the new owner must think everyone is one a half day schedule. No more 6:30 am classes and half of the evening classes are gone. Also for the next three days the 4:00 classes are cancelled due to a Monday holiday
but the prices are the same with half the opportunity to practice is gone

I have never done bikram yoga and probably will not do it again as it is not for someone who worries about getting sick. This would be the best place to catch something as people go there when they are sick and it is just a breeding ground for germs. A man right next me was huffing and puffing and was really sick… YUCK!
I don’t believe that you burn a lot of calories either, just water weight which of course you gain back the minute you drink fluids.
However yoga is good for the joints as well as increasing flexablitiy and if you don’t mind smelly possibly sick people then check it out.
I give it a three star for the instructor as she was very good even though she did not actually do any poses herself.

I used to practice Bikram at a gnarly stinky studio in St. Louis so a little bit of smell in a studio is no biggy. What does drive me crazy is a studio where people complain while working out. The schedule at this studio caters more to soccer moms in this suburban paradise so you get a fair share of complaining. Why is the room so hot? Can you turn on the fan/​open the door? Etc.
All in all the studio is well maintained and the instructors know the drill. I could do with less whining though.

Lose the carpet and earn another star.

I am currently a member at this studio. I started Bikram because of the groupon special. Although I am very grateful to the groupon special to have introduced me to this great practice of yoga, I believe this studio distributes those deals too frequently. There are waves of newcomers all the time which 1. makes classes extremely packed with inexperienced students and 2. makes classes run overtime because often the newcomers are not listening to the instructor’s directions.
The reason for the 4 stars is because this studio has the best bang for your buck, the instructors are great, and everyone there is very nice. It’s $ 100 a month unlimited yoga. You can’t find a better deal than that. Granted, the studio is not very posh or fancy; however, it gets the job done, which is what I am looking for.
I have never been disappointed by any of the instructions. I do have my favorites (Liz) but other than that all the instructors are great and provide helpful feedback on your postures, which is a must in this yoga.
Everyone there, students and instructors alike, are all very friendly and helpful. The students don’t compete against each other and instead motivate and help each other during the 90 minutes.
If you are looking for a fancy, expensive-​looking studio with beautiful locker rooms and great amenities you will not find that here. However, if you want to practice/​learn Bikram in a comfortable, friendly environment I would definitely recommend this studio.

I went using a Groupon I had for 10 classes. The class was great! It fills up quick, so get there early to claim your space in the room. The teacher does talk fast, but I don’t find this to be a negative. I could understand what she was instructing. I found the class challenging and rewarding. The teacher remembered a lot of names, which is nice. She would help correct poses, but I thought that was a plus. The only drawback is that I wish the women’s changing area was bigger, but it isn’t something that would make me stay away. I would definitely go back again.

I’m the last person to be a germ a phobic! but it is nasty to have carpet in this room! I saw others post about the smell. Part of it is the germs accumulating in the carpet… does not make for breathing with ease!
I was a lil taken back when the instructor speaks sooo fast (and I’m a fast speaker) that even I couldn’t understand what he was saying MANY times!
Can’t say I’ll be attending again, it was a challenge and I felt good about trying it and finishing the 90 minute class, but there’s just too many other factors which do not suit my needs… to each there own-​right!

Heat. Sweat. 26 poses. 90 minutes. This yogastic experience blew me away.
Yes, Yoga. What did you think I meant? Sheesh.
For weeks, my sister would proclaim in public (aka «Facebook») how truly awesome she felt after Hot Yoga, which for months I had been debating on trying. Seeing her posts buoyed my resolve to finally try it. Luckily I had stumbled onto a group deal online which allowed me to purchase 10 classes for $ 29 (normally $ 140 for 10 classes).
I entered the studio warily, not really knowing what to expect and wondering if I should have dragged a couple of girl friends for support. But I noticed lone ladies confidently walking in, yoga mats under their arms and the aura of someone who really wants to be there.
Yoga mats. Of course I didn’t have mine and no towel or water either. Luckily, they rent clean ones of both and had plenty of water for sale. Bonus — coconut water! Can’t pass that up.
The studio was dark and pleasantly hot when I walked in (I love heat, so yes to me it’s «pleasant»). Careful not to disturb the others already laying down comfortably on their mats, I rolled mine out quietly, sat down, and surveyed the area. The studio is not huge but not small either with ceiling fans, clock, and mirrors. Five minutes later, the same desk Yogi that I spoke to prior to the class came in and proceeded to instruct us. Loved that she remembered my name and the names of the other newbies. Shameful that I can’t remember hers.
90 minutes later my body finally stopped producing puddles of sweat (the lady in front of me was dripping pools). And all that twisting, bending, stretching, pulling, reaching left me feeling like a wrung out towel, but I also felt amazing — quiet, serene, glowing. My thoughts were calm and I only wanted a salad for dinner (what?).
Can’t wait for the next 9 classes!

I have been to a few locations for bikram and while the instructors and price are great at this location, I don’t know that I will continue after my groupon is finished. The room smells horrible and I view bikram as a way to detox. It smells like sweat (which can be expected) mixed with chemicals. I am guessing to remove some of the smell or for cleaning purposes, it is overwhelming. It is great exercise but I feel like this facility could benefit tremendously by removing the carpet or replacing? Or some air purifies? All of which I have seen in other locations where the air is much more enjoyable.

Had to post this after the argument I had with the owner yesterday. Who didn’t listen to a word I said and talked over me. She was giving me a bad attitude with her sly facial gestures, thus leaving me with a very bad feel for this studio.
I had used a groupon before in September and did 10 classes for $ 29. Was great deal I do enjoy Bikram Yoga. However, this studio is not as clean and friendly as neighboring Bikram studio Westlake which is fabulous. I love Bikram so I saw another groupon, end of October– read the fine print also read the FAQ’s to make sure I could buy this groupon again and use it. One of the questions asks, «Is this deal good for someone who been there before or is it for new people only?» Mira H. (owner) answers, «It is not for new students only. Returning students can use this groupon.»
Needless to say she will not let me use it as promised. In my opinion this is bad business and I do not ever want to go back to this smelly studio again. If you are interested in Bikram Yoga go to Westlake Bikram Yoga, so much better!

Had to post this update for a friend.
I met him at the studio on Monday morning and had a good session. The owner happened to be there taking the class too. After the class she stopped him letting him know that his groupon had expired last month. Keep in mind before the expiration he had only taken 3 classes.

He explained that he had a new groupon that was given to him (I bought it for him as a gift) and showed it to her. Not only did she tell him that she wouldn’t allow him to use it since groupons can’t be combined but that he needed to pay for the 4 classes he had subsequently taken since. Please answer this, if one groupon has expired and not being honored, how is using another a month later combining? Her deduction makes no sense.

As I’m watching and listening, the owner was being unreasonably loud raising her voice and flailing her arms repeating shaking her head as if my friend was doing something outrageously wrong. She not only wouldn’t allow him to use his new groupon since he had used one previously but continued to state that he needed to pay for the sessions. Totally frustrated since he wasn’t getting a word in, he went to get his wallet and ultimately she charged him $ 75!!!
Here’s the thing, a lot of us use groupons to go to this studio because they’re a great price and the studios atmosphere and cleanliness is tolerable for the price. I’m on my second too along with a handful of other friends. As well as other people I’ve talked to while waiting for classes to begin do the same (I guess the owner hasn’t found us all out yet). But my problem, after listening to the owner and her unreasonable behavior and COMPLETE lack of customer service and business sense, now becomes why would I or anyone want to patron a place and give business to a woman who so absolutely doesn’t value the compliment of a customer visit???

I have to admit after my groupon is used (I already paid for it) I won’t EVER be going back there either.
Footnote: Isn’t it illegal in CA to have expirations on services you prepay for? Wouldn’t a groupon count as the same?

Instructor was super nice and helpful, very motivating which is key in hot yoga! The room was small compared to other locations and not as clean, but overall it was a good expereince and the prices are super cheap compared to other places!

I probably should have checked out Unilocal before I bought the Groupon for this studio, I might have saved myself $ 29. Although I had 10 classes, I only went to 2 because I was so grossed out by the floor being carpet (I could not get past the idea of all the gallons of sweat that must have soaked into the carpet in the last year — ew), not to mention the fact that the lighting is of the really intense fluorescent variety, and there are like, 2 fans on the ceiling. I get that it’s supposed to be hot, but this was just kind of gross.
I’m not a huge fan of «strict Bikram», I guess, because they don’t offer really any variations in the poses. Sometimes, when there are people who have obviously practiced for a while, you’ll get the more difficult version of a pose, but there is not much in the way of variation for injuries, inability, etc. If you can’t do the class the way it’s presented, tough luck for you.
I didn’t have the experience of the teachers being mean, just not particularly friendly or willing to give modifications/​corrections.
In the end, not my style of yoga, and I really just couldn’t get past the industrial carpet floors. I wanted to stick my yoga mat in the washing machine when I got home from class. And any studio that has yoga classes that will drench your clothing in sweat should have a decent shower/​changing area.
Overall, I’ve heard that there are better Bikram studios in the area (Westlake) so I might give Bikram another try there. In my opinion, not worth the money I spent on the Groupon and DEFINITELY not worth the money they charge for a monthly membership.

. they had this amazing deal of $ 29.00 for 10 sessions. I’ve been to a Ventura bikram yoga and know the classes are about $ 20 each so I jumped on that deal! I knew what I was getting myself into with the heat and intensity but what I was worried about was the teacher. Dylan and I didn’t fancy the Ventura teacher cause he was sort of rude and called us by nicknames he would make up instead of learning our names or just not giving a name. and he was sort of egotistical, not cool.
This teacher was breath of fresh air. She had the same way of teaching which I think is standard with bikram, fast pace second by second interaction. she is straight forward with questions, some people might not like that but I do. she looks at you and tells you indirectly what you need to correct which I like so I know how to do the poses right. she does compliment individuals by name and as a class which is encouraging. she gets an a+ from me
the place itself need fabreese or something though. its pretty stinky in the room. I know it must be hard to keep that place smelling fresh cause of the massive amounts of body sweat each class but I don’t remember the Ventura bikram studio ever smelling.
all in all I think its a great place and class but I’m not too sure how willing ill be to pay $ 100 a month for unlimited classes after I’m done with my discount package.

meh. Its really hot. Definitely not my thing, but if you’re into sitting in a room full of people that came in for the first time on a groupon special then this is for you. cheers.

Imagine walking into a sauna and leaving 90 minutes later as the sweatiest monkey, ever. It’s hot, people.
Here’s What’s Up:
1. Wear the skimpiest outfit you’re comfortable with. For me, that is capris and a tank. If you can rock it, do the sports bra and booty spandex shorts. Men: plan on not wearing a shirt. This isn’t a meat market so don’t be self conscious.
2. Arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to get your spot and allow yourself time to sit in the room in the heat.
3. Bring a yoga mat, a towel that is large enough to cover the mat, a face towel, and a large bottle of water.
4. For you fashionistas: take your jewelry off. Sweaty skin + metal = not comfortable.
5. Practice on an empty stomach — this will diminish urges to puke.
There is a bathroom, one shower and some cubbies to put your personal items in the women’s area (sorry men, no clue what your space looks like). I leave my flip flops, keys and sweatshirt in the hall.
As far as teacher criticism, I don’t mind it at all. If I am going to subject myself to this inferno, I would rather the teacher call me out when I am doing things wrong so that I can benefit the most from the class.
You will feel like a million buck when you leave, promise.

My experience here was very unfortunate. I have practiced yoga since the early 90’s. I practiced some Bikram perhaps 10 years ago at a friend’s studio. The heat is very challenging to me I have HBP which makes it tough/​But because of that, I need to detox. I’ve been looking forward to going here, I planned on starting a daily routine in January as Bikram can be so good for someone with my condition, so I went, planning on doing the first month trial then beyond. No need after the first class. I have taken literally thousands of yoga classes of all kinds. The best are always when you learn something, are challenged, and experience joy. The best of instructors impart this, and are instructors. The owner taught the class and was unbelievably egotistical. extremely uncool. I had told her I would drink water and she said okay prior to class but she sharply reprimanded me when I did. In fact, she reprimanded me through class, I am extremely flexible and was in a corner, additionally my body is used to a different movement, she must have sharply reprimanded me 8 times in an hour or so. It was ridiculous. like a ballet teacher harassing a modern dancer about the innate way she moves when learning. Please. this is yoga. It is not the student’s problem if another movement style that has been adopted, in this day and age, we can expect people to try different things. It is not easy for a body to change and a skilled or at all connected teacher would recognize this. being a good teacher is more than just telling people how to move their bodies, it is in delivery and hers was so insulting and just rude. It’s really unfortunate. I was looking forward to learning a daily Bikram practice. I will try Westlake Village.

I just don’t understand why these places don’t do more with
the lighting. There are so many ways to light a space and make
it more flattering to the YOGIS but fluorescent is reminiscent of
grade school class. Not too crowded, the room DEFINITELY seems
hotter than most Bikram studios I’ve been to.

I first heard of Bikram yoga back in July from my boss and after hearing so many good things about it, I decided to give it a shot. As soon as I opened the door to the room, I could already tell this was going to be an intense work out — and I promise you — it was the worst, but the at the same time — one of the best workouts I’ve ever had! I started going 3 times a week for 1 month and everyone including myself, noticed I was losing weight, and getting toned! I lost over 5 pounds.
Here’s what you can expect: When you first walk in, you feel like you’ve walked into a volcano. The room is over 105 degrees, and the smell is quite pungent. After a while, you get over it, and the stretching begins. Within 5 minutes, you will be sweating and thinking — what the heck did I get myself into? But if you keep your mind focused on doing your poses correctly, the hardest part is over, and you begin the second half of the class with floor poses. Before you know it, 90 minutes has gone by, and the last two minutes in the room, you are left to meditate, reflect, and thank yourself for doing something positive for your body and spirit!
Beware — you may become addicted. Also — the more you go, the easier it gets, the better you lwill ook and feel. You will become more positive and be very happy with the results by going consistently!!!
I only have 1 negative comment — there were a few times where a group of us would show for class, and the door would be locked. There would be no sign, or any kind of notice to inform the class was canceled. Hopefully they have resolved the problem.
I give the class 4 stars, but the way the studio has been running lately 3.
