History

Established in 2003.

I’ve been fixing my own and my family’s computers for 35 years. A friend I met in a computer class called me to say that her computer was broken, I could fix it (from what she’d seen of me in class), and that she would pay me to fix it. From there, a business grew. In 2008, I was laid off from a programming job, and this side job became my main employment. It’s been gradually growing since, but so far it’s still a one-​woman business.

I’m a Foreign Service brat, an avid reader, crafter, and gardener, and fascinated by computers. I’ve been playing with them since the ‘70s, fixing them when they broke and upgrading them as new features became available. I’ve programmed in several languages, but my special trick is translating between tech and English (sorry, I can’t do more than limp along in any other language). I can explain things so that a non-​techie can understand, and translate a non-​technical request into specs for buying or configuring something. I enjoy the logic puzzle of figuring out computers and what they’re up to _​this_​time.
