The best place in the world for Italian makings! All the employees are always so friendly and helpful. I’ve been coming here for more than 40 years and I am not even Italian.

Great local grocery. They carry Boars Head lunchmeats which are pricey but worth the extra money for the quality. I always make sure i pick up a pack of frozen home made pasta. The sandwiches are very good also. They offer a large selection of homemade frozen entrees also but i have not tried them yet.

Local, family-ran and owned business that’s been in the same location since I can remember! This review is based on my last trip there with my father. We stopped in with a long list, several gift cards(because it’s the perfect gift for anyone on the hill), and lots of past-salad cravings! There, I said it. Pasta salad. I’m probably in the minority here because I eat the pimento, peas, and celery and leave the cheese chunks. We have to get several pounds because this item doesn’t last long in our household. What does it taste like? You mean you’ve actually never had it before? Well, it is the perfect blend of oil and vinegar, where you get the profile of the other ingredients than the noodles, veggies, and cheese. And they don’t skimp on anything either — the chunks of cheese are sizable and plentiful. I also like some of their other pasta-based salad such as the tortellini salad. What’s a trip to Devitis like before Christmas(or any major event)? Busy. They have to have an officer directing parking in the small location they’ve occupied forever. You take a number and it’s like 20 away at the deli counter. No problem because everyone is so well trained it goes fast. We love coming here for the meats especially — there’s no other capacola like that found here. We’ve even purchased fresh-frozen linguine that was the best. We always purchased the pre-made subs for trips and still purchase the meals(add a side salad like macaroni, potato, pasta and soda). It’s a true Italian fine foods market. Plus you can find things such as ravioli and a pizzelle maker here too! I love that you see the Devitis family grow and grow up. You won’t find them open on holidays or Sundays because it’s church and family time. I respect that and they respect their customers. Which is why you’ll run into at least one or two people you know while there. Nothing compares.

DeVitis & Sons Family Market and Deli is THE place for the best in fine Italian food, homemade and imported goods. I grew up with this market and I always stop when I am in town because I miss it so much. When you step into the store you receive wafts of marvelous smells that tell you you’ve entered the old country. You will find fresh produce(my grandfather used to ride the truck to bring it fresh from Cleveland), great prepared food made with that best of Italian ingredients, love, and an incredible deli not to be missed. The staff is pleasant, helpful, and dedicated, just like the family that owns and runs it. Shop DeVitis & Sons, a unique adventure not to be missed.

The best italian supermarket around. Their prepared foods are second to none. Go early though because they sell out by one o’clock. Ham salad, pasta salad, etc better than mom’s!

I used to go here twice a week for years until the quality went down. They changed there deli meat brand to a cheaper one but kept the same price and added sodium nitrate. There previously good bread turned into high fructose, hydrogenated bread. There are many other products that the ingredients changed. Some of that is the manufacture fault but others not. All the ladies are really nice there but sometimes the guys are grumpy. The guys there are always rude to my second cousin for some reason.

This place is always great. I always buy basil and homemade mozzarella here for caprese salads. Their prepared foods are really good with reasonable prices as well.

I absolutely love Devitis market and deli. They have a wide variety of Italian food and ingredients, ranging from prepared foods(e.g., cooked lasagna, etc), heat-and-serve food(i.e., frozen food that they prepared, and you just need to heat up), to high quality ingredients for you to use in your homemade meals. The deli has high quality meats and cheeses, and there are specials and pre-made desserts, which are all fantastic. Devitis also carries very reasonably priced bread and other baked goods. A lot of Italian desserts and a wide selection of wine(and modest selection of beer). They even have a nice little produce section, which high quality vegetables. If you like Italian food and/or deli food, you should definitely check out Devitis. I stop by whether I need a quick sandwich or if I want to make some kickass Italian food at home.

I love this place more than words. I have hooked my kids on their cheese salad of all things. And, I keep my freezer stocked with the frozen meals for days I don’t want to cook. Simply the best.

The minute you walk in you are slapped in the face with the aromas of Florence, Napoli, and Roma! The meats are fresh and cut perfectly. The subs are delicious and perfectly balanced with each ingredient.

If you’re in the mood for a sub sandwich, stop here before heading to a local subway or grocery store. The first time I tried a sub from here was when I was much younger and my brothers football team would order them for away games for the players to eat on the way home. One day, there happened to be a few extras and I got a taste of one. Mind you all, I am an extremely picky eater. However, I loved the sandwich! You can literally taste the freshness of the meat in your mouth. My mom frequently buys the large subs and we’ll cut them up and eat them throughout the week. I’m not 100% sure of the type we get, I want to say it’s ham and cheese. However, there’s a little tinge of spiciness in the meat that makes it all the better. Also, I’m in love with the pizzelles! I have never been able to buy those cookies tasting like they were just made at home. If you’re in the area, stopping by is a must.

My very Italian family has been going to this place for as long as I can remember. Great meats, cheeses, breads, etc. I am a sucker for their green olive salad. I don’t know what they put in it to make it SO delicious, but I could eat a whole tub, by myself, in a day. I crave it! My family makes sure that we have it around for all major holidays, because evidently the rest of my family does as well. Well worth a visit!

Old school Italian grocery in a historically Italian(though no longer) neighborhood. Still run by the same family, still strictly employing local Italian high schoolers. They have produce, wines, everything you really need for an Italian meal. But let’s be serious, it’s all about the deli and the ready made items. Cold cut italian sandwiches are always available. I don’t really know why they are so good. Three meats, provolone, no veggies, add your own Italian dressing. It’s the best Italian sub ever! The meats are fresh from the deli. Another daily standby, they make their own pasta sauce and meatballs. I didn’t even like meatballs before tasting theirs. And they are huge! One meatball for person usually does it. I currently live in Cincinnati and made the huge mistake of following them on Facebook. As it turns out, they have ever changing hot lunch options every weekday. Look away unless you are actually within driving distance.

We are a couple of Pittsburgh types who went here off of a Unilocal recommendation before a wrestling tournament over at North Akron HS. After his weigh-in, my son was a hungry guy. Divitis did not disappoint. He had the pepperoni roll and the lasagna roll; I had the tomatoes/fresh mozzarella salad. We also bought pizelles. It was great. Here’s the thing — at 4PM, after the tournament ended, we went back for more. Eggplant roll. Cappacola and provolone on a fresh bun. And some fresh pasta to take home. Seriously, Akron — this place is a gem. You all should regularly show some love to this unique, family-owned ethnic shop. Glad we found it! Thanks, Unilocal
