I used all three rental agencies in Alameda, and I was the least impressed by Gallagher & Linsey. They don’t even let you look at their apartment listings until they «hard hit» your credit report (as if you are buying a house). Then when you apply for an apartment they never get back to you.
I found Harbor Bay Rentals much more personable & attentive. They kept me updated on all of the apartments I applied for, and treated me with respect.

Troy Staten was fantastic. Great attitude, and an awesome sense of humor. Troy knows Alameda like the back of his hand and I strongly recommend using a local agent in this town. He was very accommodating and was willing to meet with us, and show homes after work, early Saturday, or pretty much whenever we couldn’t make it to an open home. He’s well connected and works with a great lender who like Troy, was extremely professional. Troy also came up with an awesome bidding strategy for both homes we bid on, and we were able to find an even better home on the second house we bid on (which was accepted and are moving into now). I strongly recommended hiring Troy as your realtor.

Barbara Henry is an amazing agent. She helped us get our apartment, which we love! She is very attentive, polite, extremely professional and patient. She has heard my concerns and kindly accommodated all my requests; Barbara goes the extra mile. She is a good listener and is honest in what she offers to her clients. I am so glad we enlisted the service of Gallagher and Lindsay to find our apartment.
We had tried other rental companies, but I felt that the properties that they were offering where not worth of the price, the agents did not have answer for my questions and did not seem interested in following up to give me answers. Gallagher and Linsey are a team of professionals that thrive to get clients what they are looking for in a property. In my case they matched my vision of a home and made me feel comfortable throughout the rental process. They have no competition in Alameda, they offer the best properties for the best prices.

Troy Staten was the listing agent on a property that just closed in Alameda. I am the mortgage loan office who did the financing for the Buyers. My customers used a different Realtor from Alameda to represent them. As the original closing date started approaching I was getting nervous as I wasn’t sure if I was going to get loan approval on time. Troy and my Buyers agent worked out a five day extension. When it was evident I was not going to be able to close the loan by the end of the 1st extension date I started to call and communicate that I knew we were going to get there but that we simply needed a tiny bit more time. Troy was so understanding and helpful in calming me down as by this point I knew my Buyers were VERY concerned. He was able to negotiate a second extension that gave us enough time to get it done. I got final loan approval as promised and the deal closed one day early of the second extension date. He handled the whole process like a pro’s pro. He has a great demeanor under difficult circumstances and is the kind of guy you want on your team when involved in a real estate transaction. He handled the pressure that always comes at closing time with ease. I really enjoyed working with him and even though I live in Seattle, if I lived in Alameda or anywhere nearby, I would not hesitate to use him to represent me in a purchase or sale transaction.

Carolina is a very energetic and motivated agent. She handled every step of our sale with the utmost professionalism. As a member of the trusted and experienced Gallagher and Lindsey real estate team, Carolina went the extra mile to expose our listing to as many eyes as possible. There were multiple open houses, mailed flyers, internet ads, physical ads, and a brokers tour.
From the first week we contacted each other, we setup our ‘plan’. First the cleaning and staging to the photo shoot. Carolina provided a professional photographer to come in and take several pictures of the highest quality. These photos were used for all the various media outlets and the MLS listing.
We had multiple offers come in on our ‘offer date’ and she guided us through the details of the offers and we closed smoothly. The whole process could not have gone any smoother. Carolina is an excellent Realtor in Alameda with a bright future.

Our G&L agent was Susan Kaney, and she was excellent. She was proactive about helping us find houses to tour, and then following up when we saw something of interest. Most of all, she was patient dealing with us, a group of three diverse people buyers to purchase jointly. Her past experience, can-​do attitude, and proactive help in getting information and referrals we needed all helped us move through several unsuccessful offers, and then a purchase, within a reasonable time frame and our overall budget.

Worked with Troy Staten three years ago to buy a home on The Island after moving back to the Bay Area from Sacramento.
Found Troy by chance… he was hosting an open house. After talking with him for some time, decided just liked the guy and so, asked him to work with me.
Troy was very knowledgeable about Alameda and all the various neighborhoods. It took me four months to find a house, looking every weekend. Troy was patient and thoughtful about helping me define what I really wanted. Ended up in a Rancher off of Shoreline, which is totally what I thought I didn’t want initially. (I have always lived in Victorians or prewar bungalows). We even looked in the Oakland Hills a bit. Being close to the beach and the park is cool thought, as is the simple living that a Ranch house provides.
Troy was patient while I searched. Personable and funny. Helped me submit multiple bids for multiple houses, which we lost. Then we got one! Great at keeping the closing process moving forward. Very helpful in getting quotes for some repair work needed on the house. He’s been great at keeping in touch too; periodically sends me an email just to check in.
I would work with Troy again, definitely. Problem for him, though… Happy where we landed. Will probably stay put for a while.

Troy Staten of Gallagher & Lindsey is an excellent real estate agent. He has it all: years of experience, thorough knowledge of the area, strong negotiating skills, a great personality, contacts with local tradesmen, and endless patience. For example, he showed my wife and I a very hot property that needed a bit of work. We knew that other people planned to bid on the property within the day, but we needed a firm quote regarding the cost to renovate. Troy called a local contractor with a great reputation. The contractor came right down to the house and we had a professional estimate within the hour. I strongly recommend Troy. He deserves every star of this five-​star review.

I never had the opportunity to rent from L+G but I did buy a house through one of their realtors. The service was amazing, attention to detail and Kirk helped us through the process as first time home buyers. The opposing sales lady was a pain in the ass, but again Kirk kept us cool and in the end we got exactly what we wanted.
I don’t know anything else about the other realtors but working with Kirk was a dream and I’ll highly recommend him and/​or use him again if needed…
