Description

Specialties

Revival is a photography studio specializing in creating Tintype Portraits. Photographs are made using a 150 year-old process for a unique, handcrafted experience.

History

Established in 2014.

Started in June 2014, Revival Tintype Studio is run by Owner and Photographer Patrick Demmons. Using the same techniques as the photographic pioneers of the 1860’s, Revival creates one of a kind images on metal or glass. Properly cared for, wet-plate collodion photographs can last well over 100 years, and can become treasured family heirlooms.

Meet the Business Owner

Patrick D.

Business Owner

Patrick Demmons is the owner/photographer behind Revival Tintype Studio. His interest and passion for photography began at a very young age, when his godmother gave him a Pentax Spotmatic which she had used during her time in the Peace Corps. After furthering his photographic education at San Joaquin Delta College, Rochester Institute of Technology and San Francisco State University, Patrick put his cameras down and joined the US Army in 2004.

In 2012 he returned to Oakland with his wife Alessandra, bought a house and season tickets to the Oakland A’s, and rekindled his love for taking pictures. Frustrated with the disposable and intangible nature of digital photography, Patrick started looking backwards, and fell in love with historical processes, including Wet-plate Collodion, or Tintype photography.
