I will never give this place business again. I happen to be shopping in this area, so I thought why not just wash my clothes here…
Boy oh boy, I should’ve just went elsewhere. One of the customer had an issue with the card, the machine took the money, but the washer did not work. So he asked for a refund, for the card and the amount he loaded, $ 13.50. The person wasn’t the owner, I think she was just watching the place until the owner came back.
When the owner came back, and the other lady explained what happened, they argued and the owner kept slapping the card against the counter. She was yelling and swearing in Vietnamese. And it startled me, she slammed the drying machine’s door too!
I just don’t think it something worth fighting in front of many customers who are washing their clothes. Bad business.

Not the cleanest (I can’t elaborate) or the friendliest but convenient and gets the job done. Get there early on the weekend or good luck finding a dryer. You can pay them to do your laundry, but I’ve never used that service so I can’t comment on it.

The man is extremely rude, do not waste your money here! If a business expects customers, they should treat them kindness

I’m never coming back here. The only reason I did my laundry here was that our apartment washers and dryers broke and it is the nearest laundry shop. Their smallest washer costs $ 3 which runs for only 20 mins. Clothes out of the washer were so wet. I felt that it was a rip off since I usually spend less than $ 20 for a week’s worth of laundry, but in this place I spent more than $ 50 for a week and a half worth of laundry.

Upside: Lots of parking, generally clean, near a store to grab snacks, there’s a very nice attendant dude, has wifi, and a bathroom. Downside: randomly some washers work with quarters and some you need a card thingy. It’s weird and confusing. Also, not a ton of folding space. I’d go back again though. Just because it’s clean and not too pricey.

I have been going to this laundromat for 20 years. Today I went with two average size lightweight loads and it took over an hour for them to dry. They do not clean the lint filters which causes the dryers you pay quarters for to not dry as well. I have experienced this on a smaller scale in the past, but today, it was out and out robbery. It shouldn’t take $ 20.00 to do two loads of clothes. I will never go there again. If you are smart neither will you.

The Indian guy at this place is a total asshole. He talks down to you when you ask him a question and cut the power and turned off the lights to force the customers out at closing time. I still had a couple of minutes on a couple of dryers.
Their washing machines are 25 cents more expensive than the laundromat on Park St. The dryers are 25 cents for 5 minutes compared to 6 at Park St. I won’t be going back. Park street is way better with free WiFi, cheaper machines and better service.

Most inconvenient laundromat in Alameda. Some machines take quarters but the others use a laundromat card, which I was unable to buy. Instead the laundromat attendant had to get up, put his card in to each machine I wanted to use, then I had to pay HIM. Luckily I was able to pay him with some of the MANY quarters that I had left over from the washing machine debocle. Two stars for machine availabilty… I guess I now know why this place is so unpopular. Managers, get an easy to use system and your business will double!

Zero stars. Just went here for the first time this evening, and I wish I read the reviews first. I got there around 8:15pm and some older guy started literally yelling from across the building as I was loading my clothes.
He was so angry and unintelligible that I wasn’t even sure he was yelling at me at first, until he finally said the last load was at 8pm.
His attitude was so unpleasant that I will never be returning again.

2 stars because the old Filipino guy that works here uses the laundry cart to take out the trash ALL THE TIME! Disgusting. I think they should replace all their carts or get shut down. He’s also lazy, moves extremely slow, and is always so rude to everyone. He never washes his hands after handling trash so people who uses the wash and fold service instead of doing their own laundry… beware.
There’s a Vietnamese couple that work here as well, they’re nice, efficient and friendly.
The place is better kept than other places on the island. But the Carts need to be disinfected or replaced and maybe the Filipino worker too.

CHEAP SHIT ALERT. These guys have raised their prices; packed the place with washing machines & dryers that only take quarters, not the debit card (thus permitting them to screw poor people much more than they could before); and dropped all of their extra services, such as «shop and drop,» which permitted you to start your wash and leave money with the attendant and they would put your clothes in the dryer for free. THEY ALSO ADVERTISE «FREE WI-​FI,» BUT IT DOESN’T WORK.
Don’t get me wrong: it is still a decent laundromat. But the things that made it so special before have now evaporated. You can find one just like it on every street corner in this town. AND THAT IS KINDA SAD…

This place deserves zero stars
I came here for the first time & after loading up the washer with my clothes & soap I found out the machine only accepts the stores card which you had to purchase & deposit money. I was not gonna pay for a card because this isn’t my regular washer & I did not plan on returning so I asked another customer if I can borrow and load their card.
Their dryers charge a quarter for 5 minutes! I usually go to wash board on park St & San Jose and a quarter there is 6 minutes. I think they close at 9 which is super early for a laundromat.
I was folding my clothes & i didn’t know they closed that early and some of my clothes were still in the dryer. Once it hit 9 the bitch ass Indian worker or owner turned off the lights on me & told me they were closed. This ass hole really couldn’t even give me a heads up or wait for me to finish putting my clothes away. My laundry in the dryer still was not completely dry & only needed about 5 – 10 more minutes but he wouldn’t let me so I had to take wet clothes home. While I was packing my clothes in the dark he went to the bathroom and took a piss with the door open. WHAT THE FUCK YOU DISGUSTING SON OF A BITCH.
I AM NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS SHIT HOLE .
DO NOT BRING YOUR LAUNDRY HERE. GO TO WASHBOARD ON PARK ST. ITS CHEAPER AND HAS MORE MACHINES AND YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR A RETARDED CAARD.
I went straight to washboard to finish folding & drying my clothes. They close at 11 & the staff there are so nice.

LaunderLand South Shore has the newest machines of anywhere on the island that I’ve seen, easy parking, accessibility to other stores (I seem to be at South Shore every day anyway) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE that they have machines that take a wash card instead of quarters. It’s always been clean when I’ve been there, and they have two lovely, huge folding tables, plenty of carts even for busy days, a sink and a perfectly fine restroom. The attendant knows her stuff, though she’s a little hard to communicate with sometimes — but a nice lady who always greets me with a smile.
The only thing that would improve this laundromat is if a) you could load money onto your wash card with your credit card instead of cash, and b) if the machines could take both quarters AND a card. I’d like to use nothing but the card, but some machines only take quarters. Other than that, I love this place!

Great machines. Good prices. Plenty of parking.
Dirty floors and folding tables.
The allowance of Pan Handling inside by vagrants is not cool. Of course I have change. It’s a Laundromat. Management sees it and does nothing for an hour. While he asks everyone for money. Only reason he was finally asked to leave was because he asked the manager for change.

I was impressed with this place because:
— Parking was easy
— Smelled like clean laundry as soon as I walked in
— It’s clean
— Their change machine was easy to use and seemed up to date
— Big legible signage
— They have wi-​fi
It’s also conveniently located in a plaza with trader joes, safeway, major banks, walgreens, bed bath & beyond and more… So if you have someone with you, tell em you’ll be back after you run some errands in the plaza!

Convenience to other stores at South Shore in Alameda does not outweigh the disadvantages associated with using this laundromat. Buyer beware!
A couple of the staff people are nice, helpful and friendly. But one other man in particular is rude and not helpful and provides incorrect information to customers with questions. When asked by customers how long they should dry a particular load, he said 50 minutes. In both cases the machine would have dried the load in question in about 30 minutes, as it done that with similar loads of mine.
Leah B’s descriptions elsewhere on this site are accurate – nothing is consistent from machine to machine in this laundromat, and if you don’t know that (which you should not need to) you’ll get ripped off.
First, the amount of time you get for your money in a washer varies from washer to washer and from day to day. Prior to May 8^th, 2013, you got a 30 or 31 minute wash for $ 1.76. Now with their changes to the technology, its 19 – 20 minutes for $ 2.00, again with no consistency from machine to machine or day to day. The driers requiring payment with Launderland’s proprietary money cards will not register the time you’re buying unless you repeatedly push the ‘start” button until the display reads out the correct amount of time you’ve purchased. For example, pulling and reinserting the card should give you additional time in 10-​minute increments. But it doesn’t. Instead of registering 10 additional minutes, it registers only 3 more, or 5 more, or 8 more. So if your’e not paying attention, you’ll walk away ripped off and unaware.
I’d recommend not ever going to this facility.

Nice DIY laundry (but no Wifi). Do yourself a favor, though, and NEVER try do use one of the various «wash and fold» services they offer. The two employee’s grasp of spoken English and basic math skills will suddenly and mysteriously degrade and the prices on the board will suddenly change. Total ripoffs, don’t bother. There must be a better option in the Island somewhere.

Always great service and timely dry cleaning … Gotta love the convenience of this place being located between Safeway and Trader Joes !

I’m always in and out of here quickly because they don’t hassle me at all, even if i rudely take up 7 washers or dryers at a time.
I keep coming back because of the convenient pre-​paid card (boo, pockets full of change!) and because there’s always ample parking.

I started going to Launderland a few months back. It’s convenience to Trader Joes, BofA, and Safeway made it a perfect place to do my laundry. What soured me to the place was a number of things that I think are important when choosing a laundromat.
I know electricity and water can be expensive. However, when the dryers are blatantly inconsistent in drying clothing, I have to start questioning the ethics of charging .50 cents per 10 minute drying time.
The final straw and when I finally stood up and said «this isn’t right» was a last weekend.
What is wrong with this picture: One dryer with a mix of dark blues that include a couple pair of jeans filled to the brim, to capacity, dries in 40 minutes on permanent press.
Another dryer, filled ¼ of the way, reds no jeans, 40 minutes permanent press.
The blues are completely dry, the reds are stil wet.
another 3 dryers the same thing, except one of the loads consisted of 5 pairs of jeans. They all were maybe ½ full.
If the blue load didn’t dry completely I would have said fine, I have to dry more. However, when its as blatant as that, I had to finally say something.
I asked the clerk, an asian gentleman I’ve had many conversations with in the past, to empty out the lint for the dryers as they don’t seem to dry well.
He ignored me. Yes, ignored me. Pretended to not hear me even after I asked him two more times.
I persisted. enough is enough. I tried to explain that his dryers were not drying consistently and there might be something wrong with them.
He asked how I dried them finally. I told him permanent press at 40 minutes. He said that won’t dry your clothes. He said 30 minutes (yes 30 min, he fixated on that time for some reason) won’t dry your clothes you have to dry at high. I asked him why permanent press won’t dry my clothes when it is obvious it does when I had a full load and it dried.
He then proceeded to ignore me further.
I wouldn’t let up. I kept asking the same question why his dryers won’t dry at permanent press? Does that mean they’re broken and they’re taking money when they shouldn’t? He began to get angry with me and asked me if I wanted to be reimbursed for the clothes that didn’t dry.
I told him it would be a solution but the real solution would be to figure out why his dryers are not drying at permanent press and why they are being allowed to accept money to dry at permanent press if they are broken.
He then started to ignore me further.
I moved my clothes to other dryers that I knew would dry. Essentially by that time, I had wasted 6.00 on drying.
When he went back to his office area, I walked up and told him I’d like to accept his offer for reimbursement. He tried to ignore me and say the same thing that permanent press won’t dry my clothes, which I responded, yes it does because it dried my full load earlier.
He took out 2 dollars from his cash register and told me never to come back again. Of course, I said gladly but also said that the lack of customer service would prevent me from coming there again anyway. And the fact I spent 40+ dollars trying to wash/​dry my clothes there. That is ridiculous. That’s 8.00 a load.
He is also consistently rude. My time there, I saw him ignore many people who were trying to ask him for help. He would consistently be upset if someone said the machine wasn’t working. He has told other people not to come back if they challenged him, asked for they’re money back if a dryer didn’t dry their clothes. Yes, i knew what I was in for but enough was enough. I’m not rich.
If someone asked for help, he would look up see them there, not respond. I know he can hear well. I was going there for many months. He would rarely acknowledge a thank you or a hello.
I hope this helps someone out there. Greedy, unethical people need to be called out. From my experience, the laundromat over charges and machines are rigged so clothes don’t dry.
It doesn’t make much sense why someone wouldn’t step up on their customer service given the economy. There are other laundromats in Alameda. Of which I will now be a patron.
