Gelatipop

I’m easily impressed by shops with cute ideas. Just had lunch with coworkers and had a bit of extra time leftover so we wandered over to this new Gelati Popsicle shop. (Well, as new as last August, that is. Guess I don’t get out here often enough.)
What? Gelato! What? Popsicle! What!!! How does this work? Hook, line, and sinker… I tell ya!
The freezer case was lined with gelato popsicles of varying flavors. Choose your dip. Choose your toppings.
It may not have been the best gelato or frozen treat I’ve ever had but I give them 4 stars for opening a shop with an interesting idea.
A perfect sweet treat after a delicious lunch. Time for a nap… I mean, work! Time for work (blink blink).

This was my first time going here and I knew it was a dupe for Popbar, and I’ve never been to Popbar even though I live in SoCal so I wanted to try Gelatipop and see what it was like while I’m back home in the bay for winter break. You basically pick a Popsicle flavor, a dipping sauce and your toppings. I was overwhelmed by the different types of combinations I could make so I just got a popular recommendation from the worker, which was the Ferrero Rocher. It had a hazelnut Popsicle base, dipped in milk chocolate and topped with almonds. Needless to say, it tasted just like the Ferrero Rocher chocolate!!! I was presently surprised and I really enjoyed it. The only thing I didn’t like was that the popsicles were supposed to be gelato but it was too icy and flaky to be a gelato pop. It was still enjoyable though but I prefer getting a scoop of ice cream rather than a popsicle.

I just want more of this.
We ordered their specialty popsicles, but you can make your own. their specialty pops just looked so good we had to try them!

I’ve been wanting to come here with anticipation ever since I saw it expand from the POP bar in Anaheim to the Bay Area. The ice cream was made nicer and prettier than expected from previous reviews, and the taste was great as well. It’s a bit expensive for one pop, it’s roughly $ 3 alone for just the pop and with toppings all together makes it up to $ 5. The place is overall pretty nice, I recommend trying it out!

I first learned that they opened this place in Alameda through friends’ instagram photos. I was very excited to try this place out, since I am a big fan of dessert and sweets. I finally tried it around two months ago, and I was not disappointed.
The whole process of customizing the pops were very speedy. However, I felt like there were almost too many employees? There were three of them standing there, and there were very few customers (only my mom and me) when we visited the store. I ordered the green tea flavor with white chocolate and sprinkles, and on another occasion, green tea with white chocolate and coconut. I think that the green tea flavor wasn’t strong enough, since the toppings were very sweet and overpowered the green tea. My mom tried the coffee flavor, but she wasn’t a big fan because she said she can barely taste the coffee. I tried hers, and I could taste a very heavy coffee taste. It might be because she drinks coffee daily, and I am not a coffee drinker?
The presentation of the pops were very attractive, but it almost melts too fast. It began to melt after I finished to take the photos, and it was a pretty cool day. That made it a little messy to eat, but they do provide the small paper tray to help with the mess. Overall, I felt like this was overpriced, but this is a place that I would still occasionally visit since there is nothing like it around the area.

Well after much hesitation to try out this new spot, I am definitely a fan! Should’ve just gone with my instincts and tried this place out sooner.
Unilocalers seem to be complaining that it doesn’t compare to POPbar in LA, the gelato pops melt really fast, and it’s expensive ($ 5 and some change for unlimited dips and toppings)
My thoughts — I have never been to POPbar but this neighborhood spot is great! I don’t care how much selection a place has, are you really going to try them all? Less is more — keep it simple. I counted the choices and there were at least 20 different ones including seasonal flavors. If you’re telling me you can’t pick something you like from that many flavors, you must be a very picky eater.
In terms of the gelato pop melting, as we are nearing winter, I don’t think that will be an issue.
Finally, the price is a bit steep but so is coffee, ice cream, and other treats. It’s not everyday and it’s delicious — why not treat yourself once in awhile?
The staff were friendly and answered all my questions. I tried the FERRERO ROCHER creation and added pistachios because pistachios are awesome! I’ll definitely be back again when I need a little pick me up: D :D
Side note: They are selling selected macarons from Crème Si Bön (my current favorite macaron shop). Buy a dozen or more, they will give you a nice box. I really like the more exotic flavors and they keep pretty well in the fridge. It’s usually hard to not eat them all in one sitting though.

Everything is pretty much a replica of Popbar.
They have a lot of flavors, but not everything, not even the basics of gelato like strawberry, chocolate, etc.
I ordered a coconut gelato with white chocolate, milk chocolate, coconut flakes and almonds.
I asked the guy to add toppings/​dippings on the other side as well because he did only once side and what he did was put some on and then over layered… Like woah there. I just wanted two sides not three layers of chocolate and dippings :(. But I didn’t want to say anything, so whatever.
PLUS, he didn’t ask how I wanted the chocolate dipped and went straight into just a drizzle… And for the toppings either :(like… Ok I guess. Then I seen pictures on Unilocal and it’s like what!!! Why didn’t he ask me, man .
The gelato is not great at all… It melts, but it doesn’t melt fast enough. It basically tasted like sorbet that melts faster than usual. The inside was not milky at all, which was unpleasant because of all the ice :(
Pricing is decent. $ 3.80 for a Popsicle, $ 0.50 for unlimited dippings, $ 0.50 for unlimited toppings and $ 0.90(?) or $ 0.95(?) for both.
But props for having one in the Bay Area! :)
Probably won’t be coming back, lol.

A simple treat elevated to another level with a variety of choices: sorbet or gelato pops anyone? You make it your own by having it dipped and topped with what they have for the day. I was tempted to purchase a couple all to myself but I held off. They also sell cupcakes and are planning on adding teas and crepes to the menu. The only downside for me? A pop is going to cost you. Total for pop, dipping and topping plus tax came out to $ 5.18.
On that note, friendly service, clean looking spot and variety of options to choose from. When I’m back in the area I’ll definitely give it another go.

Choose your own Popsicle flavaflav and top it off with chocolate and nuts to make it look all instagram-​worthy and ish. It’s such an easy way to lure people in… like myself.
Made my way out here with a few of my peeps on a Thursday afternoonage. The place was pretty much empty. YAY, no line, no waiting, I want my popsicle now! Some of the flavors they had availz at the time were hazelnut, green tea, tiramisu, salted caramel, pineapple, passion fruit, and GUAVA! OMG! but I didn’t get guava. I went ahead and ordered the ferrero rocher toppings with a green tea pop. FYI if you’re indecisive about what toppings you want (I mean how can you be unsure of what nuts and chocolate you want on your bar…) they have a display of bars already topped (on the upper right side of the bar case) such as cookies N cream, ferrero, almond joy, etc. Other topping included sprinkles and coconut shavings (that I’m not a fan of.).
Total came out to $ 5.18! Holy HELLLLO kitty that was expensive. Just for a little gelato bar with chocolate and nuts. I think there was a dent in my card after I swiped, but hey! at least my stummy was happy. Of course… the phone had to eat first, took multiple shots, bit off a part of the corner. Chocolate, good. Nuts, good (giggity). Gelato bar, good. Green tea flavor was very noticable. I gave it 3.5 out of 4 noms.
Although I was satisfied with my pop bar, it was definitely not worth the price. $ 5+??! I could’ve bought popsicles, chocolate and nuts at the nearby Safeways or TrayJ’s and create 1 (more than one) myself. Drop the prices down a bit Gelati pop, and I’ll be back for more.

More like a 2.5 but I’ll round up since it could just be my taste buds. Loved the one in socal so I was excited for this place.
The verdict, flavor tastes kindof off yet still bland. Got the mango and guava. Mango straight up tasted weird to me. I didn’t like it at all. Guava’s flavor even without the extra toppings was very light in taste. Got drizzled white and strawberry chocolate. Could not taste the strawberry but that might be cos it’s just a drizzle. Compared to popbar in socal this is just lacking especially for the price it’s sold at. The two bars with some toppings cost $ 10.03. The toppings weren’t worth it and it kept falling into pieces. The one in socal sticks.
At least it’s pretty.

If you’re familiar with the «handcrafted gelato on a stick» craze known as POPBar, then you should be quite familiar with the concept of GelatiPOP since it is essentially the same: gelato or sorbet popsicles that are ready to be dipped, drizzled, and coated in toppings! It does seem comparable to its competition, but I’m not a popsicle connoisseur so there’s that, but I must say that my sister & I did enjoy our pops. Even though it was a rather cool and chilly evening, we both found our pops to be refreshing and delicious. So I can only imagine the extra oomph of yum a GeltiPOP would be in the heat, especially considering this heatwave rolling through right now! Anywhoooo, regardless of the weather…
The first thing you should be aware of is: PRICE. If you want unlimited dips and drizzles that’s an extra 95 cents, in addition to the $ 3.90 or so you’re spending on the popsicle itself. It does lean on the pricier side as popsicles are concerned (~$ 5 without discounts or coupons). So if you’re not down for the customizable pop cause and aren’t willing to pay that much, this isn’t the best place for you because otherwise you’re going to end up upset because you already were going in with the idea of «Oh my, what am I paying for?»
SEATING/​ABMIANCE: This popsicle shop isn’t a huge place, it’s quaint and there’s one table inside the actual store that’s to the right of the dispay case/​register. I think the layout of the store really serves the stores’ overall purpose and there’s enough color and vibrance (especially coming from the display case) to keep the ambiance as light fun and bright & keep the highlight of the room be the popsicles they sell! Definitely more of a grab your pop and go kind of place, but there are some seats outside! & If those are full and you really want to sit, enjoy your pops, soak up the sun or just want to chat while enjoying your pops there are benches and seats throughout the shopping plaza :)
THE POPSICLES: My sister ordered the green tea and I got the salted caramel. We were able to choose our drizzles and toppings and what I thought was pretty cool was you can tell them how you wanted it dipped/​drizzled. Example? Well, I wanted mine half-​dipped and my sister wanted hers at an angle and the staff didn’t seem to mind! :) So, this is nice to note if you’re all about that aesthetic and want to keep your photo/​IG game strong. Hahaha.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: My sister and I had no problems with service. The employees answered any questions we had with a smile on their faces and weren’t annoyed or irritated that we were taking our time trying to choose our pops! Instead they even helped us make our decisions by telling us what their personal favorite flavors were and helped us try to decipher what would be best for our moods!
PARKING: Shouldn’t be a problem! It’s located in a fairly large shopping plaza, so no matter where you do find parking — you can definitely walk to grab your «pop of happiness!»
LOCATION: It’s in the South Shore Shopping Center! Since I’ve been here, I’ve definitely seen more foot traffic and I think it’s super convenient for those who are shopping or dining in the center and want something sweet and quick! :)
OVERALL? I don’t see myself being a regular visitor of GelatiPOP, but an occasional craving will undoubtedly bring me back. The positive vibes and refreshingly delicious flavors are enough to keep me coming back when I do have the craving for one of their gelato or sorbet pops!

Gelatipop has the same concept as PopBar in SoCal and it tastes just as good! You choose from a selection of sorbets and gelatos and then customize it with different dippings and toppings.
My cousins and I were all silent while eating our popsicles because they were so good. I got the Tiramisu with half milk chocolate, half white chocolate and almonds. I’m happy that the server was generous with the toppings. As a messy eater, I love how they serve the popsicles on a little tray that can catch any drips or falling toppings. It saves me from using so many napkins to clean after myself!

Overpriced + underwhelming gelato pops = very unimpressed
A gelato pop alone is $ 3.95. Most people will want at least one dip or topping, so unlimited toppings/​dippings are $.95. These gelato pops definitely aren’t worth $ 4.90. Four gelato pops came out to $ 20.71. Ridiculously overpriced for what you’re getting.
I came here looking to create the green tea kit kat popgelato that I always get from Popbar in Anaheim. I was so disappointed that they didn’t have green tea gelato. It wasn’t busy and it was so early in the afternoon to have run out. Their topping selection is limited so I settled for almond pistachio, half dipped with milk chocolate and drizzled with white chocolate and pistachios. The taste of the pistachio and almond in the gelato bar could have been a lot more distinct. I like that they give you a tray fit to the gelato pop, but it still turned into a quick melted mess upon leaving. I just wasn’t impressed.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to give Gelatipop another try, but would try to recreate my green tea kit kat if I happened to be in the area. You can’t help but compare Gelatipop to PopBar. I really wanted to like Gelatipop, but Gelatipop definitely falls short in comparison to PopBar.

I love the concept. I just don’t like the process.
After hearing about this ice cream joint for days, I finally got to come and try it. My experience was ok. I love the concept of gelato on popsicle sticks having sauce & toppings on it. I don’t like the process of the pop being made because this sloppy formation can cause major delays for the future.
Luckily it was just me and my sister inside shop but times where the line may be long, the making of the customized pops can be trouble especially with one person doing all the dipping, etc.
I think the toppings bar should be separate or longer so that two people can work at the same time. The toppings should be labeled as well; none of them were. They should probably add some more toppings to choose from as well.
The «unlimited dipping/​toppings» needs to go away. I think this is pointless really. A pop can only hold so much and for .50 this is way over priced. The pops are a bit too expensive too at $ 3.80 with dipping that will total it to about $ 5. This is insane. The flavors of the sorbet pops and gelato pops are great and the portion an quality is pretty good; the texture is thick so it doesn’t melt away fast for both the sorbet and gelato pops.
The employees need to pick it up with memorization as well because my pops took about 5 mins to make at about $ 10. That’s not good.
The menu can be bigger and more precise as well. The pre-​mad pops should be put on the menu so people can decide faster. I didn’t like how the pre-​made pops were hidden in the corner of the pop rack; not appealing.
Overall, I enjoyed my Ferrero Rocher pop! It tasted smack down like one! I thought the cookie crumble was a bit too sweet and off balance but it was still pretty good tasting. My main concerns is the process from A-​B & pricing. I probably will come back but it needs to improve asap.

I am lactose intolerant but do I ever care? I love food with dairy in it. Whether it be cheeseburgers, pizza, ice cream, milk tea, frozen yogurt, you name it. I can not get away from dairy no matter the consequence.
Made the drive here with my friend on a Friday evening. We were greeted and welcomed as we entered the shop. It is quite small, just two small tables inside and a few right outside.
Basically you get to choose either from a gelato bar or a sorbet bar. Gotta have my dairy intake so chose the pistachio flavor (the last one!) with white chocolate drizzle and almonds. The girls who made my order and rung me up were quite friendly.
The verdict? Nothing spectacular. Yes, it was good (heard it was comparable to SoCal’s PopBar?), but it is nothing extremely difficult to make I would imagine or am I being too overly confident lol? Maybe the quality of gelato and sorbet is what makes it so tasty. Nevertheless, I will come back and try other flavors.

Nothing too special, in my opinion, unless Popsicles are your thing. I figured I’d give it a try since there were teens handing out coupons in the shopping center for 50 cents off any Popsicle.
I didn’t want anything with dairy so my options came down to the fruit, as much as I wanted the green tea. Opted for blueberry but did not want white chocolate as a drizzle/​dip, but the chocolates are your only option, otherwise any additional toppings won’t really adhere. There should be fruit glaze options for those who don’t want chocolate. Toppings are also limited, which is fine if you just want crushed nuts or sprinkles.
At nearly $ 5.00 for a Popsicle, I didn’t find anything great about it. If it’s really hot outside, maybe, but I’m definitely more interested in ice cream. It’s also a new place (across from Modern Mouse) so staff is still being trained, learning the register and what not.

its nice to finally have something similar to the pop bar in Sol Cal here in the bay area. I havent been to the pop bar but Gelatipop will do it for me. Located where fruits and chocolate used to be. Gelatipop give you around 13 different Popsicle, 7 toppings, and 4 melted chocolates to choose from to create your perfect gelatipop. So we tried the mango, pistachio, and strawberry pop. All 3 are very good.
Just before we left I asked if they had stamp cards. They said no. Instead they have and app called «Perka» For those of you that don’t have it yet. I’d suggest you download it and create an account so you can save your points. I shall return for more.
They also have macarons and cupcakes.

This is a complete copy of Pop Bar in SoCal, however, I’ve never been to the one in SoCal so I don’t have much to compare it to.
I got a green tea gelati bar dipped in dark chocolate, drizzled with white chocolate and pistachios. The popsicle barely tasted like green tea, all I could taste was the chocolate it was covered in. The chocolate doesn’t even stick to the popsicle, it comes off after a few bites. Also, the popsicle melts really fast. It wasn’t even hot the day I got it. After you tell them which flavor popsicle you want they take it out and it just sits there until it’s your turn to choose the toppings (there’s a lot of people since this place is new). No wonder they put your popsicle on a mini tray, it melts so fast and the chocolate comes right off.
I mean the popsicle isn’t completely horrible, but for about $ 5 each I wouldn’t come back here again.

It was a cute place with a cute concept but I don’t think this will be my new go to place. A gelato popsicle alone is ~$ 4 and dipping is $ 0.50 or both dipping and topping for $ 1. It ends up being more than $ 5 for a popsicle and I would rather go to Tuckers and get a scoop of ice cream or go to Safeway and get a pint of talenti instead.
The flavor selection for the popsicles was pretty good but the selection for dipping/​topping was mediocre.
Overall, a cute place to go on a date but not a place I would frequently come back.

I don’t think anything will ever be able to replace the void in my heart and this location which was originally juice plus. This place, however, is doing a better job than the former fruits and chocolate though.
This place is very comparable to the Pop bar at the Anaheim Packing House in SoCal. I estimate a few more places like this have been/​will be opening soon. It’s a great concept, customize your own sorbet/​gelato bar. Really reminiscent of the chocolate syrup from my childhood that froze on contact when it hit ice cream. You can add nuts and the like but the options are pretty limited. And with that said, I paid $ 6 for a Popsicle and I wasn’t too pleased with that fact. I mean yeah, frozen chocolate, nuts, and green tea gelato, but *shrug* ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I just feel like I should have been more excited but the best thing you can get out of me that it was good, but not great.
After eating here, I feel like this place is just going to become a landmark that most of my followers on Instagram will want to go. It’s «different» but at the same time everyone wants to take the same picture.
