Songbird Terrace

Obviously this Gaye person has issues. She’s probably that barn witch that has been to 10 different barns already and finds fault in all. You know the type. But I’ll tell you the truth from a normal persons perspective, this is the most sought after well managed barn I’ve been to yet. The horses are always under the watchful eye of Sylvie (the barn manager) she misses nothing. My horse is in full training with her as well and he is doing amazing. I’ve only known Sylvie for 3 months so she was not my friend that I’m trying to pump up. She’s amazing and takes wonderful care in all the horses there. She’s there from dusk till dawn, training, riding, grooming, bathing, feeding, and tending to medical issues if need be. I can go away or not check in for days at a time and when I return my horse is always happy, clean and well taken care of. The barn is cozy and clean and has direct access to trails. I can’t say enough good things about this place.

And Benjamin S. is the live –in boyfriend of Songbird Terrace LLC’s barn «manager». But keep trying to polish the turd and be sure to include inaccurate personal attacks, rather than addressing the issues of this boarding property.

«This is the best ranch in Agoura Hills. It’s a well taken care and drama free barn. The rates are very fair and the facility is top notch. The person that complained below is one of the crazy people that gets kicked out of every barn she goes to because she can’t seem to get along with others. Since she left Songbird she’s been kicked out of at least two other barns so believe her or not this barn is the place to be if you like a drama free barn. Come check it out for yourself and you’ll see its really a beautiful place and while your there have a look at the hay too because its also top notch.

Very poor quality hay. This ranch meets none of the qualifications.
A high leaf-​to-​stem ratio. Choose hay lots that contain a high proportion of leaves vs. stems and seed heads,” because the plant’s highest concentration of nutrients is in its leaves.
Hay soft to the touch.
A pleasant smell.
A bright green color.
Unfortunately, it’s about price at this ranch and the horse’s health will suffer.

Have you ever heard the saying, «There are no bad horses, just bad owners?» Well I have resembled that remark from time to time with my horses. You will never here me saying I know a lot about horses. But I am trying. I have owned one of my horses for twenty-​five and a half years. My gelding has lived at three boarding facilities in those twenty-​five years. For the last twelve years we have been at Songbird Terrace/​Windsong Ranch. I have never feared for my horse’s safety or well being while at Songbird. Unless I own my own ranch, I could not see myself leaving Songbird. Songbird is a private residence that allows the boarding of horses. Thankfully, the new owners (2012) didn’t kick us all out like the neighboring ranches did in the last few years.
The new owners of Songbird have graciously allowed us to board our horses in one of the best locations in Southern California. It is no wonder why thousands of people hike, bike and horseback ride all around the ranch all year round. I have been doing just that for 27 years here at Cheesebro Canyon National Recreation Area.
If you have been in the horse world for any length of time you will know the one thing that plagues the industry… people talking bad about others (previous review). As far as Songbird Terrace goes, the owners, managers and most of the boarders have the biggest HEARTS when it comes to the land and the horses. There is nobody who works harder than the current barn manager in the horse world.
At a recent Buck Brannaman clinic, Buck talked about the prisons we keep our horses here in California, referring to the box stalls and rows of pipe corrals most ranches use for boarding. We could all learn a lot from Buck… as for me, every minute I get to share with my horse at Songbird Terrace, is a happy minute. If you need more of the story, just ask.
