Specialties
Inspired in part by the coworking and Localism movements, BEAHIVE is a new kind of collaborative space for work and community, the only of its kind in the Hudson Valley.
At the most basic level, we provide a shared, creative work environment for entrepreneurs, the creative class, microbusinesses and consultants.
We also plan programs and events to inspire, educate and bond members and the community: personal and professional development workshops, seminars, social and cultural events.
Ultimately we’re supporting a Local Living Economy that is vibrant, sustainable, locally rooted and human-scale.
We’re located in Downtown Albany, right across from the gorgeous Gothic SUNY System Administration Building.
We have a mix of shared workspace and lounge areas, meeting space, desks and tables, sofas and armchairs.
History
Established in 2012.
The original BEAHIVE opened in 2009 in the heart of Beacon (NY)‘s Main Street in an artisan-renovated 1907 building. (Beacon is the reason for the «A» in BEAHIVE.)
We also have a hive in Kingston, NY (in The Lace Mill, a $ 19 million renovated 112-year-old affordable housing complex for artists).
