My friends, family… all of us travel from 30 minutes away to have our hair done at Seven Salon by Jenifer! Friendly and professional staff. The best products sold for hair care. Clean salon and fun environment. Our group has never been disappointed with our cut/​color. We love this place!

I went to Nikki for my second Deva curly cut at this salon and she was just as awesome as the first stylist Michelle Sue. It is hard to find a stylist that is great with curly thick hair like mine and 77 Salon not only has one but TWO stylists that can give me a wonderful cut. Nikki is warm, friendly and this salon has a new loyal customer. I have finally found my permanent salon!

Kristina have me an amazing blow out. My hair is supper thick, supper curly, and layered. Not an easy task. The staff are friendly too, no one has any egos. They all work together as team.

First of all I have to say that all the staff is really nice and the lady with short black curly hair who cut my moms hair was very nice. But I think it is way over priced. I took my 70 year old mom to get a hair cut. her hair was short and she got a bob cut she charged 80.00. I appreciate that they booked us on the same day.

Ive been coming to Seven since I was an undergraduate at Berkeley (about 5 years now). I can only speak for the overall environment and service provided by Brandon as I have never worked with another stylist here. That said, I am always greeted with a mimosa, a great way to start a day at the salon.
Brandon’s work is impeccable, he is extremely professional and takes a very consultative approach before starting the job. He lets you know what will and wont work and does his best to get you to where you want to be on the color spectrum. Needless to say, I think a lot of clients come in with pictures of what they want their hair to look like without a realistic grasp on whether they can actually get there. If you are a brunette you cannot become a platinum blonde in one seating!
The only cons would be that its difficult to get an appointment last minute, you should expect at minimum a month wait. Also, parking at the alameda location can be difficult, be sure to bring meter change.

So my experiences with 77 have been kind of all over the place. I started out there with a girl named Megan, saw her several times, and she suddenly took off to another salon with no warning– sayonara. Then I was with a girl named Jamie– she was sweet and fun and she did a good job the first couple times, but the last time she did my hair, she did a base adjust that left me looking totally brassy– which is a look that I ask my colorists to stay FAR away from. I left 77 at this point and started seeing another, closer colorist who did a comparable job but charged less. However, when I got married this March, my regular colorist left me wanting for more, especially so close to my big day– and after a less-​than-​stellar highlight/​lowlight job that left me with overly bright, unnaturally wide streaks of white blond that weren’t placed close enough to my scalp, I panicked and called 77. They offered to get me in at 530p, like a half hour before the salon closed, with Yolanda. Despite the time crunch, she spent a very good amount of time talking with me, and more importantly, LISTENING. She was friendly and *patient*, which is such a lost art. This is my head, and everyone sees it every day (most of all me), and I’m sooooo over having rushed stylists who half-​listen to my requests. Yolanda was wonderful, and really took the time to understand what I was saying, and further, to explain her understanding of my desires back to me to ensure we were on the same page. She also guided me a bit, and the end result was fabulous. She chose the PERFECT toner for me, and when she blew it dry, I could’ve cried I was so relieved. I walked in looking a ruddy, streaky mess, and I walked out with a glowing, soft champagne blonde. I couldn’t have been happier with the result. However, during that session, I explained to Yolanda that after my wedding, I wanted to go back to my natural color (an ashy dark blondish-​brown) because I was sick of the upkeep, the grow-​out phase, the lines of demarcation, etc. She asked me to wait 12 weeks and said it could be done in one session, so I did as instructed and then came back. The whole time I was there, she kept telling me that I was not going to like my natural hair, that the shock would be too much, that it would look «drab,» and that it wouldn’t have any shine or depth. Ummm, thanks? She convinced me that the only way I’d look halfway decent is if she put in «just a few» highlights. I explained that I didn’t want to end up having to come back, and that the entire reason I’d waited three months (which was torture, btw, having long, dark roots with light blonde hair– it looked terrible) was because I wanted to be done with color all together– highlights, lowlights, what have you– DONE. She said she understood, but ended up putting in way more than just a few, and now I’m left with yet ANOTHER line of demarcation– one which I went thru 3 months of shitty regrowth just to avoid having in the future– and now I have to «start» all over again. The highlights mixed in with the darker color she dyed my hair make it look orange-​y; I look like a redhead, instead of my natural color. Also, I was pretty displeased that she «handed me off» to a junior stylist for the toning– he was sweet but seemed unsure of what he was doing. I’m just really annoyed by the whole thing– I should have stuck to my guns and told her «no highlights,» but she kept pushing me to do them, and she’s the colorist, so I trusted her judgment. I shouldn’t have– my hair looks like crap, and now I have to start the whole process of growing out my old color again.

About a month after I wrote my review, I received an email response to the one I’d sent about the same time. Without asking me what had happened, I was told there must have been a «misunderstanding,» and I could receive a «discount» for future services. I declined. I wasn’t trying to get a free haircut (not that one was ultimately offered), I was just perplexed that I’d paid so much for one that was sub par and was treated so poorly for no reason. I wanted to communicate that, and I did. Faulty service until the end, in an industry that is all about service.

I have been a client here for over a year and have always had great experiences. Due to my kind of crazy work schedule I try to get whatever appointments I can, and have booked appointments with Kim, Jaime, Deanna and Laura and loved my hair every time. Their highlights are amazing and I have never left unhappy. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone and absolutely love coming here!

For anyone with thick, frizzy, rebellious hair Jaime is a miracle worker.
My struggling came to an end when Jaime took the time to demonstrate exactly how to properly blow dry my hairl After a great cut with with the right tools I can honestly say my hair is done and I am ready to start my day in half the time.
Making the investment on a good cut and a little bit of product has saved me.
I recommend Jaime 100% to ALL for a fresh look, in HALF the time.

Love this salon so much! Niki does such an awesome job and is very careful every time with my hair. I highly recommend her! I enjoy coming here because I get to relax, sip mimosas, and enjoy the beautiful space while gettin’ my hair did! What more can a mom ask for? I’ve tried other salons and they can’t compare to Seven! The owners too are really nice and awesome gals! Once you try this salon you’ll be a convert.

I absolutely love coming here. I will never go anywhere else. Everyone is always extremely friendly and helpful. I have never had a bad experience here. Right when you walk in the door people are smiling and offering you a drink. Fantastic service.

Every time I looked in the mirror, I became more and more irked by the botched cut I received. I decided that I needed to speak to someone at the salon about my frustrations. I phoned their Oakland location intending to speak to the owner, who was unavailable, so I gave the receptionist a run down of how my experience with Kimberly went. She was apologetic and offered a complimentary retouch with Katya the same day. For the third day in a row, I walked myself into their Alameda location. Katya seemed to understand the aesthetic of hair a lot better than Kimberly. She acknowledged the cut that I was given was far off from what I had originally wanted, and took her time in attempting to fix it. She did the best she could, and it ended up looking a little better. Katya had to cut slightly more off leaving me with even shorter hair.
Katya seems like a good stylist. But at the end of the day, the damage had already been done.
I stand by my original comment, that I’m sure there are great stylist here, Katya potentially being one of them, but I cannot bear leaving a salon regretting having cut my hair to begin with. Disappointed and seven hours spent in total, I would’ve way rather spent $ 500 with someone I KNEW would do a good job.

I have that tricky thick straight Asian hair. And, I have been to many salons, from Walnut Creek to San Leandro, and sadly their stylists were unable to tame my tresses.
Until C.J. worked his magic with my hair. I have to admit at first I was a little scared because the last guy who cut my hair (somewhere else) traumatized me. To the point that I had to let my hair grow out for several months until I was comfortable getting it shaped again.
C.J is a light conversationalists– which I appreciate because it lets me know he is focusing. (I feel when a stylist talks way too much they are trying to distract you from the mess they are creating like the last guy who butchered my hair. Some people like chatty stylists but I appreciate the extra attention on my hair. Since that is what I’m paying for.)
When C. J was finished (washing, cutting and styling) ofcourse my hair was in shock. So, it didn’t settle accordingly on the spot. But, once I got home and was able to tweek it a little. My once heavy blah hair looked flowy and beautiful. (And, my husband loved it. My husband has witnessed the disasters my hair has undergone. So, he recognizes a good cut when he sees it.)

I’ve had 4 cuts from Seven Salon.
It was my first time to their Alameda location, I love the old victorian and all the natural sun light that pours in.
My former stylist moved away so when I called to make an appointment this past time I was reffered to Jamie, who was super great.
She analysed my hair and how Megan had been cutting it. Then helped me figure out what to do to freshen up my cut. She took her time and didn’t rush at all. And I’m super happy how it turned out!

I have been a regular client (at the College Ave location) for over 4 years! My fantastic stylist is Nikki. I get my base color, highlights and a cut every 3 months. The results are always so fantastic! Nikki is very skilled with my fine hair. She really takes her time to place and prep the highlights. I totally trust her to do different things with the highlights (placement, colors etc.)
I must say that ALL the stylist at Seven Salon are extremely talented and professional hair people. The clientele is a wide range: all ages and all styles from conservative to edgy. I did see Marie once (due to a last minute scheduling change) and she was excellent too. If you are new to the salon, when you call, just tell the front desk about your hair and what you are looking for, they will give you a couple names of the right stylist for you.
I am really happy they have opened this second location in Alameda, the salon is beautiful!
Currently, the stylists are splitting their time between both locations, awesome!

After getting my second cut from Deanne, I feel I can write a trustworthy review for her services. In short, she’s wonderful!
I’ve had my hair cut by the same woman in San Diego since I was five. Any time I tried to branch out, it ended disastrously until my first time at Seven Salon on College. Deanne was patient as I described the simple cut I wanted, and she delivered perfectly. My hair is very thick and awkwardly wavy and straight simultaneously, but she did a wonderful job with it.
My second time seeing her was at the new location on Park in Alameda, where she did a great job once again. Since she will always be at the new location in Alameda on Saturdays, I guess I’ll be driving there for my cuts from now on. The new Alameda location is bright and airy with high ceilings and lots of natural light. Definitely a relaxing, luxurious atmosphere there.
My only gripe is that services are relatively pricey at $ 75 — not too crazy, but a little on the higher end of the spectrum. Still, this won’t deter me from coming back, as the service is great. Lastly, appointments are recommended, but they’ll take walk-​ins if there’s availability (which is rare — I’ve tried).

I recently had my highlights done by Yolanda at Seven Salon in Alameda. I normally get my hair colored by Yolanda and cut by Nikki at their Oakland location, but I was able to get an appointment with Yolanda earlier than usual at their new Alameda location.
My highlights by Yolanda were (and are) amazing as usual and the new salon is gorgeous. It is spacious, with lots of light and room. It is very high-​end. Not to mention the parking in Alameda is way cheaper!
If you are looking for a new place to get your hair done this is definitely the place to go! Also if you normally go to their Oakland location don’t hesitate to try this one out! It was a wonderful experience!
