Been coming here for years for AAU basketball tourneys and Alameda Youth Basketball practices and tourneys since the closure of Alameda NAS. This gym was clearly the gym for Alameda NAS and its age shows it. It has four full basketball courts which are short of regulation as well as too narrow, and the noise when all the courts are going is stupefying. The floors are in good shape, but I believe court no. 1 to the far left has only temporary basket standards. The building itself is old, but holding up with no leaks. The bathrooms are downright awful. They have aluminum bleacher seating between the courts. They’re usually crowded, but sufficient. If you decide to bring your own lawn chair for the sake of your back, you can fit it in the far ends of the courts without bothering anyone. Lots of parking across the street and at the far end next to the skate park. The AAU tournaments usually have the organizers selling candy and hot dogs and chili under canopies next to the entrance. The landscaping is returning to a natural state. Once I saw an abandoned black bunny rabbit hopping around in the bushes. In all the years I’ve been to this gym, I’ve only seen once time, the single full size court in operation with their glass backboards swung down for use.

Decent place to play pick up games on sunday. $ 6 gets you in from 6−9PM. There were a few basketball games running and a few volleyball games. The courts are pretty slippery and dirty. Probably the best indoor courts you’re gonna get in Alameda unless you go to Oakland. People are nice here, but overall facilities are average

Huge gym with three full courts for basketball and also set up for volleyball… there are adult volleyball leagues played here that are pretty intense… I believe its also rentable through the city.
