It’s Just Lunch

I didn’t join. I have attended in a different location and I think the idea is great. But the execution here is weird. It’s very very expensive, and the number of dates are limited. In their sales calls, I have been told that they have good matches for me, so I should join «NOW» but they never had an interview with me and I never really answered any questions. Once, when they called, they described the kind of man they had in mind for me, and he matched nothing of the kind of criteria I would have. At the last pass that they called, she seemed a little pissed off that I wasn’t ready to join, a little short, and at that point, I told her, look, I will call you if I am interested, but honestly, it is just too expensive. I get tons of dates through other online services where I can see a picture and talk online until ready to meet, and it costs me next to nothing, why would I pay here? Maybe this is right for someone, it just isn’t right for cheap little me, I guess.

I went through the process and feel it is a scam I went to the one in Dallas and I have never had a worse experience with a company. All they do is take you money and set you up with random people. Most of my people were not even in my criteria. I strongly suggest you go anywhere else but here.

This was the worst experience I have ever had. I am a professional male in my early 50’s, who is successful and not too bad on the eyes. I signed up with Its Just For Lunch the latter part of 2014. It was a joke from the beginning. They have a bunch of immature, very young girls working there. All they know how to do is giggle. So unorganized. They don’t communicate with each other. They stated they were new at setting up gay people, but they assured me that I would get great opportunities and meet great guys. Not one match in 6 months. I had nothing in common with any of them. One guy told he was upset with them too. In fact they promised me 6 dates and I didn’t event get that. I wanted someone who went to the gym. None of them had good builds. One guy said he started the gym the day before our date. I guess I had to be more specific on how long. Then they told me they were going to JR’s, a gay bar, to recruit more clients. I also don’t drink or go out to the bar, so why would I want to meet someone they met there. After my last date no one followed up with a call to see how it went or anything. My rep acted like she cared, but did nothing. My sister used them and I should have learned from her. She had a bad experience too. Don’t waste your money, they are a HUGE JOKE!!!

3 words: DON’T DO IT. I consider myself a fairly savvy person but they have an incredibly slick sales process — lot’s of talk about personalized service and finding just the right match — then they dropped me on my head. I could have done better picking names out of a phone book.
Wondering about the cost? I got 6 loser dates for $ 2,600!!! (paid an extra $ 600 to be matched on some «exclusive» list) To this day I can’t believe I fell for their pitch. Don’t do it. Look at reviews around the country and believe what people are saying.

I had joined IJL in another city and had a great experience. In fact, I highly recommended the service to several of my friends. Then I moved to Dallas and thought I would have the same experience, but it turned out just the opposite. They do very little to promote personal service and are worse than any low rent used car salesman. Several of the people they matched me with felt the same, and I wonder why they’re still in business.
It’s an expensive service to consistently have matches that are no where in the same universe. It’s a total sales job, and I highly discourage anyone to join the IJL franchise in the DFW area.

I contacted them to get some information. I decided due to the price NOT to pursue their services. I have now gotten a call from Heather asking why did you even contact us… she is unprofessional and rude. She is a sales person not a matchmaker interested in seeing you find love. I would avoid even making contact with this company.

I joined It’s Just Lunch in Dallas after one of my friends went through the process. She even ended up in one of their magazine ads. Even though her match didn’t work out, she said it was fun, so what the heck!
I met with one of the coordinators and gave them my specifics. I was pretty open to meeting new people, with the criteria being that they had no children and lived in the greater Dallas area. I lived and worked downtown and had brutal hours, and frankly did not have the energy or desire to drive to Fort Worth or McKinney to meet up on a regular basis.
They gave me the standard talk about how they already had 4 – 5 people in mind that were «just perfect»!! I wouldn’t have fallen for that line if I had read their prior reviews. Also, I should have known that something was up when they demanded the yearly fee the next day. They even sent a courier to my office to pick up the check, which was pretty embarrassing.
The dates were, well… random. I had a few no shows, and tons of people who lived in Prosper, Fort Worth, and god knows where else. They also sent me out with someone who was divorced with 3 children and was commuting to Fort Worth from Georgia on a weekly basis. Every time they asked for feedback I reminded them of my criteria. It never helped. I have to say the most pleasant dates were the ones that were purely platonic and the one with the obviously gay man who loved theater.
Please think twice before forking over the money.

This dating site is a scam. I joined them years ago, at the recommendation of a friend. The talk about the number of marriages but refused to disclosed the percentage of marriages to the number of members.
I went to the meeting and agreed to join. I was told that I would have 12 months or 12 dates. I dealt with Lindsey and her assistant. I was called at home about the girls I would meet up, by her assistant.
I would be told I would meet up with blonde hair, blue eye girl, and a brunette and green eyed girl would show up. Her assistant did not even tell me the right discription of the girl I would meet up with. I was not allowed to see pictures of any of the girls I would be meeting.
In addition, I had many no shows, people show up late, and many leave in the middle of the dates, and yet, those dates counted.
To top it off, the agency never told the girls that I worked night shift, when I asked them to. It always was a surprise.
On a separate note, and I know that this sounds wrong, but I did not want interracial dating and yet, they set me up twice. It was very embarassing for me. I am not a racist but I don’t date outside my race.
I demanded a refund after horrible dates. The corporate office refused to refund my money.
I called the office of the president and got 50% of my money back. I accepted it.
This company is just out to get your money, and throw a warm body your way.
Not worth your time or money.

IJL did not provide services as described. They have over 10 complaints within 6 months at the BBB, and as stated in the IJL contract I have now filed a complaint with the arbitrator association whom have advised me that I do have a case. IJL used high pressure tactics to get me to join, they promised they would match my profile, and assured me that they had sufficient matches in their database that were in my age bracket, but they did not even come close to the basic similarities. I tried to resolve this by contacting them after each date as they asked that the clients do– but they were always in a big rush to get me off the phone. I finally suggested they simply keep the deposit I made of $ 500 and release me from the contract, by returning the balance of the loan to the finance company but IJL refused. The loan company said they would ahppily release me from the contract if IJl would simply refund the balance they pre-​paid to IJL… but IJL refused. I feel I have been scammed. IJL is not reputable. I suggest you do not waste your hard earned money on Its Just Lunch. Very unprofessional company.

I called It’s Just Lunch because I was curious about the service and how much they’d charge.
Well, I got just a little bit of information over the phone (that they’re in the BBB and been around a while) and they wanted to know if I could come in and just get some more detailed information.
Now at this point I’m thinking, they’re just going to sell me, sell me, sell me on something and it’s probably going to be something really expensive. But I specifically said I’m just coming in for more information and they assured me that’s ok. Well, I thought to myself, if I’m even slightly pushed into some sale or something, I am soooooo gone!
I knew they were in several cities across the US so I figured they must have something going for them, so why not? Just the information and that’s it.
When I make it to the place (it can be a little confusing even with directions), the building looks posh. I head on up to the floor and look for the office. Once I ring the doorbell (yes, a door bell), someone on the other side lets me in.
I’m taken to a little room (about 10 ft by 10 ft) that’s decked out in PURPLE painted walls, FUR carpet, frames on the wall of success stories, a shelf with books about dating, business cards on a small table and two leather chairs facing each other roughly about 5 or 6 feet apart.
I’m thinking at this point, man, they are going to try and pitch me some sale and they’re going all out! It was very unusual because this building has businesses here and I am sitting on the 5^th floor overlooking the Dallas Tollway and it’s like I’m sitting in somebody’s living room or something!
I’m trying not to get too comfortable because I’m expecting the pitch. Lindsey is the name of the lady who will be doing an «interview». She’s tall wearing a skirt down to just above the knee, about 5’7″ with 2 inch heels on, caucasian, kinda cute but not exactly my type.
I fill out two pieces of paper about myself on a clipboard and Lindsey takes a look at it. She starts asking me specifics about each interest like…
What Do I Do In My Spare Time?
What Kind Of Girl Am I Looking For? Nationality? Height? Build?
What Activities Do I Do?
What Kind Of Work Do I Do?
We talk about each one in detail and just go down a list and she gets me talking about myself and more about what I’m looking for. I start to
get comfortable and during this time she mentions she has a few girls that might fit that criteria (hmmmm, I’m thinking).
The interview goes for a while and it’s not like it’s tedious or anything. It actually is a little fun.
Towards the end, she says she has some girls on mind that she thinks would be a perfect match, like about 4 off the top of her head. So, at this point I’m interested but I know what’s coming next…
The cost for a one year membership is $ 1700.00 and that guarantees a minimum of 12 dates or 12 months whichever comes later.
I knew it’d be high and I’m thinking for a moment, 12 dates? Is that it? She reassures me it’s going to be a MINIMUM of 12 so there will be more.
I told her I’d think about it but she keeps interjecting specifics about the 4 or 5 girls that she thinks would be a perfect match for me. I tell her I’m really not committing to anything, I just need to be more social… and she reassures me that It’s Just Lunch, so don’t worry about it.
The next day she follows up with me and mentions there are several more girls that she’s got on her mind that I might like. They’re cute, very fit and petite, stable jobs.
Well, ok ok. I might just break down and go for this but probably in a month or two because that is a chunk of cash for a «dating service».
So, all in all, 3 stars because Lindsey was pretty nice and answered all my questions but I’ll be writing follow ups for sure so we’ll see if it’s just a scam or if the service is up to par!
