California Alternative Sexuality Education is an awesome panel of speakers and presenters who give presentations on alternative sexuality topics. We provide classes for a range of audiences, including helping professionals seeking CEU credit. CEU courses provided by CASE cover the impact of alternative sexualities on case conceptualization, the therapeutic relationship, and resolving presenting client issues.

Course topics include:

*Nontraditional relationships (open relationships, polyamory, nonmonogamy, and swinging)

*Alternative sexual practices (consensual BDSM, fetishism, and kink)

*Sexual and gender orientations (LGB and queer sexualities, trans* issues, asexuality)

We meet MFT, LCSW, LEP, and LPCC scopes of practice by:

*Teaching providers skills to facilitate clients with alternative sexualities and their partners in achieving more adequate, satisfying, and productive relationships while reinforcing their emotional and mental health

*Providing clinicians with differential diagnostic criteria to aid them in diagnosing disorders/​problems of adjustment rather than inadvertently pathologizing client lifestyle

*Paying special consideration to crisis intervention in situations involving alternative sexuality for LEPs and LPCCs

*Providing online and community referrals to allow clinicians and clients to effectively connect to ongoing resources

CASE is a Provider of Continuing Education (as CA Alternative Sexuality Education), PCE #5626.

History

Established in 2013.

Board of Founders Pepper Mint, Jen Day, Jon Spinner, and MacKenzie Stuart founded CASE in 2013 to meet the needs to helping professionals seeking specific clinical interventions for managing the therapeutic relationship with altsex clients. Each of them have been teaching courses within the community for quite some time, but CASE represents their first coordinated outreach to those who serve (or wish to serve!) members of that community.

Pursuing licensure as a Provider of Continuing Education through the Board of Behavioral Sciences was an obvious next step, as it allows helping professionals to not expand the reach of their practices, but meet their ongoing requirements for professional development.
