Ichiban Restaurant

Perplexed by the bad reviews. Quick dinner before show at Linda across the street was just fine. Excellent orange tofu — crispy and flavorful. Huge bowl of kung pao noodles. I’d go back again.

Ordered for delivery today. Average speed. Disappointed with the crab Rangoon they were completely flattened out and not much crab flavor. Beef teriyaki sticks were terrific!!! Overall mediocre.

The only reason this place received one star from me is because that was the only way that it would let me write a review. I want to let all the people know that before you spend a dime at this place drive to your local grocery store and buy ramen noodles and some shrimp, chicken, or beef to add to it and you have already prepared a meal that is 100% better than anything you over pay for at this so called restaurant! Not only was this dog food horrible but it took over an hour to get it so it was ice cold! So thnks for that guys! Much appreciated!

My girlfriend and I placed a delivery order at Ichiban this evening and our experience was pretty poor. We waited an hour to receive our food (which was not the problem at all because that’s pretty standard for Albany delivery places), but when we got it, it was packed so poorly in the bag that the two Miso soups I had ordered had come open and leaked out. When the driver handed us the delivery, the bag was literally dripping with soup. It was leaking out all over the floor in my house.
As if this poor packing job wasn’t bad enough, we opened up the bag to find that they had forgotten to include the rice with our order of Chicken with Broccoli.
I called to try to get the situation resolved, however the person I spoke to one the phone told me they were very busy and didn’t really offer me any sort of actual solution to the problems I had experienced with my order. I asked if they could please have the driver come back and bring rice so I could eat my food. They told me that they could do this, however it would take at least another hour before bringing it to me. I said an hour would be unacceptable, because I wasn’t going to wait that long to eat my food. After this, he changed the story and said the driver could get back here with the rice in 20 minutes. I waited… for another full hour before the driver showed up with the rice… by this time I’d been waiting for 2 hours to eat my food.
At this point I just asked for my card to be refunded, which they agreed to do.
The worst part about all of this is that none of the people I spoke to seemed the least bit apologetic about any of this. I felt like I was annoying them by expecting the food to be delivered the way that I ordered it and for wanting it corrected after pointing out that they’d made a mistake. They just kept using the fact that they had a lot of orders to deal with as an excuse.
With so many other options for Chinese food delivery in Albany, I probably won’t be ordering delivery from Ichiban again.

Unbelievably lousy delivery service. They can never deliver to the correct section of Albany Medical Center, even after telling them 3 times and calling the restaurant back to track down the driver. It took an hour and a half to get our lunch. It arrived a mess, with condiments spilled all over the bag, and our free spicy scallop roll wasnt there either. So long, Ichiban.

Absolutely terrible I ordered the spicy tuna roll and got two different pieces of sushi in my order and either was what I ordered. Also got an avacado salad and specifically asked for ginger dressing instead I got some nasty brown sauce over avacado with absolutely no lettuce. Delivery took over an hour and they actually gave our order to another person and we had to track it down thanks for the headache! We won’t be back

I ordered from these guys today for my office through grub hub. And it was at least 6 different orders. 4 people asked for hot sauce and we got none. People also asked for duck sauce and soy sauce and we got none. And on top of that after I gave a tip online. The delivery driver had the audacity to ask for a tip, and once again I gave a tip online. He had a terrible attitude, swore at my Co workers, and made a huge scene when I tried to explain to him that I gave a tip online. I’m never ordering from here again, and neither is anyone else from the department.

I love ordering from Ichiban. They have great options and are always accommodating. And, you can not beat their sushi! If you have to make any adjustments to orders (sauce on the side, omitting an ingredient, etc.) it is best to use the online ordering app rather than calling. The must haves: smoked salmon roll, sweet potato roll, Thai red curry chicken and salmon teriyaki. It can be pricey but the food is always fresh and delicious.

I will not be ordering from Ichiban again! I placed an order for delivery & the order never showed up! Despite my 3 calls asking where my food was and they assured me each time that it was on it’s way. Being that I didn’t place my order until 8pm it was well after 11pm before I realized the food wasn’t coming so I went to bed starving:(pretty sad they can’t tell the truth when you call 3 different times! If I could give zero stars, I would!

Went to Ichiban ⁹⁄₁₈ for dinner. The place had such a strong mothball odor that we almost left immediately. The food was not much better than the smell. Cold sesame noodle was spaghetti in sesame water, avacado roll was flavorless and chicken dish was greasy. Ichiban used to be a go-​to for great food. Now both ambience and food are undesirable. Too bad.

My boyfriend and I order here all the time off of Grubhub and the food is average but that’s not my problem with this place. My problem is with the delivery people they don’t get out of the car and you have to go get the food. Last time I checked the whole point of delivery is to not have to leave your house. And then today took the cake, the driver again made me come to him and didn’t get out of his car. And then the icing on the cake he had the balls to show me previous orders and how much I’ve tipped him. Yes I don’t give good tips because he’s only doing half his job. I think I’m done ordering from this place.

Not a good Chinese establishment

We ordered from grub hub and this meal was the worse. My order total was different from the total when delivered. The house chow fun was made with what looked like dumpling noodles clumped together. It was horrible. The combination seafood delight was loaded with fake crab meat, 2 scallops and three shrimp. The crab Rangoon was flat and folded. Overall not happy and will not be ordering from here again!!!

This is bad. Ordered the Ika Massago appetizer. The waiter went one table over, opened the menu to investigate what I’d ordered and then came back and told me they don’t serve that dish anymore. They didn’t lost any sushi rolls in their menu, I had to grab a take out menu to see which rolls they have. I ordered a sushi box and an Alaska roll. Everything was bad. The fish wasn’t very fresh. The sushi rice was super bland. The salad bar (what sushi place has a salad bar?!) Had no lettuce and every thing else looked days old. Another customer was loudly irate about the status of the salad bar. It was really uncomfortable and honestly disgusting.

I don’t know how this place has anything more than two stars at best. Ordered general tso’s chicken with pork fried rice and it tasted just as awful as the mystery Chinese served in the mall food court. The pork fried rice was honestly disgusting. The pork tasted like rubber and the rice was overcooked and dry. The «chicken» was less than acceptable at best… sauce wasn’t bad but the chicken had that mushy consistency where you bite into it and the inside is grey just awful looking. Egg roll was average. Chicken and broccoli that my friend ordered came with 3 pieces of chicken (literally 3) and about 15 florets of broccoli. Weird… they should’ve just called the meal broccoli. The best part about my meal was the can of diet coke. I’m glad I can cross this off of my list of quick Chinese/​Asian take out spots in Albany… NEXT!

My husband and I order delivery from here often. We like the chicken and broccoli, egg rolls, steamed dumplings and chicken on a stick. Delivery is quick and food is always good. I have not dined in at this place in years. But the delivery experience is good and they are always friendly and have never made mistakes with our order. Very consistent. I’m surprised at the other reviews being so poor but seem to be with the experience when you eat at the restaurant.

not a fan sorry the parking is tough also the food is avg at best. if I really have to choice I rather go to the Ichiban on western, I know they are own by the same owner but that one is newer and has more parking space. Again the food is avg not worth your time and money skip it if you can

Never had a bad experience here. Been coming here for 8 years. Semi regular.
The sushi has always been fresh. The Chinese is good too, alil pricey then regular Chinese spots but good flavor and worth the extra bucks. I always get take out. It’s a small hole in the wall. The sit down area is tiny but I have seen people in there, even young children.

I had lunch at Ichiban yesterday. The food and service was less than mediocre. I ordered soup and two sushi rolls. The soup was room temperature, not hot, not cold. When I asked for it to be reheated the server did not apologize but did look at me like I was crazy. The bowl came back hot but messy, like they had poured the soup out and then back in. My California roll was good but my spicy tuna was not. It was unclear whether they just don’t make a good spicy tuna roll or they got the order wrong. It took a long time to get our food and the check. It just felt like they thought they were doing us a favor by waiting on us. Definitely disappointing.

This place used be at alright for Chinese food, I normally order from them like once every couple weeks, Now its just awful!
My rice was cold and dry … dare I say crunchy since I couldn’t chew it .
Same problem with my sesame chicken, Which was like chewing on an eraser head .
The vegetable egg roll was literally filled with anemic looking cabbage and nothing else. I ate none of it, and pretty much threw out 27 dollars. Chinese food from anywhere else is a better option if you ask me.
