Chow Down Special is one of my favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat. They have an extensive menu consisting of the usual taco truck staples like burritos, tacos, quesdaillas, as well as American items like burgers, chicken sandwiches, and hot dogs. The majority of items are $ 5 and under which makes it a great place for a cheap lunch. Everything is freshly made to order. Tip: Ask about the special of the day. For example, Thursday is fried chicken special day and Friday is seafood specials(shrimp cocktails, fish tacos etc) If it’s a cold day they might have Mexican soup as well. Location: Until about 9AM you can find them in the parking lot of Group Delphi and during lunch hour(12pm) they are in the Artemis Racing parking lot.

During a temporary project on the old Naval Base on Alameda, my coworkers and I have had to take short lunches, but got tired of the fast food on Webster. Then we heard the beckoning call of the Chow Down Express… the horn that plays La Cucaracha. Now it comes by our trailer at noon everyday to deliver deliciousness. I recommend the chili rellenos, steak quesadillas, grilled cheese, veggie burrito, fish tacos, breakfast sandwich… I dont think anyone has had anything bad actually! And if you are skeptical, just grab a bag of chips and a bottled beverage. The people who run it are also very nice. If they have something special, they will let you taste, and if you practice your Spanish, they wont make fun of your horrible accent :) Also, since its so casual, the menu is flexible, and you can add or subtract things to your hearts content. Downside, cash only and they don’t give receipts. Also you feel kind of bad if you walk or drive past them and don’t buy something :)
