The Habitat ReStore supports the housing mission of Habitat for Humanity.
History
Established in 1989.
For the past 24 years, Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County has built/renovated homes for families who demonstrate a need for housing, are able to make mortgage payments and willing to partner by engaging in «sweat equity» (volunteer work). Families must have income between 30% and 60% of the county’s average median income (AMI).
HFHLC has realized the need to make a bigger impact and has refined our focus to specific neighborhoods. HFHLC has begun to revitalize neighborhoods by completing critical repair projects for homes surrounding those we will rehab. Homeowners who partner with Habitat struggle to attain conventional bank financing. For this reason, Habitat offers no profit mortgages as well as 0% interest loans for repairs. As mortgages and repair loans are repaid, those payments are reinvested into more rehabs and repairs for years to come allowing more families to be served.
