Alameda Smiles

Dr Huang was very gracious, thorough and skilled for my ROoT CANAl!!!
I had a bicycle crash and my front tooth fractured. I called 30 dentist for an emergency appoint and none would make an exception for me except alameda smiles. I have medi cal and Aetna insurance. My jobs insurance, Aetna, didn’t allow me to use alameda smiles because it takes a month to switch dentist!!! And medi cal showed that I have Aetna insurance so I ended up paying cash. Dr Huang understood and gave me a stellar deal and we scheduled an appointment the next day. For 3 hours of work on my tooth, he charged me 800. Which is pretty fair. I highly recommend dr Huang not only because of his skill but also his commitment to people’s well being.

From setting up and appointment, being greeted and taken care of, they have a really great staff!
I set up an appointment as a new client on Thursday for the following Monday. I was able to get an appointment super easy! I had an appointment email from Angela and she sent me the paperwork to print and fill out before my appointment (which was the very first appointment of the day).
This was my first dental appointment in a very long time. The reason that urged me to book an appointment was due to my wisdom teeth coming in.
Their receptionist was super kind and helped me get everything taken care of while I waited. I was taken back and the Dental Dental Hygienist helped put me at ease with conversation. She took my dental x-​rays and did my cleaning.
Oh the cleaning. She did a GREAT job! I was borderline regular cleaning and deep cleaning (Understandable since I haven’t had a cleaning in years and I’m a horrible flosser).
I then had more x-​rays with another staff for my back/​wisdom teeth. They were all great with communication with what they were going to do and I complied as best as I could. Afterwards, I had my visit with the Dentist. He let me know they can do the extractions for my wisdom teeth there or if I preferred they can refer me to a different place.
I had such a great first experience with them that I booked my appointment for my extractions with them. I’ll be getting all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out. WOWZERS! I’m nervous, but anxious to finally have them extracted.
Overall, I was in great hands! I’m sorry for not remembering your names, but all of you were fantastic and super nice! Thank you for making my first visit back to the Dentist the most pleasant! I can’t wait to continue going to Alameda Smiles!

Dr. Fong is by far the best dentist I have ever had. Growing up I had a serious fear of dentists (after having several not so pleasant experiences), so bad in fact that I did not go for a quite a few years. Which in turn, I ended up with cavities that slowly but surely ate away at my teeth and I eventually exposed the nerves causing the need for two root canals (which I had never had any major work done to my teeth prior), two cavities, deep cleaning, wisdom teeth extraction and whitening. Of these procedures I have successfully had an emergency root canal as well as two «regular» root canals and will be going in today for my deep cleaning and so far I have nothing bad to say. Dr. Fong took the time to explain everything he was doing to me before, during and after the procedure; as well discussing what options I had and what he would recommend. I constantly rave about Dr. Fong to my friends and family. I am like a walking advertisement.
His hygienist Yolanda makes me very at ease before we begin each procedure. And receptionist Maria is always professional and answers any and all billing questions I have. Just having these two makes my visits so much easier and more pleasant. Dr. Fong could not have picked better staff members (unless I was on his staff of course). I appreciate everything that they do and how much easier it makes my life just to know that I don’t need to worry about anything when it is time for my appointments. They give me reminders and work with my schedule as well.
I actually enjoying going to my dentist office now and look forward to continuing treatment with Dr. Fong as long as he is in practice.

I’ve been going to this office off and on for about 10 years. When I live in the bay area, this is where I come twice a year. There’s a reason why I keep coming back. I feel like they know what they are doing, that they care about my dental health, and they are not shady. I’ve been to some offices where they do unnecessary xrays or suggest unnecessary procedures – but Dr Fong’s office does not do that. I feel they are honest and totally trust them.
That said, I recently had an experience with their billing that was very annoying and didn’t make me feel like a valued client.
I had a teeth cleaning in May, right before leaving the country for a 2 month assignment for work. When I returned in July, I had about 7 pieces of mail from their office. All were bills for the teeth cleaning in May. Some of the bills have handwritten notes, saying I need to pay this asap, another one saying that this will go to collections. I have always had insurance and should not be billed for a regular teeth cleaning. Obviously, something is wrong. My insurance has not changed – I’m not sure why they were not able to apply the same process as last time for a claim.
I also received a voice mail, and their tone of voice made it seem like I was trying to pull a fast one on them. Really? I’ve been a client for 10 years and this is what you assume from me? Where is the benefit of the doubt that there’s a mistake with you and not with me?
I returned their call when I got back and gave them the phone number for my dental insurance. It was the same one as the previous claim. Magically, I just received an email from my insurance saying the claim has been processed. I did not receive a call or apology from the dental office for their harassment and mistake with the claim.
I’m not sure if I want to continue going to this office. On one hand, I like the dentist. On the other hand, my opinion of their customer service has changed, and I do not appreciate being harassed over $ 130. I may shop around for another office. Anyone know of any good dentists in the area?

Dr. Fong is a very good and attentive doctor. His office is high tech (which I appreciate) and his staff is friendly. The only reason he isn’t getting a higher rating from me is that he highly recommended Dr. Terry Pratt who gave me the worst dental (and more importantly billing) experience that I’ve ever had. Anyway, if you’re looking for a good dentist in alameda for general care, and he takes your insurance, he’s a very good dentist.

Dr. Fong has been my dentist for over 15 years.
Great service, exceptional quality wonderful helpful staff what more could you ask for? Everyone makes you feel like family and they never try to sell you anything that you don’t need… you never feel pressured when you’re here.
If you are looking for a high quality dentist then i suggest Dr. Fong!

I have been going to Dr. Fong’s office for 5 years now and love the friendly service and love how they take care of my teeth. Alice is the best hygienist and is super nice and very gentle with your teeth. She remembers you and makes you feel comfortable in her chair. Dr. Fong is also a very good and honest dentist. Rather than selling you unnecessary procedures and extra appointments he watches your teeth and makes notes and tells you when you are improving and how to prevent unnecessary procedures. Best Teeth Whitening system too!
