Papa Don’s Pub

Ok. So I admit I was a bit terrified to come in, based on the outside looking like a biker bar. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the clean and friendly atmosphere. They have beer specials Sunday through Thursday, 5 – 9. I had their rib eye philly — it was decent, and the garlic aioli lingered long after the meal. Tasty, but avoid if on a date! The real star was the side of Mac and cheese– very creamy. My husband had some wings — he rated them as acceptable, and similar to many wing joints in the area. Overall, a great place to have a beer and watch a game, nothing special food-​wise but many decent options if you’re hangry.

Overall a good bar. Wings were just as good as anywhere else around here. But the beer is very cheap, which, for me, brings the rating to above average. It’s also a bit more low-​key and far enough from downtown so it’s not overrun by college kids– also a plus.

One of the nicer — and cleaner — bars in the area. Excellent beer selection, top-​notch service, and a nice covered patio out back to accommodate smokers.
I’ve eaten here and the food was just fine — reasonably priced, too. My only less-​than-​favorable observation here is that THE PLACE IS TOO BRIGHT INSIDE. While I don’t require a bar to be dark and mysterious, the lighting in this place (at night) is set too high up in the ceiling and isn’t particulalry flattering to patrons. It’s kinda like drinking in a gymnasium or school room… and it isn’t particularly relaxing. I liked it better one late afternoon when I stopped in and they hadn’t turned on all the lights yet…(see the interior photo, which I assume was taken at this time. It’s brighter in here at night.)
Still a perfectly good spot to check out when you want a cold beer and some good food — never been here when it’s really crowded. Has potential — the crowd here seems nice, too.

My oven didn’t work and we didn’t find out until four hours later on thanksgiving try Boston Market they laughed at us and lock the door the markets were closed (7 pm) called Papa Don’s the phone ringed a few times I hung up thinking the were closed they called us back and said the we’re open I asked if the had turkey and the said they did we went there wanting to buy turkey they said the were giving the turkey out and we could just have it we wanted to take the turkey home and we wanted to pay for it I was crying told them what happen and they filled a box of turkey and told us to have a happy thanksgiving and would not take any money that we tried to pay for the food. Its very nice to find a business that cares about the community and people they have earned our business and we will be going to Papa Don’s when we are doing take out. Oh yeah not only did they make thanksgiving happen for our family but the turkey was really good too. Thank you Papa Don’s !

Been here twice, so far very impressed. Cleanest bar around Goodyear, great food from what I have tried. Mac and Cheese is amazing. Lots of parking, nice outdoor smokers area with billiards, and nice patio area. Also, has a lunch club buy 5 get 6^th free.
