In business for more than 35 years, Alameda Custom Framing specializes in gallery quality custom frames for artwork, photographs and mirrors. We carry all materials and finishes of frames including wood, composition metal, gold leaf, stained, painted, natural or any combination called for by the project.

With well over 1,300 frame samples in our showroom, our diverse collection includes contemporary frames as well as Grand French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Asian and Pleine Aire. With an emphasis on high-​end, closed-​corner designs, we produce quality frames no other chain store can match. All of our custom frames are hand build to order on site.

We also offer full service framing including custom cut matte boards, shadow boxes and specialty frames. If you want to display it, we can build a frame for it.

History

Established in 1974.

Tom and Helen have been in business for 35 years in Alameda and started when they took over Vosburg’s Hardware in 1974, the longest running business in Alameda. Helen, who was an artist in her home country of South Korea began building and selling custom frames in a corner of the store. Over the years, the framing business has taken over the majority of their business so they decided to focus primarily on Custom Framing. And in January of 2009, they relocated to a new store where they are now solely a custom frame shop. They decided to stay in Alameda where they have deep rooted ties to the local community.

Business Owner

Helen and her husband Tom have been running their framing business for over 35 years and have become a fixture in the Alameda business community. Originally from South Korea, Helen received her degree in Fine Arts with an emphasis in oil paining from Ehwa University. She is very detail oriented and has a strong understanding of color theory and image balance which she applies to her framing work. She definitely has a unique and aesthetically please sense of style.
