US Post Office

Went to this post office for the first time and it was the first «worst» experience ever in Alameda. Some lady (the only lady working there.) She was older with glasses and looked like she took a sheet of acid at woodstock in the 60’s, and hair was gray and in a ponytail. She was very rude and condescending towards me. When I asked her politely to please finish the transaction, she looked at the lady that was in line and rolled her eyes while shaking her head. Then she asked me if I lived in San Francisco, and i told her that it was non of her business and to please finished the transaction so I could be on my way. Then her friend (customer in line) said «Omg you are so crazy and rude». I turned to the lady in line and ask her politely to mind her own business. Then she started to attack me too. So the lady who’s the cashier and the lady in line stated calling me crazy and attacking me. SO, I asked the cashier what her name was. and told her i was going to file a formal complaint. She told me she wasn’t going to give me her name, and that because I was going to call USPS consumer Dept. she was going to call 911… I told her she cannot treat or talk to me the way she did… and that she cannot instigate other customers to attack me. Then she said «well I’ll call the cops». I told her to be my guest. I did nothing wrong. SO, I waited for the police to come and tell them what happen. The officer was nice and polite and ask for my side of the story. Afterwards I asked for a case number to make my complaint formal to usps with the incident #. While I was waiting for the officer to write down the number. the supervisor (who showed up after the fact) was glaring at me. Never once asked me what happen. Never once seem concerned with the customer service I received. The supervisor never asked if I was ok, or even apologize for my experience. SO, I went ahead and reported her too. The supervisor asked the police to have me never do business there again. WHAT?.. I was the one being attacked, and she had the audacity to tell me I couldn’t go there anymore. when I was the one clearly being attacked. SO .I made a formal complaint and told the consumer Dept for USPS that office EVERYTHING. They owe me a apology AND IT Looks like I’m going to get one. The lady that works there (Clerk #01) is very unprofessional and very rude and disrespectful. I will tell the community about this experience and my friends at the east bay local newspapers. Don’t ever bite the hand that feeds you. It’s very sad that customer service has gone down to the slums. What comes around goes around. I don’t think a person like her will last long with the attitude she has.

Are you kidding me? What a waste of my tax money. I’m already 20 minutes in line and the postal worker is on the phone. Absolutely no movement. There is a sign that states «no cell phones» and there she is talking away not helping anyone. Why am I paying for her salary?

Not that the post office would ever read this or even care, but I have been coming here more often to mail items and the experience has been horrendous. I get the lines are going to be there at times and that workers are unfriendly, but the thing that made me upset was the inconsistency of closing times for lunch. If it is 1 – 2:30 PM, why do you post a sign that says be back at 2:45 PM. It’s only 15 minutes, but time is a valuable thing.
I will be back because I have no other choice.

Their scale is inaccurate. It weighed my package at 4 lb 12 oz, when my scales at home all weighed it around 3 lbs. That’s 1 lb 12 oz over. When I got home I checked all my scales comparing and with weights cans and they all showed correct within an ounce. I only had package weighed their because I thought I might be over 3 lbs, but to my surprise it’s 1 lb 12 oz over. I had her check it, she said it was fine. I know there’s no recourse with the US Post Office if their scale overcharges, so the best I can do is Unilocal this problem. If the scale is wrong, which I firmly believe it is (and you can’t even see the weight from the customer’s side of the counter) and depending on how long it’s been wrong, it could have over charged customers 10s of thousands of dollars in the last tear. Just as Honey Well meters had errors that over charged customers in the utility’s favor, I am concerned if this error in the Post Office’s favor is a little too convenient.

Had a sign up saying closed 1 – 2:30pm for lunch. I show up at 3:10pm. Doors are locked, lights off. Get Starbucks. Show back up at 3:20pm. Still closed. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???

Negative stars if I could! Horrible that I wasted my gas, time and energy coming here. Sign says opens at 11 and it’s noon and the doors are still locked. I’m irate!

This place is hard to find — the location dot on google maps is not accurate. It’s one entire street off. It’s hidden, and they’re closed from 1 – 2.30!!! For lunch! Hour and a half?!

I have to say I was amazed today. At 3:30 pm, there was no line. Every time I’ve been here there has always been a line of few people. This is a tiny post office, and they generally only have one and at most 2 people working. You know your USPS service where they are rather grumpy and not so nice to the customers? Well, not today. I had to ship 3 things, 2 priority and 1 express, and the person even gave me a tip to save $ 3 on express mail shipping and re-​packaged it for me. Never had this level of service at USPS before, and I’ll definitely go back again.

Decided to walk here today and found out that they close lunch which happens to be an 1hr and 15min lunch. Last time I checked government offices don’t close for lunch!
How hard is it to do what every other business does and stagger the lunch breaks! And oh who knows not go for that long.

This is an updated review of a much longer rant review from over three years ago. This place hasn’t changed one bit.
I went in yesterday to send off a few small packages. I wrote a small, personal message on the outside of the packages. The lady takes the package, reads the entire message in front of me, and tells me that i’m not suppose to be writing on the outside of the package. I ask her why, and she literally says «Because some people don’t like it. Some people can be offended by some words.» I look at her with a blank stare, in shock by the stupidity, but she continues «sooo we’ll have to cover this up.» I say «no, just give back my packages please» and I swear on everything she says, «sorry, it’s because of ⁹⁄₁₁.»
Of course, I go to the main post office on Shoreline and mail the same packages out just fine.
So just be forewarned everyone– if you bring in a package to this post office that has writing on it, you won’t be able to send it out because of ⁹⁄₁₁. Or someone might be offended. Or some time wasting cockamamie bullshit excuse…

I refuse to go in this post office. The angry old lady who works here is an angry control freak. I am surprised there are not more negative reviews. She is a legendary jerk in Alameda.
Example 1:
Customers who walk up to the counter while talking on cell phonea are irritating and disruptive. But I witnessed angry old lady yelling at someone who was listening to voicemails on their cell phone. This person was WAITING IN LINE quietly listening to voicemails, and she stopped what she was doing to point at the ‘no cell phones’ sign and start yelling at him.
Example 2:
I used a credit card to purchase, she refused to take my card because on the back of my card I wrote ‘See ID’ She pointed to the part of the card that says ‘not valid without a signature’

This post office gets gold stars. It’s easy to get in here, easy to park, easy to send packages, and the people are really nice. Like some others mentioned, it’s actually air conditioned, which rocks on a really hot day. And that’s all I have to say about that.

Why am I writing a review for a post office?
Because I usually HATE the post office and waiting in line for some pissed off postal worker to feign some interest in getting the package to its correct destination in a timely fashion.
I was asked to drop some packages off to be mailed on a really, really, excruciatingly hot day. This tiny AIR CONDITIONED post office located in an alleyway off of Park had no one in it. I zipped in and out of there in less than five minutes. The post office people weren’t grouchy (unlike the post office workers at the Fillmore/​Geary office) — they were all smiles.
So now that I’ve told you about this place, please don’t go here and make it all POPULAR, kthnx.
