I spoke with a very nice man who answered a quick tax question without any resistance or pressure. Other tax professionals with whom I just spoke today would not even answer a simple question without money first.

I know many people who have used Jim Weil’s tax services for many years, so when I recently had need for tax advice, he was the logical choice. I’ve always done my own taxes, but with the recent purchase of an investment rental unit, I needed help. So I called Jim and set up a meeting.
I had done a fair amount of reading to understand the tax implications of my new holding, but I had many questions. Jim obviously knows his stuff! He readily applied all the known and anticipated financial factors involving my new property to my current tax status. There were so many aspects that he readily simplified for me, and not because they are simple concepts, but because Jim has the knowledge and experience to do so.
I walked away from our meeting with a much clearer picture on the financial aspects of my investment, and happily a far better tax outcome than I had projected on my own. In addition to Jim’s wealth of tax experience, I really appreciated his friendliness and patience with all my questions. THANK YOU, JIM!

Wow. After reading the reviews below I’m wondering which Jim these folks are speaking with. The Jim Weil my husband and I have worked with for years is always kind and professional. He’s also just exceptionally GREAT at what he does. He’s definitely straight to the point and tells you what he needs and gets the job done fast. I would recommend him to anyone who’s currently looking for a miracle working tax service.

Taxes make me nervous. So I leave them to the last minute. Jim tolerated me rescheduling because of sickness, and was able to fit me in on a saturday, during APRIL. To be fair, he had a bit of a dig at me about my lateitude, but it was nothing I didn’t deserve. I prefer to have someone who I know will always give the reality of the situation, particularly in affairs of taxation. But, my husband and I found Jim to be knowledgeable, efficient and very sincere. He spent extra time ensuring every figure on our return was verified and correct. I’m really glad to have been referred to him, I have trust that he prepared our taxes as people rather than a bunch of numbers on a screen.

Contrary to all reviews that may say otherwise, Jim Weill is a fabulous accountant! Over the last four years, he’s saved me thousands of dollars. Yes, when you call during tax season, you may get a curt answer, but it’s nothing personal. Face-​to-​face, Jim has a charming crustiness that is more likely to make people laugh if they have a sense of humor – he’s an accountant, not a salesman, and he does his job very well. He’s fast, efficient, and he has helped me consider many aspects of my business and financial life, far beyond the April 15^th deadline. I highly recommend him!!!

I went in to consult with Mr. Weil about my tax situation in the wake of a disastrous health event. I needed to figure out what papers I needed, how to coordinate with my ex-​husband, etc. I don’t think I have ever experienced such rude and condescending behavior from a businessperson. It didn’t surprise me to see that others had suffered similar treatment; Mr. Weil seems to have zero customer service sense. I was made to feel that I was not only clueless (which is largely true, I was going in for advice, but then, that’s supposed to be his service) but also that I was up to no good. I left the office near tears. Way to win a customer!

I would never use the services of Jim Weil. I probably should of hung up the phone after he answered with a «yeah?», instead of, oh I don’t know, «hello?».
He actually told me on the intake call that I shouldn’t waste his time asking him questions and that I should be billed for this call. He finished up with «so, do you want to set up an appointment or not.»
No way. What a piece of work.

Jim Weil has done my tax returns the last three years, always speedy and at a great price. I was so impressed I had him do my mother’s returns, he does them entirely by email no need to go in if you don’t have time. I also hired him for some basic financial advice where he reviewed all my investments and suggested which needed to be re-​invested for better returns. Great service.

it’s so funny how a doctor tells a patient exactly what to do, the patient does nothing that the doctor told them to do and gets very sick, and then the patient is mad at the doctor. Peter likes all of your information at least a month before the 15^th deadline. I’ve been working with Peter since 1983. never an issue, never. but I come prepared or if I wasn’t prepared, well then you have to accept the consequences. Thank you Peter, I love you!

Peter Beall is the friendliest accountant I have ever met. I was astonished at how, even the week of 4/​15, he would hang around chatting amiably with me as if he didn’t have a care in the world.
I understand now that the reason he is the least stressed CPA on the planet is because he simply doesn’t care about getting the taxes done by the 15^th. I gave him my info by HIS stated deadline (middle of March) and checked in with him several times to make sure he had everything he needed. My taxes kept not getting done. He said he’s very busy and please don’t worry, they will get done. Then he said his printer broke, then he said, «things happen.» This continued all the way to the morning of ⁴⁄₁₄ when I asked if they would for CERTAIN be done the next day. He said yes in his most reassuring voice. I called the next day to see when I could pick them up and he said he didn’t have a chance to finish them but I can file an extension. WTF!!!
He was completely nonplussed by my frustration with him. «Why wouldn’t you want to file an extention??» he kept asking.
So I get it. Finally. He takes everybody’s taxes with no regard for whether or not he can get them done by the 15^th, because the 15^th is not really a deadline in his mind. If he would have just told me that, I would have decided he’s not the guy for me and I would have found a new accountant with no hard feelings. But the fact that he kept TELLING me they would be done when he clearly had no idea if he would really get them done makes it impossible for me to trust him again.

Absolute worst customer service I have ever received from a small business. Jim Weil was arrogant, condescending and rude in our communication with him. It’s almost as though he thought he was doing us a favor, not that we were paying customers expecting a service.
What was our offense? We had the nerve to send him our files electronically (oh, the horror!). Hellooooo… it’s 2013, most of us are familiar with how to look at a document on the screen. I was informed that he’d had it with the email documents and that he’s «not a print shop.» If he wanted hard copies of our documents, all he had to do was ask in a polite and professional manner. I believe that no matter what you have to say, you have the choice to say it the nice way or the asshole way. He chose the asshole way. Later, when he asked me a specific question, I indicated he’d be better off asking my husband (who is, after all, the one who initially met with him). His response…“you ask him.” My response? You’re fired.
My husband and I have both owned small businesses and would NEVER in a million years would talk to a client like this. I agree with the other reviewer who said «STAY AWAY.» Find someone who treats you with respect and appreciates the fact that you have chosen to pay them for their time.

I have had Peter do my taxes for years, I find him very good and quick. My husband now uses him also. We have had nothing but a good experience with him.

Peter Beall has done my taxes for the past 15 years and I have always been happy with his responsiveness and accuracy.

My husband and I have been using Peter Beall for years, and will continue. Tax season used to be stressful, but now tax season is a quick task.

I agree with the other reviews that Peter is calm and reassuring. I would absolutely hire him for Charming Conversation Partner services.
However, my tax return was prepared at the last minute and had several substantive errors that required me to pay additional taxes, when I was eligible for a substantial refund.
This happened in spite of the fact that I met with Peter in person in early February and turned over meticulous documents in mid-​March. It was frustrating and stressful to receive my completed returns 6 weeks later, literally hours before they were due.
They did correct most of the errors on the first return (except my zip code, which is still listed incorrectly on my return) for free, which is why this is a two-​star rating.
This company does not use email and does not have voicemail. They do not appear interested in accessing electronic bookkeeping records, such as Quickbooks.
I was told that they had staffing challenges the 2011 tax cycle that affected my experience. For everyone’s sake, I hope that they are able to re-​staff appropriately, but I don’t plan on returning.

I’m not surprised that Peter Beall has all 5 stars on Unilocal.
For years I’ve done my own taxes but with some personal chaos thrown into the mix, things got a bit too complicated for me. I contacted Peter Beall and set a meeting with a list of questions.
Peter met with me for the better part of an hour and answered all of my questions and more without a CHARGE. Top man Peter!

I don’t use this Unilocal account much, but I feel compelled to do so after having such a great experience with Beall & Weil Tax Service.
I worked with Jim on several occasions over the last few weeks on my fairly complicated tax filing needs. I have several streams of income and Jim sat patiently with me over the course of several meetings, totaling well over 90 minutes, to ensure that I covered all of my bases.
Jim even noticed a significant clerical error on one of my 1099 forms; upon correcting the error, I saved myself nearly $ 2,000 in tax liability. Had I not chosen such a patient and sharp accountant, I could have lost a ton of money on another person’s dumb mistake.
When my filing was complete, I was charged a very reasonable rate. I could not recommend this company more highly. I’ll definitely be returning to Jim next year; in fact, he already helped me anticipate my 2011 liability so that I can plan my finances better this year. Thanks, Jim!

I’ve worked with Jim Weil since the early 1990s, when an old employer forced its employees to get involved with some tricky tax stuff (long story). Ever since then, through complex years & simple years, a tax packet has arrived like clockwork, and Mr. Weil’s been available for phone or in-​person consultations throughout.
One time during the dot com boom he urged me to invest in the stock market, but besides that his advice has always been spot on (and it’s not as if the stock market DIDN’T continue climbing for years afterwards).

We have used Jim Weil to do our taxes for 6 years, after he was recommended by a friend. His services have always been great.
I am self employed with many different sources of income and our family taxes are complicated by other factors, but the Beall and Weil tax service always maximizes our return.
Reasonably priced, quick and efficient, Jim always has always had time to answer our tax questions as well to council us about tax implications when we bought our first home.
Jim is direct and to the point, especially in March and April when time is a concern, he is a professional and does «know-​it-​all» (which is a good thing) when it comes to tax issues…

I like Peter Beall a lot, and have used him for years. His tax return side manner is excellent. He is calm and reassuring, just what I usually need at tax time.
Update April 2012: Peter is just the greatest! I recommend him without qualification.
