History

Established in 1981.

Salon 1500 was originally The Parlor, established over 30 years ago. As of 2008, Salon 1500 is under new ownership and has undergone a great deal of transformative renovations. The new name, Salon 1500, now matches the unique, modern atmosphere that the space provides. We have made a commitment to providing the best quality hair, nail and skin services available to the Alameda area. Our staff will work hard to make sure you leave feeling happy with your experience and confident with your new look.

Vince took over Salon 1500 in 2008, changing the name and the atmosphere completely. He takes pride in the quality of work provided by the talented staff at the salon, and goes out of his way to make sure every client is happy. Vince is excited by the enthusiastic response Salon 1500 has received from the community over the past five years, and looks forward to welcoming back regulars and meeting new faces for years to come.

I received a wonderful haircut from Tinneke! I appreciated that at this salon I could make my reservation online. When I arrived, Tinneke did a great job assessing what my wants were, it really put me at ease. Her style of cutting is very methodical, which I really appreciated. I’ve received so many compliments on my haircut and I’ll definitely be coming back!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend Rachelle for either the weave or the cut. I explained to her that I wanted a bright blonde weave but received 90 percent brown. The day after my appointment I went in to show her the disaster and she replied that on my next appointment she would give me a discount — there was no offer to fix my hair. After spending $ 180, I felt that more should have been done to correct this horrible mistake. Additionally, the cut was short on top but left long and thick on the bottom — uneven — could not make it flow. So terribly disappointed.

They overbooked my appointment and the stylist (CINDY) basically said, «Hey, can you totally adjust YOUR schedule around mine?» I’m sorry, but that’s not how you treat a customer. Their scheduling is a complete mess — very disappointing. Now, I’m looking for a salon that can handle an appointment for my daughter and me.

I got my hair done by Miss Tinneke a few weeks ago & I’ve been meaning to write a review on how much I appreciate what a GREAT job she did! My hair was a mousey, boring mop before she did her thing! The cut is EXACTLY what I hoped for & even better than the picture i’d brought. The coloring is also super dreamy & better than I thought possible :) All around it was a great experience & Tinneke is super friendly, knowledgable & lovely to be around. I highly recommend making an appointment with her if your hair needs some TLC :)

Tennekke is the best. She is friendly and has great hair suggestions. She walks you through the process on styling which is great if you aren’t used to styling. She suggested a new haircut for me and I love it.

I just go my hair cut today by Jeramie. I love it so much! He is amazing!
I have supper curly ethnicity mixed hair, so I am always terrified to get it cut. Especially when I get it cut by a new person. I instantly felt comfortable with Jeramie when I meet him. He did an amazing job on my hair. I ended up getting over 10″ cut off, and it looked beautiful.
If your looking for an amazing haircut I highly recommend you call Jeramie.

I had a rather huge, fairly unmanageable mane of hair. I hadn’t had a cut in at least a year, possibly more, and it was definitely time for a change. On Friday afternoon I made an early morning appointment on a Saturday, so already 5 stars for availability and flexibility. Tinneke had an amazing energy that just made me feel so comfortable, and she was very excited to have pretty much free reign of my hair. I just said «go short,» and she came up with a great style that fits my hair type, personality, and lifestyle. She had some awesome ideas for color too, but that will have to wait until next time, and I can’t wait! Oh, and she was totally happy to make a few tweaks to the style after it was done. It is the best cut I’ve ever had. I have literally had dozens of people compliment me in the six days I’ve had the cut, including a random stranger who ran me down the aisle at Safeway to tell me how cute it was. I highly recommend Salon 1500, and I absolutely recommend Tinneke for any cut, style, or color– she’s amazing!!!

I had my first cut and color from Tinneke yesterday and well, I look awesome! I love the icy blonde (I have nearly black hair under the grey) and she made it cute and spunky.
The whole experience was lovely, she’s fast and sure of herself. Pleasant conversation, overall highly recommend!

Review for Jeramie.
Jeramie was awesome and was very kind and knowledgable. We met for a consultation to talk about what I wanted to do with my hair. He helped me decide on what color seemed best for my hair and we went with a deep purple! It was a longer process than expected, but it was definitely worth it. The color turned out great! He was able to answer all the questions I had about how to maintain my hair.

Salon 1500 is great. It’s bright and clean with super comfy chairs — both the stylist’s station and the wash station — an important fact when the work that you’ve requested takes s few hours. Everyone was friendly. I also love that I can book online. Street parking was really easy.
Cindy is totally delightful and talented. She had great suggestions for my colors. She paid a lot of attention to detail and took her time getting things right. She’s very friendly and took the time to do a blowout after my color was complete. I’ve posted a couple of photos of her excellent work. I highly recommend Cindy Le and Salon 1500!

Having moved to Alameda a couple years ago I have been very hesitate to get my hair cut. I usually wait until I travel back to my normal stylist for any major transformations. I had been contemplating just trying a salon in the area.
Taking the leap! I scheduled an appointment for Saturday night, so I was worried that I was going to be a pain. Rachelle did my cut and color. She was wonderful, one of the nicest people I have met on the island in my time here. Not only did she do a fantastic job but she was so pleasant to talk to throughout the evening. (I’m usually one of those people that avoids chatting at all costs) I will definitely be returning to get my hair cut on a regular basis now though! I can not thank Rachelle enough for the wonders she did on my hair!

Raised in Alameda and lived here my whole life and why have I just now discovered how welcoming and amazing Salon 1500 is!!! Around midnight last night I decided to book an appointment out of the blue not knowing anything about this salon or any of the stylists. I knew that the only way to discover the perfect place is to just take chances and experiment so I decided to just go ahead and book! I chose Rachelle Felix and let me tell you, SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT ONE BIT!!! She is such a sweetheart and knowledgeable about everything she is doing — ask her anything you’re concerned or curious about and she knows exactly what to do to make your experience wonderful! I really appreciate how patient she is while working on your hair as well. She did such an amazing job y’all!

I was looking for a great stylist to do my balayage and color. I have read all of the reviews of the salons nearby in Alameda and despite some of the reviews Tinneke had, I still wanted to go because I loved the color of her client photos regardless. I’m VERY glad I gave her the benefit of the doubt because Tinneke is absolutely amazing with color. AND my appointment was hella late btw cause I came from the city AND she kept working on me despite the salon closing.
Tinneke is really cool and so friendly. She was very intricate and detailed with the dye process and even though it was getting really late, she still kept to every detail of the coloring process! Keep in mind, I have very dark hair and never have tried blonde before!!! It can be a nerve wrecking time! But Tinneke knew how to lighten and then balance the colors out nicely. Most stylists that I have been to will be tapped out for sure by second hour and especially 9 pm. She even showed me after how to curl my hair!
Ladies, she really is talented, so don’t let the bad reviews on here sway you. I had so many, many compliments on my new hair.

I have been looking for a reliable hairstylist for quite some time now. I went and saw Rachelle, who recently just started there last week.
It’s hard to find someone to thin my hair enough and cut it correctly because it is so thick. Rachelle did everything I asked and more.

Finding a stylist that is amazing AND local is hard to come across. I went in and had Jessica Cowart for my appointment and I wanted to shave half my head {previously had about a fourth of the side of my head shaved} and was hesitant to continue doing this since my hair grows SO. FAST. But I wasn’t ready to go back to «boring», so I told her I wanted to continue this but go bigger! Boy am I glad I did!
Jessica is so talented and knowledgeable on hair, especially fine hair like my own. She gave me tips to give my hair more volume and over all gave me such a boost in confidence. I can finally say I found my salon and stylist! Thanks Jess!

Jeramie is a miracle worker.
After months of procrastnation I finally made it to Salon 1500 last night. Jeramie was amazing! He was knowledgeable and made me feel 100% comfortable. We began by talking about the damage I’ve done to my hair in the past; years of box color. So we decided to start with a clean palette, we stripped all the old color out, he then did two color processes and a cut and it looks amazing, I feel like a new person! I love it, thank you Jeramie.

Recently I got a cut and brazilian blow out from Tinneke and I was extremely happy with the results so much that I need to keep coming back for this as much as possible. LOVE IT!
I can say that I have had many people do my hair who claim to know what they are doing but Tinneke always seems to give me exactly what I want. She is extremely experienced, professional, friendly, and she listens to what I want. She doesn’t just do whatever she feels she thinks is best for you like some stylist. I highly recommend her !!!
