Been here a few times. I love this place. Soft shell blue crab is amazing. Tried appetizer crab fingers and it was amazing. The stuffed jalapeños are good. To be honest I didn’t like the breading around it, but the inside is amazing. Gumbo is good too!!:) of course, charbroiled oysters! I like their crawfish, but I like boiling crab. I think it’s because of their seasoning«The Whole Shebang» this place is amazing though. I would NEVER pass up coming here. &&& Nate is great person!

Best Cajun and seafood in DFW. Great crawfish, grilled fish, gumbo and Cajun goodness. Wonderfull lunch or diner. If you looking for some real Louisiana cajun food this is where to get it. Price is reasonable and quality is high. It keeps me coming back.

Cute little place, have only sat in the bar before. It is smoking, it’s fairly small and not a lot of circulation, so it’s pretty smokey, but doesn’t bother me being a smoker. Makes you feel like you are on the bayou! Their hurricanes are strong, after a couple you’ll def feel a bit tipsy. Food is always good, stuffed shrimp is awesome, as is their peal and eat shrimp and fried pickles. They serve a garlic bread to the table that is buttery and fatty but oh so good. Place could maybe use an update, chairs, tables are old, probably needs new paint and floors to spruce it up a bit. Love their large salt water aquarium!

Gumbo’s reaux seemed burnt. Étouffée and seafood pasta lacked some southern spices. Best part of the meal was the garlic bread.

Great food! Had the seafood sampler platter per recommendations from the bartender and it was great! Only grip was there was smoking allowed… I’m from Wisconsin and smoking isn’t allowed in bars and restaurants. But it didn’t bother me since the food was awesome!!!

Best gumbo hands down in the dallas metroplex. No other I’ve tried comes close. Crawfish are good. That’s all I come for. Two negatives is its always crowed and they allow smoking in the bar and my wife and I like eating in the bar areas.

The seafood was great. The atmosphere is amazing. The service is way more than welcoming. Again a place that has been there all my life and it will forevermore be on the must stop list when I go home to Dallas. Live love love it all!

Best seasoned crawfish anywhere. That’s what keeps me coming back to Nate’s. $ 5.99 a pound during happy hour and $ 6.99 during other times. 2016 is an early crawfish season so Nates will probably see me a couple of times a week until the season is over!

So we tried this place our after always seeing that it was packed and I’m not sure why it is after dining there last night. We ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and catfish. Wasn’t impressed with either. Frankly I’ve had better fried catfish at chicken express. The hush puppies tasted like sweet rolls you would get at a Chinese buffet. We won’t be going back. So not worth the money. I will say that the service was great though!

OK so I had two different people tell me this was the place to go for seafood. I Unilocaled it because I am new to the area. The the service reviews sucked. Dun Dun dunnnnnnn. We decided to come anyway and OMG I am glad we did. The food was fantastic. We had alligator and shrimp for an appetizer and the seafood platter for dinner.(Which we shared). Tristan was our server and he was awesome. Better than awesome. He took the whole experience to another level. He was helpful and explained all dishes. His recommendations were on point. I don’t know that I have ever had a better server. I watched him with other tables and I could tell he gave the same service to all his customers. Nate…you need to do what it takes to keep this young man… We will be back! Simcerely, Your new loyal customer.

Pre game dinner before the clock struck any later for New Years Eve. It was packed! Maybe that was the reason the food was not as good and kinda bland. Funky band was playing but there was no room to sit down or elbow room to eat. Maybe a bad experience. But the food could have been better seasoned.

My wife and I went to Nate’s on our trip to Addison Saturday Dec 20. We met up with friends there who had never been to Nate’s and they are sold on it as well. We discovered this restaurant back in 2003 on my wife’s birthday when we had been to several others that had been completely unsatisfactory. At the time my wife said, «That’s it, I’ve had it, just find me a „neon joint“ and that will be good enough.» About that time we were heading out on Belt Line near Midway and I happened to look up and see all the neon around Nate’s and said, «You want a neon jernt? There’s one right over there!» and whipped in. We were ecstatic with our experience and still are after 12 years. I usually get the fried shrimp platter, but on this trip I indulged in Nate’s Chicken Fried Steak. This isn’t your normal CFS, folk — this is a butterflied 12-ounce rib-eye tenderized, battered, and fried to perfection with country gravy served over a bed of french fries. The steak is so tender that it can be cut with a fork easily. A well-seasoned mound of creole-styled dirty rice and grilled veggies rounded out this plate. My wife had the 12-ounce rib eye and ate every bit of it. If you knew how little she really eats, this is saying something for sure. It is very refreshing to go to a place that when you say how you want your steak cooked, that’s how they do it. One of our friends decided to be brave and try the grilled oysters since she had only had them in New Orleans before. She was elated to find out that Nate’s delivers the same quality that she had in New Orleans and she and her husband, local Dallasites, are now Nate’s fans as well. Every table also gets a complimentary serving of garlic and olive-oil french bread and hush puppies. The atmosphere is boisterous but not loud. Smoking is available in the bar area(where it is a bit louder). During fair weather a lot of folk opt to eat out on the deck, but the décor and friendliness is the same inside or out. Give Nate’s a try — you won’t be disappointed.

Lets get one thing straight. I NEVER, EVER leave a food review, even though I use Unilocal religiously for my food adventures. I’ve always wanted to try this place so a few days ago, my gf and I decided to stop by for an early dinner. I could care less about the waitstaff, hostess and etc… just bring me good… no decent, food. Is that so hard to ask? Unfortunately, it was for this establishment. Horrible tasting food. Everything tasted old and bland. Portion sizes were small and overpriced. We both have lived in Dallas for all of our lives… and Nate’s is by far the worst restaurant we’ve been to. Disgusting. 0 stars. Zero.

Came here because we have a few friends that have worked here and have never tried it. You can definitely get a lot of food for a small price but not the best seafood in town. Restaurant has a very divey kind of feeling with a bar and table areas. Crowded on Wednesday so that was cool.

I was so embarrass. My husband enjoys dining at Nate’s, he talks about the gumbo all the time. He regularly orders a to-go so he can have some the next day. He had friends in town and decided to take them to Nate’s(party of 6). He talked up the atmosphere(casual), food and service. Boy were we embarrassed and disappointed. We were seated upon arrival …straight back in the corner by the window. Great view of the restaurant and part of the kitchen. The service was extremely slow. We were there for 2.5 hours and most of that time was waiting for service. Whether it was to take a drink order, an appetizer order, dinner order, refill of drinks, to-go containers and dessert. The staff was into watching a football game on TV instead of helping customers. To of our orders came out wrong, including mine. The gumbo wasn’t on point(my poor husband was so disappointed after talking it up). …AND a cricket landed on one of our guest shoulders during the meal. She scream, jumped and the waitstaff blew it off like it was normal thing. We realized the ceiling above our table had an opening and it was OPEN! Now the ladies at the table were grossed out. The appetizer platter was good. Some of our guest said the food was bland with no flavor including the dirty rice. Nate missed the mark with us. I’m sure we’ll dine again, but I doubt we’ll take guest there anytime soon.

Love their crawfish! They have the best crawfish prices and the crawfish are always delicious plus the JP juice is the perfect side to these mudbugs. I always place an order to go, and the guys at the bar are always very friendly and quick. Not to mention, you get a side of garlic toast and hush puppies free. The only negative is that the parking lot is always packed! If you place a to go order, you have to park your car literally on the side of the building.

I have driving past Nate’s for years finally was given the chance to dine in this wonderful hole in the wall seafood restaurant, in reflection I should of stopped by here years ago to enjoy this masterpiece of cajun dining. We stopped by for a early dinner around 5pm on a hot Summer Saturday, when you walk in you wouldn’t know we were in Texas, it was like we were transported to a local bayou restaurant in the heart of the Louisiana swamps with dim lighting, full blasting air-condition and very lively tropical and fresh water fish tanks. As soon as we walked in we were taken to a table in the back. We wanted a table next to the fish tank even though a couple just left. The host was very nice and just cleaned up the table for us and we sat right down which made us and the baby very happy. Our waitress was over in a few minutes and took our drink orders. Which allowed us some time to review the menu. The menu leans very towards the cajun/seafood aspect of the restaurant. It does have steaks too, but those are in the back. I’m sure they are good, but I didn’t get a chance to try them. We had the oysters on the half shell, since they were blue tips they were a few dollars more, but worth it. We also had the fried calamari which was good as well. I made sure to try the garlic bread and hush puppies. Wow they were delicious. The hushpuppies have to be made of some sort of cornbread, because they were pretty sweet. Our table had two orders of the garlic bread and hushpuppies and we devoured every last bit. For the main courses I had the Lump Crabmeat Sautee,(menu spelling) which was pure crab meat mixed in garlic but not over powering. It was very tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My wife had the Shrimp and Crabmeat Étouffée which had the right amount to shrimp to crab ratio and also tasted great. Lastly for dessert we finished up with key lime pie. I’m not sure if it was homemade or store bought, either way it was really good. I really don’t have anything negative to say about here at all. The wait staff was great, the host was great, the food was terrific and it was way more then I was expecting. I’ll take Nate’s over Razzoo’s any day. I also saw their daily and hh specials and I have to say I’m impressed. I really look forward to coming back here, and if you were like me driving past here day in, day out and you haven’t stopped by yet, you need to check this place out.

How can you not pass up this bright pink building when you are driving through Addison? Your taste buds become intrigued about what the food tastes like. We came here a few weeks ago for lunch. I had the lump crab meat in butter garlic sauce. Yum. Just crab meat shelled for you swimming in a pool of butter and garlic. Market price, it was about $ 20, I believe. It was delicious. My husband got the catfish. He said it was a little bland. This seems to be the place to go for crawfish. My only complaint is that it smelled like smoke.

I’ve always wanted to try this place and wasn’t disappointed with my experience. They had a 30 minute wait for indoor seating on a Friday night but it probably would’ve been a longer wait had it not been for the tornado storm that was blowing through. We opted for outdoor patio seating which ended up being better as we got seated immediately and it was much quieter and smoke free! Service was great. We had a super friendly waitress who brought out their complimentary tray of hush puppies and garlic bread. Addictive! I ordered the fried oysters which were fried to perfection. The margaritas were just OK. The only reason I’m not giving this place 5 stars is because they’re in Addison which doesn’t have a smoking ban and you have to contend with the smell of smoke permeating the air. Other than that, I would recommend this place for seafood.
