Just was in here last night 4÷27÷16. As I got in at around 11pm there was a line of a few people. I’m not sure how but the line moved lightening speed. I guess it is because people here likely come in for one item, like a pack of cigarettes. Interesting to note is they had Jumbo Strawberries — the biggest I’ve seen in a long time. They were on the expensive side but looked fresh. There is a large selection of food here that looks great. I never see people buying it but it all looks fresh. Perhaps they take a loss in this area? Safe feeling to me — parking in this area.

I’m a bit of a regular here so most of the staff recognize me when I come in. Which is great customer appreciation as far as I’m concerned. Several even know me by name at the pharmacy. Friendly and helpful staff. Pharmacy employees always courteous and work as quickly as possible to get your prescriptions filled. Cashiers in front also work as quickly as possible to get you through and on your way. Thanks for the great service.

There’s not a lot that melts my black heart, but the overall kindness of the store employees and pharmacy staff at this particular Walgreens merits a Unilocal review. Considering this is a 24hour Walgreens store AND pharmacy, this location is about as good as it gets. I went to pick up a few things at 1am… the dark hours of the night when people are overworked, underpaid, and generally not«bright eyed and bushy tailed» to be working retail.(I’ve been dying to use that phrase in a serious context so what a perfect opportunity.) Instead of expecting to be greeted with an eye roll or sigh walking in so late, I walked in the store and was greeted by two friendly employees. –The night manager was on the floor(already a good sign) with a smile on his face and didn’t disappear for the entire 45 minutes of my store visit. –There were two employees stationed behind the cashier ready to help, even though the store was rather empty– I appreciate not having to locate a cashier while balancing two baskets full of heavy shampoo bottles, cereal, etc. –There was an employee sweeping up the floor(yay for cleanliness) and re-stocking the shelves later on(This store has a large selection of everything a drugstore should have). –The pharmacist was such a saint!!! I had a small problem filling my prescription, but she was helpful, patient, efficient, and SOOO incredibly sweet and friendly throughout the entire mess that I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t give her the recognition she deserved. Remember— This is a 24hr pharmacy in Alameda. Although it’s in a nice area with a huge parking lot, it’s the ONLY one open 24hrs so it gets a lot of traffic from shady neighborhoods nearby. However, the lovely Carol Ann who was working at pharmacy treated everyone with the same courtesy and respect that she showed me. –The store was in a safe location and I shopped and filled my prescription without having to hold my pepper spray around. The fact that there’s enough employees and the manager on the floor even at odd hours made the experience feel just as normal and safe as a I imagine a 2pm grocery run with my own personal bodyguard would be. 5 stars for being open 24 hours, excellent staff, safe experience, clean, well-stocked, decent location.

Over night are pretty lazy. New weekly deals start Sunday and apparently they don’t stock up until Tuesday accordingly to the over night crew.

Pretty clean store, nice parking lot so can’t complain. People that work here are pretty nice here. I had to buy a clipper card and loaded it up here and the ladies were pretty helpful.

The only thing I like this store is that it’s 7⁄24. Before making your decision shopping here, you’d better check out other supermarkets around. The Safeway next to this Walgreen’s is also 7⁄24. Prices in this Walgreen’s store is higher than most other stores. If you could find the item in other nearby stores, don’t try to go to this Walgreen’s. What’s worse is that this store puts a lot of blue price tags under the items, saying that buying some specific items would give you many Walgreen’s Award Points. Don’t trust those cute blue price tags. They won’t give the points, until you point it out to them. Don’t like this store any more after I fount it out.

When I lived within walking distance from this store the fact that it was open 24 hours and sold deli type food was great. However, the customer service is horrendous. It isn’t all the cashiers, just certain ones, and you can tell that the newer people are just as appalled at how customers are treated. As merchants are updating their credit card readers, confusion is bound to happen, but the older cashiers are not only clueless but surly. My credit card has both a stripe and a chip so I can use it as a swipe card at other merchants who don’t have the chip reader yet and I can use it as a more secure chip card at places that do. In the space of a week, Walgreens updated their card reader so that if your card has a chip it has to be used that way and cannot be swiped. This would be fine if their system was up to date and the chip reader actually worked. It didn’t and the rude cashier loudly announced to the whole front end that my card was declined and I needed to find a different method of payment. A younger cashier tried to help and apologize on behalf of the new system, but the older lady kept yelling that my card was declined. I called my credit company just to be sure and they said it was indeed on Walgreens’ end as they showed the charge, the approval of the charge, and Walgreens’ initiated reversal of the charge. Paying by cash rather than card is not a big deal, but the service was unwarranted.

This Walgreen’s pharmacy department is horrible and nurses will lose your prescription(twice) and the doctor(manager) ain’t gonna do shit about it. Just don’t send your prescription there unless you have to. They are horrible, terrible, dump, just don’t use them unless you have.

I have yet to have a good experience with the pharmacy. The last time, the pharmacy technician was very rude, sighing loudly, and rolling her eyes at all of the customers. She gave me a ten-fifteen minute ETA for my prescription to be filled, and 45 minutes later, they still hadn’t called my name. What was worse is that they kept an elderly customer waiting for her meds for even longer — I actually went up to the counter and reminded them to take care of her. They had forgotten to call her name and let her know her script was ready. I get that it was busy — I really do. But the rudeness and the eye rolling? Completely unacceptable. I just got off the phone with the pharmacy and they told me my husband’s script wasn’t ready, and they didn’t even ask for his first name. There is no way they could look up with just the last name — they always ask for a first name or date of birth. I gave her the last name and she said, «No, not ready yet,» and hung up. Ridiculous.

The Walgreens at the Alameda South Shore Center is located at the edge of the center on the corner of Otis and Park. Though the store is a few years old, it is not as bright and its aisles are not wide and spacious as the new Walgreens at the corner of Park and Tilden. Since the South Shore store is part of a shopping center, it’s busy and there is usually a line to check-out. On most visits, the cashiers are friendly and efficient. The plus to this store is that it’s open 24 hours.

Store a little out dated but serves it’s function… You can load your Clipper Card here too whereas the new Walgreens downtown Park street is bigger, brighter, but NO Clipper card machine, really?! After all that $$ spent on a new store & on the Fruitvale BART side of town you’d think they’d made sure they’d have a machine! that’s why this store gets 4 stars & the new one only gets 1!

This is only a review for the pharmacy: the only benefit is that this place is open 24 hours. That’s it. They are extremely slow and some staff can be unprofessional. Poor customer service. I would try the CVS up the street on Oak in Alemeda instead. They are much better!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Grumpy Security Guard, for not throwing all of us out on our asses when we stumbled in 30 minutes into 2014, trying to hunt down a restroom for our drunk friend. We were in and out of the store in about 20 minutes. We weren’t disruptive or rude. Just rushed in, used the restroom, and left. Mr. Grumpy Security Guard even wished us a happy new year. I suppose I would be grumpy, too, if I had to work when everyone else is out partying.

the Walgreen setup here was perplexing so i was muttering to myself: «eyes, eyes» looking for the eye lens solution. a passing walgreen associate heard me, told me it was against the far wall. So perceptive and cool! checkout was relatively quick as they had up to 4 cashiers to service«guests». checkouts: –all the older white ladies here are so cool very helpful, patient –would return BUT parking here is problematic –service FAB.

Even though this Walgreens is bigger than the one on the west end of town(1916 Webster Street), it’s an okay place to purchase necessities. I had some past issues with this store. A few years back their manager said his cashier did not shortchange me $ 5.00 when I purchased about $ 70 to $ 75 worth of merchandise. I was so pissed that I got somewhat ghetto, told them to take all their stuff back and give me my refund. Yeah, I caused a scene and got loud… hey I didn’t friggin care if the customers heard me. As I left out of the store, I made sure I was loud enough for the cashier(who was Chinese) to hear me call her a «sei chao hai». On October 8, 2013 it was AARP/senior day. I was supposed to get 20% off on their brand items(Walgreen, Delish, Nice, etc.) and 15% off on named brand items. Cashier told me the adjustments were made, but the receipt did not indicate so. Even the manager of the store sided with her. My hubby and I were here due to convenience since we had just left out of Safeway. He needed a box of Claritin D for his allergy. Well, we were bad because we forgot to show them the Walgreens rewards card and had to pay $ 2.00 more than the sales price. Customer service is about a 2.5 stars here, but I’m gonna round it up to 3 stars for convenience and the merchandise they carry at this store.
