U.S. Tree Service

Used this company twice and would recommend. First job we had 2 trees including the stumps removed in the front of the house. The 2^nd was a larger job, 10 trees rooted from the backyard. Both jobs done with caution and clean up was excellent. Great family company with all the proper equipment and very fair pricing.

This has to be one of the strangest professional interactions I’ve ever had with a company. Which is not to say I would recommend you not use them. When all was said and done, they were efficient and did a nice job removing the tree from my backyard.
But it became clear to me after reading other reviews, and speaking with the staff that the person answering the phone has absolutely no idea what the crew is doing at any given time. I called on the day my tree was removed at 9 a.m. to obtain a time window for when the crew may come. I was told between 10 – 11 a.m. I had my house-​sitter arrive at 10 a.m. so she could be there when they finish and pay them for the job.
They weren’t there at 11. They weren’t there at 12. They weren’t there at 1. The day went on and finally shortly after 2 p.m. I called again and was told they were running late on the previous job and they were in Hinsdale. I told the house sitter to leave because it sounded like they would still be working when I got home from work.
Then I got a call from Boris who told me the job was already done.
Huh?
I called the house sitter. She never saw them arrive or leave or anything.
A few minutes later, I got a call from Mike (the owner, I guess?). He told me they’d arrived at 8 o’clock and were finished by 9:30.
OMFG.
As you can see there’s a clear lack of communication between the various components of this company.
Mike then asked me how I was going to pay. I told him I had cash and would bring it by the office. That was fine with him. I’d already made this arrangement with Boris, but clearly the two never actually speak to one another, so I don’t expect Mike to know this.
So I went by the address Boris gave me this afternoon. It’s a house. A nice house, but still a house. Apparently this company operates out of a house in Addison. And I was only sure of this because all the US Tree Service equipment was parked on the driveway.
Sadly, Mike, Boris and the gang were not available to accept my payment but Mike’s mother, a lovely elderly lady who speaks exactly two words of English was more than willing to accept my payment. Except she didn’t know what a receipt was. She ran into the house and got an elderly man who spoke more English than she does, and he signed off on the estimate that I was given, and took my payment. I guess that serves as my official documentation now.
If you’re expecting organized, you won’t find it with this company. But they do seem like a wholesome bunch, and they do good work so I would still recommend you use them. Just don’t sit around waiting for an appointment time because they will not give you one, will be early, or late or something and you’ll waste a day waiting for them. Just let them do their job.
Oh, and if you pay cash there’s a discount. So there’s that.

I found U.S. Tree Service on Unilocal after our lovely maple tree dropped a big olé tree branch on my car, breaking my windshield. The tree hangs over our fence and power lines, so their 5 star reviews made me feel pretty safe about using them. I found some things about the experience great, and others not so much, which netted out to about 3 stars for me.
I placed a quote request via their website, and within a few days I had an estimate stuck in my door. The price seemed fair ($ 500 for a trim) and there was also a 5% off coupon in my local mailer so I booked the service. I wanted to get an early appointment so that I could hopefully work the 2^nd half of the day (I needed to be home to open a gate for them), so I got an 8:30am on a Wednesday.
The morning of the tree trimming arrived, but by 9:30 they had not yet arrived so I gave a call. I was told that they were running late. Ok, no biggie. Should still be able to head in to work after lunch. By 11am, I was feeling pretty irked. They finally did show up at 11:30, three hours late for an early morning appointment, which I was surprised at. I never got a call of any sort, to let me know that they were running late, to follow up, or to give an estimated time of arrival.
Once they arrived they got right to work, and were done and out by 1pm. The tree trimming seems to be well done and thorough. They cleaned up the mess when they were through, and nothing was destroyed by falling branches. A-​OK there.
My feedback for the situation is just that if you are able to provide a bit more support on the customer-​service end of things, it would be helpful. Phone calls regarding service running late or a call to provide an estimated time of arrival would be great! Either that or provide a service window rather than an appointment time, so that folks can plan their day accordingly (and more accurately).

Fair prices and professional work. Quote for 3 major prunings and 1 tree removal was almost half as much as Care of Trees and more discount for paying with cash. Even offered to do a little extra. Crew completed job in 2ish hours and cleaned up great.

These guys are AMAZING! I have used them twice now — both for tree removal and tree trimming. They are experts, professional, and the most affordable you will ever find. Please do not hesitate. I can’t believe that I haven’t reviewed this company before! The first time we needed a tree cut down, I got multiple quotes and ended up picking US Tree Service. We’ve had 3 trees taken down by them over the past 7 years. Some of the trees were badly rotted, hanging over the house, and in the middle of power lines.
The price was more than fair and they did a fantastic job, even avoiding plants and cleaning up afterwards. My in laws used them at our recommendation for a very large rotted red oak and had no complaints (which is really an accomplishment for the company) — Just kidding, my in laws are fantastic. Really.

We had overgrown landscaping with trees and bushes. They came out very quick to give us a quote and to remove them. They did an awesome job. They were so much cheaper than other companies that gave us quotes. I would definitely use them again.

Very quick response to quote request and very reasonable rate. They showed up on time, had a large crew, and did a good job to remove a big tree from my backyard. I will use them again for another tree in my backyard soon.

This is a well run business that does good work at a competitive price. I called late on Friday afternoon. The guy came out on Sunday morning with proof of insurance and gave us a written estimate. Since it was moved very slowly and carefully the stump removal machine did not hurt the lawn one bit, and the cleanup was thorough.
When the trees are leafed out we’ll ask them to come back to trim two trees due to my wife’s distrust of my artistic tree trimming ability.
I’m a great believer in DIY since it always has the best price and the certainty that the work will be done right as well as the satisfaction of seeing the results of your labors.
However, after seeing the work and the equipment required to remove our tree, I’m glad my wife talked me out of doing this job myself!

They showed up on time and did a good job to trim our backyard huge maple tree. Price was good and the service was provided very professional.

Friendly and professional company with good prices. I have used them three times. They come with a full team and get the job done quickly.

Just used them to take down 2 trees. One tree (70 feet up about 10 feet off our house) and another about 50 feet (near power lines). Got both down in 3 hours and came out EARLY (1 hour)…Couldn’t believe it! They were the cheapest of 4 quotes (I used Angies List for 3 other quotes). They had a crew out (5 guys), a mulcher, and a stump remover and got everything down without removing power lines, cables, and phone lines, which were right next to the tree. I was surprised as 2 other company’s said they needed to call the power company and shut down power or remove the cable lines temporarily. I did bite my nails on a branch or 2, but these guys were 1) professional; 2) safe; 3) got the job done quickly.

I’ve used these guys several times. They do good work and their prices are cheaper than the competition. they give you a written free estimate and a copy of their insurance when they come out. They always answer the phone or call back shortly if you leave a message.

I almost never give a 5 star review. However, this company is very affordable. He has good equipment and work is hassle free. We use them to remove dead and storm damaged trees. Pruning is expensive with them so I’d look for someone else unless you want to remove a whole tree.
