasn’t my server, if I would have eaten in. Food was… Ok. I was not impressed. We got the pulled pork po boy & brisket plate. Wasn’t a lot on meat on the po boy & brisket was real dry.

Have eaten here many times great BBQ, be sure to try the pork steak, it has a terrific rub on it and has very little fat great tasting. They have outstanding racks of ribs, chicken is perfect every time. Very casual. Good prices.

Heard good things about this place and finally stopped in during a visit to the North Shore. It was everything I’d heard and more. Nothing fancy, just good, smoked meats and sides. Very reasonably priced, good service, everything you want in a BBQ joint.

I’ve been wanting to try Abita BBQ for years, but I’m always too focused on getting to the brew pub to stop. Abita BBQ is located on Hwy 59 in the area near Camellia Café. The building is set back from the road, but their sign is at the roadside. Inside the restaurant isn’t much to look at, but who cares about that when the food is good. We tried the pulled pork, BBQ chicken, homemade sausage and boudin. The pulled pork was smoky and tangy. It was different, but in a really good way. The chicken was also very good and smoky. The sausage was good, but not as good as the chicken and pork. The workers were very friendly and recommended the family special which actually saved us money. This place is far from fancy, but I do recommend their food. If your in the mood for some good BBQ, this is a great place to stop.

Some of the best BBQ around. Not the nicest place to eat at. But the prices are great to bring home a family meal for 4 under $ 20.
