The process of Rolfing® structrual integration organizes your body’s physical structure affording you increased ease of motion, freedom of movement, better postue and less chronic pain and stiffness. We all live under the influence of gravity. The injuries, accidents, emotional trauma and the misuse of our bodies all contribute to our struggle to stand errect and move with ease. Since I am both an Certified Advanced Rolfer® and a LicensedProfessional Counselor, I have the skills to assist my clients with both the physiczl and emotional sources of trauma which keep them «tied in knots».
Let me assist you in having your body feel and move with more gracefulness and ease.
History
Established in 1977.
The founder of Rolfimg® structural integration was Ida P. Rolf, Ph.D. who spent many years at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research. One of her interests was in the study of collagen, a main constituent of a pervasive connectve tissue in our bdies called fascia. She also studied with osteopathic physicians, chiropracters, yoga instructors nd movement specialists. With that backgound, she added her own unique insight that, although obvious, was not consided to relevant at that tme, the influence of gravity on our physical structures. Shortly after World War II, she took this insight and knowledge and began working on dancers and other clients in New York. However, it wasn’t until the 1960’s that the present form of Rolfing structural integration was established. In the1970’s, Dr. Rolf started a school now calld the Rolf Institute for Structural Integration, the only school that crtifies Rolfers. I was certified in 1977 and obtained my advanced certification in 1982
