Drew Ho, MSN, FNP-C

I recently called and got an appointment the very next day for an unexpected personal problem I encounter. I was very pleased with the receptionist setting up the appointment for me. The front staff being courteous, the facility was clean and had a very short waiting time (few minutes) to see Dr. Drew Ho. My experience overall has been great with the facility and Dr. Ho who was friendly and very professional. I have felt really happy with my recent visits and will be back to Sutter Health if need be. I don’t understand the bad reviews here?

I will never under any circumstances see this nurse again. My mom also saw him a few months ago for an unrelated illness and he told her to go home without any medication and rest. I saw him recently and all he did was NOT listen to what I said and then tried to refute any facts that I tried to tell him about my condition. He refused to prescribe any medications except simple over the counter medicines I could have bought without seeing any medical professional. He never looked me in the eye and seemed to act like he knew-​it-​all. I am sorry I wasted my time seeing him. I know several patients who are friends of mine who have left the Albany office just because when they need to get an urgent appointment the only person there available is Drew. What a surprise! Ha.

I just had my first appointment with Drew Ho and I had a very positive experience. He was friendly, patient, encouraged me to ask questions and provided good explanations. When/​if I need to return for another appointment, I would gladly make an appointment with him again.

Don’t waste your time. There’s a reason Drew’s appointments are readily available. He is completely disinterested in anyone but himself, and appears to have faulty judgment. I saw him for an urgent condition for which I needed a ASAP appointment, and he spent the entire visit telling me All.About.Himself, barely looking at my chart (transferred from another facility), ignoring most of my questions, and giving me banal medical advice of the sort you can find in Reader’s Digest. Then he went back to gushing about his amateur theater escapades.
I thought it was a reasonable alternative to see Drew when I couldn’t wait the weeks it takes to get a New Patient Appointment with one of their MD’s. But the office is dirty, disorganized, and severely understaffed. This is clearly a third-​rate establishment and Drew, though friendly, fits right in.

The good thing about my appointment is that the office fit me in same day, the staff people were very nice on the phone, and I had very little wait time to get into the room to wait for Drew Ho, thus the 2 stars.
However, when Drew arrived he said, «hey friend» and hadn’t even glanced at my chart so he was not prepared, and I had to repeat everything I had just told the nurse. I came in to discuss which vaccinations I would need for travel. He proceeded to search the online data base and told me exactly what I had already found on google. When I had clarifying questions about what was required for my trip (the reason I went to the office), he just looked everything up and made generalizations. I would have appreciated if he had at least come to the appointment prepared. I was literally the only one at the office at that time, so it’s not as if he was too busy.
Drew then started to ask me various questions about my health and well-​being (stress level, weight maintenance, general health), which I appreciated. I am a really health individual with a high amount of work-​related stress, and I am a normal weight, but I did express, half-​joking, that I’ve been trying to loose my belly and haven’t been able to, despite diet and exercise. Drew handed me a pamphlet that basically told me to eat more vegetables and then turned to me and said, «you know, you ARE 33 now and your body is beginning to break down». I was totally shocked! This nurse was utterly ill-​prepared to provide care for me AND he now just told me that I’ve basically reached my prime and from here on out I’m dying.
Finally, he was very vague about directions to get my vaccinations, and told me I could come into the walk-​in lab any time. However, when I called the lab, they said they don’t do vaccinations. So, I had to call the office back and wait for a half hour on the phone for them to find me a place outside my insurance to get these vaccinations that Drew apparently «wrote me a prescription for». So, basically, Drew didn’t even help me get what I needed! He totally gave me incorrect directions.
Drew was not-​prepared, not at all knowledgable about vaccination procedures, offensive, and the epitome of the jaded health professional. I hope that this review is useful and that he gets a lot more experience coming to appointments prepared and actually caring about people.
