We specialize in a family practice seeing a variety of patients including but not limited to womens health, pain management, internal medicine, and preventative wellness! Jamie has a passion for womens health and works closely with many gynecological conditions such as infertility, pregnancy, post partum, and menopausal women! Currently, Jamie Tokubo is the only acupuncturist in Alameda assisting women with inducing childbirth! Jamie is in her doctoral program at ACTCM an accredited college for extra training in womens health focused on infertility as well as pain management. Jamie has a strong background in physical therapy and works also with athletes. Over at Tokubo Acupuncture we accept all health insurances and are available for free consultations! Established in 2005.

This business was initially established down in La Jolla, CA in 2005. Tokubo Acupuncture relocated up to the bay area’s hidden treasure, Alameda in 2007.

Business Owner

Jamie Lee Tokubo has over a decade of professional experience in the healing arts. She obtained her diplomat of Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission as well as her California Board Certification to practice acupuncture and herbal medicine.

Jamie went on and received advanced training abroad in both Japan and China. In Japan, she studied under her master teacher Ikeda Masakazu. Just a year prior, she studied at Chengdu Traditional Medical Hospital in Chengdu, China. She completed rounds in many departments including: Gynecology, Oncology, Dermatology, Diabetes, Acupuncture, and Tui na (traditional Chinese massage).

Jamie specializes in treatment of women’s health and infertility, orthopedic injuries and pain management. Jamie commonly treats digestive complaints, neurological problems, emotional stressors, hormonal imbalances, facial rejuvenation, weight loss, and addictions.

Jamie is amazing! I have been treated by her for hormone balancing and my hot flashes are nearly gone! She has helped relieve pain in my knee and sciatica, too. Her knowledge and expertise is the best I’ve ever seen. Besides that, she’s a gracious and kind person who truly cares about your well being. I recommend her with 6 stars of I could!

I did one acupuncture session with Jamie during my 40th week of pregnancy and I am very happy to share that I was able to have a successful VBAC only a few days after my visit. I saw her on a Wednesday and my labor started the following Saturday. I tried a few different things to kick start my labor, and it might have been a combination of efforts, but labor progressed very quickly! I have to say I was slightly skeptical at first, but given my great results I would definitely visit Jamie again, and sooner than the 40th week of pregnancy. She was warm and attentive. I definitely recommend her.

Jamie is a whiz! She uses tiny, Japanese acupuncture needles which hurt less and seem more effective than their Chinese counterparts. She sources great herbs and other remedies and really knows them. She helped me through mono!

For kid #2, I went to Jamie to get my body ready for a VBAC. She did about 10 treatments and it really worked. 4 hours of active labor, 15 minutes of pushing and BAM! Baby. The nurses were pretty impressed and I was so so so glad to not have had a repeat c-​section. The lesson here is to A) give a VBAC a try if you’re a good candidate and B) go to Jamie first so that baby just flies right out of there.

I first started seeing Jamie to help with my neck and back injury from a car accident. Little did I know how much she could assist me in bring my body back to complete health. Not only did she help with my accident which was a more complete healing then previous accidents that I used chiropractic for. She has continued to help with women’s issues and brought my pain with Fibromyalgia to nothing.
If you are familiar with Fibromyalgia pain is always at the surface. With Jamie’s technique I able to get almost completely painless treatments. No one else has been able to do this.
Lastly Jamie spends the time you wish every doctor did and will get your lasting results.

The other Unilocalers are right! After six months of increasing and constant pain with my shoulder and arm — physical therapy, chiropractic therapy, cortisone shot all did nothing. In ONE visit the pain lessened CONSIDERABLY and the mobility increased perhaps 40%. It has continued to increase the mobility and the pain has decreased — after a second treatment even better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Jamie — highly professional, skilled, and knowledgeable.

Acupuncture always scared me… the idea of having needles in me… all of this changed since I went to see Jamie.
I was having some issues with my triceps for years and I couldn’t play water polo anymore until I added some acupuncture to my treatment. Jamie was able to pick up very quickly where the problem was and after a few sessions (once a week) I was back in the pool and feeling well. Few more sessions later I was on top of it.
I was also having some more issues and Jamie discovered them without me telling her. She asked me a few questions to confirm, added a few needles and I was feeling better a couple of days later.
Another thing that is very impressive about Jamie is her knowledge about all these different techniques.
I’m really happy to recommend her to anyone, and I think that all the other moms who went to see here will do the same (I might have been the only non mom) as they all seemed very happy, and very relaxed.

I had anxieties about acupuncture and needles in general. However, Jamie Takubo was very gentle, caring and professional. Also, the needles she uses are very fine and whatever she does with them I barely feel any discomfort at all. What I do feel is relaxed! So much so that I fall asleep during the session.
I’ve been seeing her for years now and I would highly recommend her to anyone.

I am a postmenopausal woman who has received treatments from Jamie Tokubo for temperature imbalances, constipation, stress-​fatigue, and lately rather vicious hive attacks that I have had episodically throughout life. While Benadryl has helped the latter in the past, I have developed such sensitivity to this drug, I can barely stay awake at the dosage level for children and additionally suffer hangovers from it. I much more prefer the acupuncture and Chinese herbs which Jamie has provided as I can remain alert.
Last spring, while suffering a particularly painful jaw that affected my hearing and energy levels due to an infected molar, Jamie’s acupuncture treatments helped me to manage the pain and hasten the healing in conjunction with the dental treatment.
I have had acupuncture in the past from other practitioners who have also been excellent, knowledgeable and insightful. What makes Jamie Tokubo unique for me is her comprehensive knowledge of technique, her adept manner with the long needles, which are effective for my needs, and her thoroughness of treatment AND follows up.

I have been seeing Jamie for about 7 months and really enjoy going to her for treatments. She takes Blue Shield insurance which was a must for me and she has worked directly with my insurance company which has been a huge help. She’s worked tirelessly on my skin issues which have improved significantly in the last few months.
Jamie is kind, gentle and incredibly knowledgeable about acupuncture as well as diet, lifestyle and other holistic methods to support the work she is doing which I have found incredibly helpful. She really helped me get over a nasty cold recently with cupping which was AWESOME! When I leave I always feel refreshed, relaxed and energized. Whether you are a first-​timer or have had other acupuncture treatments Jamie is a great practitioner. It’s also nice that she works closely with the Chiropractors in the office so if you need a little adjustment as well this is perfect «one-​stop-​shopping!»
