I had an awful experience with Amy. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON!!! I asked her to do haircut and highlights. She was very rude and aggressive my hair, cutting it with no combing like trimming a tree. She did highlights and as a result I end up having a reddish blond hair. Can you image my frustration!!! I asked her to put the color I have naturally– brown. She was not patient and treated each customer very awful. After everything she did to me, she asked me to pay $ 90!!! For what??? Please ladies, if you respect yourself, Do Not go there!!!

Got my haircut from Ashley this week. She did a great job listening to what I wanted and took care of the rest. The end result was an amazing looking cut. She also gave some suggestions since my hair is very thick. I will be going back in the future. Give it a try. Can’t beat the quality and the price.

I’ve had Amy and Ashley both cut my hair multiple times and I’ve been happy with the results. Both ladies are fun to talk with and they are always aiming to give you the perfect look.

I came here for the first time today. My hair was just a scary mess and anything would have helped. Ashley, the stylist, took it beyond anything into something and did a fabulous job. SO much so I tipped her 25% because I was so grateful. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly and included no hard sell (or any sell whatsoever) of «product.» I appreciate that too. So two thumbs up for Meilin!!! And happy to support my local businesses on top of that!

Called in Sat morning and got an appointment for two of us at noon. It was busy but they got my 10 yr old daughter and me sitting next to each other within 5 minutes. (I’ve been to places where they seat us 2 chairs away from each other and that’s not cool.) I rolled with the rotations of whomever was available with the next procedure for my pedicure. My daughter had the same woman with her throughout for her pedi and fingernail shape/​polish/​design. The experience didn’t make me feel exactly relaxed, but all in all the staff were nice, all was fine, we’re not picky and our nails look good. For the price, I’ll be back.

A wonderful place. I’ve been going to them for a dozen years, since before they moved to this location. I cannot say enough kind things about them and their wonderful attention to their customers.

Laid back family owned joint. Amy cut my hair, a longer A-​line cut as I had specified, without any issues. The price of the cut was reasonable as well, $ 25 was my bill… I’d come back here for quick and basic maintenance cuts. Everyone is also super nice, especially Amy!

Good value for money. Can often do walk-​in during daytime. The first time I was there I had a different stylist, and it was a better cut. I have wavy (not curly) hair, and it perplexes most stylists, including this most recent one. I think English is a problem for some stylists and interferes with communication about the subtleties of a cut. The blow-​out was really beautiful each time, try them for a special event ‘do!
I also had them do my roots as an in-​between support until I can get to my regular salon. The quality of the color chemicals is not as high as expensive places, but seems fine as an in-​between, and is better than my at-​home drugstore jobs.
I would try this salon again, but not that stylist.
Friendly service and good value, pleasant, unpretentious and clean environment. They have loyal clientele, from what I observed as i waited for my color to process.

I came here for a massage by Wei Lin because of a Groupon. I haven’t had that many massages in my life but this was by far the best. When he started out I didn’t think he was going to use enough pressure. Boy was I wrong. I told him the harder the better, and I feel like I was run over a truck — but in the good way! After an hour I’m like a limp noodle. He found knots in muscles I didn’t know I had (the muscle, or the knot) and worked them over like a champ. I wish I’d done this a long time ago. I will be back!

First let me say that Amy is very personable and nice. We had a great time chatting and I like her very much.
Unfortunately not so much my haircut. I have been with the same hair cutter in Oakland for 15 years and due to circumstances had to find someone closer, which is how I found this salon on Unilocal.My hair was a bit shorter than the woman in the red top pictured, and it ended up being even shorter than the «after» pic of Ming. When I take my glasses off to get my haircut I can’t see Anything. And Amy said she was going to cut my hair short here and here. Okay. Initially I was shocked and then thought okay a dramatic change can be good and it is kinda cute.
But when I got home and washed my hair I discovered that the hair on the left side is shorter than the hair on the right… and the left side won’t lie down flat because some of the hairs are only an inch long and so it is a big battle with lots of hair product.
Now instead of having a haircut that I can wash, blow dry and be looking good for a few days with minimal time and effort, I have to wash my hair every morning and fight with it. If I was 15 I would be in high drama, but being older I just sigh and know that it will grow out and be okay in a couple of weeks.
So I wouldn’t not recommend Amy, but if you are new then I would just say to be careful and be really clear about what you want and don’t want. The 2 stars is reflective of my unhappiness with the haircut. I would give more stars for cleanliness, price, friendliness, and parking.

What a great hair day! Found this awesome place last minute and it’s conveniently located right by my house to boot. Amy does a very meticulous and thoughtful job, she is one of the best hair stylists I have ever been to! I have been to some very nice and high-​end salons and have paid a pretty penny only to walk out not feeling very pretty! Amy took so much time to make my hair look great and she is just the sweetest and cutest lady. I also walked out of there paying half the price you would pay for the same quality! This is happily my new place and I would reccomend Amy to anyone looking for a great sylist!

I believe Ashley cut my hair. She listened to everything I wanted, explained what it would look like, put up with my nervousness/​skittishness (my last hair cut was terrible), and made my hair look a better version of what I wanted.
The whole time she was very nice, I’m not very chatty and she didn’t try to force me to be which I appreciated. The shop was clean and looked nice, soft music in the background. All and all a wonderful experience and it only cost 25 $.

I don’t have much, but they always seem to make it look like I do!
They do a great job at a great price, and always friendly.

I’ve been going here 3 years & have no interest in going anywhere else. Amy cuts and highlights my long hair for ½ what I used to pay ($ 300) at ritzy salons on 4^th Street in Berkeley. And she does the same high caliber work!
Amy’s really good with color advice & does skillful trimming. Seems like Ashley does nice work as well, from what I’ve seen.
Amy’s a wonderful, kind, funny, hardworking person. This salon may not look fancy on the outside, but I don’t see any reason to leave.

Ended up here after another salon didn’t have an opening. They let me do a walk-​in at 2pm on a Saturday! It did take a while to get started — don’t expect that formal, big-​city prompt service here — it’s much more of a relaxed vibe. I requested Amy, since another reviewer said she does a good job with short hair, and they had me pick a look from a hair color catalog. This is the first time I’ve had short hair since 1^st grade, and I love it! Amy made some comments about what cut would look good with my face and neck situation, and took the time to tell me a bit about how to care for the new ‘do. I also got to practice my Mandarin, which made me feel super at-​home.
As an extra bonus, the other folks here (regulars, I presume — it felt like everyone knew everyone else) were lovely in giving feedback and suggestions. It cost $ 20 for just a cut, w/​o shampooing or anything.
TLDR: Great haircuts, cheap, feels like home. None of that fancy polished stuff.

As promised, I went to the salon to have my hair cut. Ashley did exactly as I asked, and the results were great! The pictures I posted show my haircut right after I blowdried my hair. I didn’t use a curling iron or anything, just my brush! I’m lazy when it comes to styling my hair so the cut was perfect!
Ashley took her time, and spent a lot of time making my haircut even. I can also tell that it will look great as it grows out. I’ll be returning to Ashley in the future!

I was very happy! My hair looks gorgeous (I think ;)).
Amy cut and highlighted my hair, and she was very friendly and nice. She paid attention to detail and did not rush through the process. She said she’d have over 20 years of experience, and it really showed.
The color was just the perfect shade of blonde (I always have trouble describing the exact color I want, and Amy was one of the few hairdressers who was spot on!), the length was good and it’s growing out nicely (with regards to both bangs and highlights).
I’ll definitely be coming back!

Same day service a definitely plus. Amy is intuitive and so pleasant and knew just what to do with my hair without me having to say much. Good attention to detail with my pixie cut which is so crucial when you have short hair like mine. Crazy affordable.

It is a pleasant shop and the ladies are nice. Plus they opened at 9 this morning so that I could get a manicure before work and another customer could get her highlights retouched.
But they are getting 2 stars because this manicure is really sloppy.
I won’t be back — next time I’ll go back to the Penicure place in San Leandro.
