The Cupcake Shoppe

Last Saturday while walking down Park Street from Santa Clara Avenue to my destination, Southshore Shopping Center, I stopped and noticed the sign for this business was no longer there. I entered in search of the kiosk and it wasn’t there. I had a craving for a cupcake, but they were nowhere in sight. I found out from another business that the Cupcake Shoppe has left the building and went on home to Hayward. I guess it was okay while they lasted here in Alameda.

This is the second time I have gone there and it is delicious! Located out of Hayward they have a small hidden kiosk. If it wasn’t for the sign. would never know it was there. The size of the cupcake fits the price. They also have oops cuppies for 2.00. We paid 16.25 for 6 cuppies.
The ones I have tried thus far: thin mint, french toast with candied bacon, honey lavender, red velvet, neapolitan, plain vanilla, caramel apple and the fudge sundae one.
They have a rotating list of cupcake flavors that is super extensive.
BRING CASH!
Although they have an Ipad for credit cards the wifi is spotty. If they can’t get a signal then they call in the CC purchase to their main location. if you aren’t comfortable with your personal information on the phone… cough up the green.

I got a groupon for this place because I heard they opened the Alameda one closer to my house. It may be my favorite cupcake place in the east bay! I got 4 dozen minis for a party as well as a dozen regular tiramasu. The cake was great texture, moist yet fluffy and the frosting was much better than most of the places I’ve been to in the east bay. The only criticism is the minis were a bit messily decorated for a professional shop. I realize they probably made hundreds fulfilling the groupons and I’m much more concerned with taste! Reasonable pricing for bulk orders too!
Will definitely return!

My fiancé and I randomly came across this place when we went to Yume for dinner the other night but had to wait at least another hour before they would seat us… so we decided to walk around the main street and see what else there is to check out.
We weren’t going to go inside initially when we saw their sign on the street but a random exchange of a few words with a guy outside made us go in and I’m kind of glad we did! They had a very small display case with only a few flavors remaining for the night — I was REALLY bummed that they didn’t have red velvet available (that might have been the key to bumping my rating for this place!)…but they were having a special of buy 4 get 2 free (probably to get rid of what’s left-​over for the night) — so I guess we just had to get a half-​dozen!
We ended up getting PB&J, Cup of Joe, Fudgeana, Butter Pecan, French Toast + Bacon, and Banana Split. I was also bummed that they didn’t take credit card that night because their Internet was down… good thing we had enough cash on hand!
The cupcakes were still delicious the next day — I really liked that none of the cupcakes were overwhelmingly sweet like some of the other places I’ve tried. But at the same time, I felt that they lacked a certain kind of flavor… but I’m interested in trying the actual store in Hayward if we ever make it up there again!

Delicious cupcakes! I bought a red velvet one for my hubby for his birthday. It was so rich and satisfying that he couldn’t even eat the whole thing all at once! This little booth is kind of tucked away just off Park St., but it’s a great find when you’re looking for a special treat!

The Cupcake Shoppe isn’t a storefront, it’s a cart in the hallway next to the «pillow .» store. obviously, the cupcakes aren’t made here. they’re made in hayward at the main store.

–lots of cream, sweet but didn’t care for it.

Grand opening today! Fun flavors like snickers, triple threat which has chocolate, white, and red velvet cake, as well as a french toast and bacon (which was the winner in an SF cupcake challenge. I tried the french toast one and the cake is dense, a little more like a muffin consistency. There is a generous amount of bacon crumble on top, which is nice and crispy, and a drizzle of maple syrup. The red velvet cupcake and the chocolate cupcake both have a softer, lighter cake consistency. The frostings have a good flavor but are on the sweeter side.
Same shop as the one in Hayward but this one is a little kiosk. They can do custom orders but don’t deliver and you have to pick it up in person.
