Alameda See Spot Run

We love See Spot Run in Alameda! We’ve been buying our dog food there since Dog Bone Alley Closed and it’s another great local business! They have a nice selection of dog food, treats, & toys. We bring our Yorkie, Lucy, to Trish for grooming and she is awesome! We used to take Lucy to Under One Woof, but they became so crowded and it was hard to get an appointment. The customer service became very bad at Under One Woof and our pup would become very nervous there. Trish takes great care of Lucy and always does a consistently great job.

I have taken my dog here three times to be groomed. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. My dog shivers and shakes no matter who what when or why grooms her but she always walks happily into the shop! (Still doesn’t love the grooming part, but the groomers are very kind and understanding).
The products are priced very reasonably as well.

Kelly at See Spot Run literally helped save our poodle’s life! We’ve been bringing two of our dogs to Kelly at See Spot Run for about three years now. She has always been so patient and loving with our dogs. They both have special needs and she completely caters to them. Most importantly, her eagle eye and detailed grooming caught a VERY small mast cell tumor on our poodle’s tail. It ended up being cancer and had to be removed. The surgeon was amazed Kelly detected it and our sweet Hoppy is cancer free. We also buy our pet supplies here. They always stock high quality food and have the best price on bully sticks I’ve ever found. Five stars for See spot Run!

This was the worst experience ever! I took my 2 dogs to go get groomed by a girl named Kelly and she was awful. I took them here because on their site it said «low stress» and that they give dogs «TLC» and they have «great customer service». I also wanted to shop for some treats, toys and a car seat for them. however when I got there Kelly told me I couldn’t be in the store at all while they got groomed. I thought this was weird so I asked questions about it. I didn’t want to be in the back room, I just wanted to be in the store. I went to the front desk to ask questions because Kelly was being very short with me about her wanting me leaving to go home then she call me to pick up my dogs. When I told her I live to far she told me to go for a walk (it’s freezing outside Btw). When I talked to the front desk the girl said I could stay in the store. At the end of the convo with the front desk the manger takes my dog to me and says that Kelly is not comfortable with grooming my dogs because of my concerns (I only questioned why I needed to leave).
Kelly did wash one of my dogs (terribly), he had flakes of skin on his fur, his eyes were all red and he looked stressed. My dog normally likes bathes and people. I wish I never went here because I’m left feeling like she might have treated my dog poorly because she didn’t like me questioning why I needed to leave the store… I still think it’s weird why I’d need to wait outside in the cold.
To sum up, Im never ever getting my dogs groomed here and I’m never ever shopping there. I don’t trust them. They have terrible customer service, they did a bad job grooming one of my dogs and I question their ethics.

They have organic products which I am super happy and the Brand Orijen for cats and kitten! The customer service here is amazing such nice people who are honest and know the products that they are selling (unlike petco). I recently switched from Blue Buffalo to Orijen because I heard many reviews talking about how Blue makes animals sick! Though my baby hasn’t gotten ill yet it’s better safe than sorry! They don’t pressure you into buying things, they are very helpful. It’s also such a cute and clean store! They help animals from Hopalong rescue/​shelter in finding a home too! There’s two adorable lovable kittens at the store in case you want to adopt! MY NEW FAVORITE PLACE TO GET THINGS FOR MY CAT-​SON!

I like the selection this store has in terms of toys and treats for my small dogs.
I decided to bring my two small dogs (both under 20 lbs) in for a nail trim because I have had good service every time. I called the morning of to schedule an appointment for them. The person on the phone was short with me. I was ten minutes late to my appointment and Kelly seemed to be in a bad mood because of it or something else. I tried to ask if she wanted me to come back another time but she cut me off and snatched one of my dogs away. When that dog was finished, she came out with her, didn’t say a word, switched leashes with me. I wanted to tell her that that dog had separation anxiety and does better with me around but Kelly was being too short with me, so she took the second one into the back. Next thing I know Kelly is walking toward me with the second dog. All she said was «I can’t do this one. She pooped and peed on me and scratched me», turned around and walked away. I really would have liked to speak with her about the situation. Overall, her attitude was poor and her customer service skills were lacking. I understand that I was late, but it would have been better to tell me to come back. My dogs can get very anxious and will not respond well if their human handler is angry or upset.
I will not be back for any merchandise or grooming services.

This place does kid’s birthday parties! My daughter was turning 7 and wanted some type of petting zoo, pony ride, or other animal party. This is SO much cheaper/​easier than having a farm brought to your house! Cynthia was really nice and loves kids. We did a craft and had lunch/​cake (food and craft supplied by me). Then, Cynthia brought out her special pets for the kids to learn about and pet. We met 2 guinea pigs, a rabbit, a kitten, a dog, a bird, and the most amazing pet of all… a hedgehog! It was fun, easy and super cute!
The room is big enough for up to 10 kids. If your kids have a lot of energy and need space to run around, this might not be the right spot. But, for a group of 6 girls, it was perfect.

A great alternative to larger pet stores! I pick up Orijen here for way less than I would at competitor stores — I’m not mortgaging my house, basically. Which is great because I have a problematic skin allergy dog.
Overall, great variety of non-​commercial pet foods and they sell chicken feed, which is good if you have backyard chickens. Staff is okay, nice enough, but I know what I’m doing in a pet store so I don’t care how they are. Good prices on raw and they carry Small Batch and goat’s milk.

My 2 year old Shepherd loves to see Kelly for grooming. She is wonderful! My dog is very timid and Kelly puts her right at ease, does a fantastic job and really goes the extra mile for the animals.

I’ve been looking for a groomer in Alameda and found this place right here. I had to wait 2 weeks for an appointment but it was more than worth it, and I can see why they are booked! Kelly gave my dog (Maddie the golden retriever) THE BEST grooming ever. Super welcoming and awesome staff. We will definitely be back considering my dog just decided to take a dip in the bay right after we got home !

I visited this store in passing with my son last year. He was only three at the time and super excited to see what was inside. The clerks/​reps were VERY unfriendly to us. Everything was a «No».
We couldn’t hold the rabbit which was slightly understandable but not my average experience.
He wanted to pet the cat at the front desk. Their answer was «No. He bites».
My son needed to use the restroom. The answer was «no». I am sure they’ve allowed others to use the restroom, especially a potty-​training child.
In short, I’m not sure if were stereotyped as not being from the area but it sure felt like it. I do not want to expose my child to such negative experiences, especially at the age of three. So I chose not to ever revisit. Island Print Express down the street is an awesome business though!

Love this local family owned store. Carries only quality products that are good for your dog or cat. Always friendly & helpful. Offers to order if you need something they don’t have in stock. If you have young kids, you can hold birthday parties there complete with demos about pet care.

I take my dog here to get his nails trimmed. It’s really the only thing I frequent this shop for but I love it all the same. My dog gets nervous around new people but the girl who trims his nails is so quick about it that I don’t think he even realized what’s going on. and best of all… only 12 bucks!

I was looking for a particular brand and formula of dog food. The store does not stock the item but Cynthia was able to locate the item from their distributor and stock it for us. We did have a run in where the dog food price spiked suddenly. I emailed Cynthia and she promptly looked into it and discovered that it was just a clerical error when they switched their computer system. She immedately refunded my credit card and I came back to pay the old price of the dog food. It’s good to know that great customer service still exists! I love working with Alameda See Spot Run because they go out of their way to make their customers happy.

Such a charming and sweet shop with friendly and incredibly helpful staff. They know their pet food and are more than happy to chat with you about the nutritional value of the excellent food they carry and help you decide what might be best for your dog or cat (in my case, both!) Their prices are just right (especially their bully sticks!)
They will even order specialty items that they don’t normally carry if you’re looking for a particular product.
As a local pet professional, I love coming here to stock up on supplies for my canine clients and feel great about supporting my town and the small business community.
An added bonus is that they’re huge supporters of rescue animals and regularly host pets looking for their fur-​ever homes in their shop.

Cute store! Great name! I originally noticed a few birds in the window at night who were not covered and right under bright florescent lights which upset me greatly since I know how emotional these birds are and know birds depend on natural lighting to sleep properly and thus live healthfully. I previously wrote a review noting the poor treatment of these animals which was not ok. However, the owner Cynthia did reply to me explaining she had just taken in the birds and had not realized the lighting could affect the birds. Next time I passed by the shop at night, I noticed one of the birds was covered and the other birds had been moved to a darker spot in the shop for proper care. I have increased my rating from 2 – 4 stare since I have seen that the owner does care about animals and took the proper precautions to assure her pets are well taken care of. Thank you!

My dog and I love coming here after visiting the vet down the street. Nice little boutique that was recommended to me to buy raw food the first time I visited a few weeks ago. I purchased Primal frozen nuggets which was $ 5 less for the 3lb bag than my local Pet Food Express.
We dropped by again today and had more time to browse. Great selection of toys, food, treats, etc… I even found dried chicken foot and deer stick which I am not able to get at the local chain near my house.
I love this place for the variety and the friendliness of the staff.
I wish they were closer to where I live, but we will definitely stop by whenever we are in the neighborhood.

The Best… just the best! When I called for an appointment (we just moved here), the groomer said, «Yes, I know Tibetan Spaniels». I was impressed as they are still considered a rare pure bred and we have moved a lot. A new groomer always makes me nervous, and even more so now as our little guy is a show dog.
I walked in and there was Kelly, the groomer of my previous 2 Tibetan Spaniels from years ago in Concord! I immediately felt relieved, and knew that my tibbie, Buddy, would be in good hands! Kelly did a great job, and the store and people who work there are very friendly and nice.
Kelly couldn’t be nicer, and is very talented. I will definately be back!

No words can explain how great this place is!!!
I was scheduled for a 9am appointment for my dog. I came in and was quickly welcomed by the groomer (Kelly). I walked to the back and signed a very quick little form and she asked what I wanted to have done and that was it! I felt so comfortable with her! She even showed me the wash area. So this is what really had me, momo my Pomeranian is a little feisty and sensitive. But within a minute he was fine with her!
I was told to come back 1 – 2 hours later. Which I did and they were very efficient with calling my cell phone right when he was finished. He looks PERFECT!

I’ve mentioned before how incredible of a store See Spot Run is. the one-​on-​one personal attention, knowledge about maaany different types of animals and setups, and friendliness continues to impress me– time and time again.
this time, I have to tell you about their grooming services. I believe I mentioned in my last review that I am in the pet care industry. that being said, I have worked with a lot of groomers. a lot. a lot a lot.
See Spot Run’s *brand new* groomer, Kelly, trumps them all.
many groomers will not listen to you– they «know» what you «really» want. often, going to a specialty groomer is met with attitude. going to a big box groomer, it’s likely you run into someone who hasn’t been trained well and doesn’t have a lot of experience. Kelly is none of these things.
I bring my clients’ dogs to Kelly. with detailed instructions, she follows them to a T. with a minimal set of instructions, she knows just what to do. with no instruction, she has advice. she is super sweet and kind, and sometimes when I’m doing my shopping I get to overhear her while she works. she is constantly talking to your pet, making them feel at ease. at very reasonable prices, you end up with extremely high quality work.
again, I work with furry quadrupeds for a living and I take my personal dog to Kelly for grooming. I’d have it no other way.
