While running the top mattress store in San Francisco on Yelp, (the one on the corner of 9th and Folsom) Joe dreamed of creating a store that sold more natural materials that were made in the USA, but still affordable. He understood it is the retailers’ responsibility to build a low overhead business model to keep prices low, be strategic in marketing avenues to not overspend, and to be honest in all claims to keep consumers safe. Joe scoured the country in search of USA made brands and found small manufacturers who put people over profit, and the result is Nest Bedding. Mattress shopping can be really tough-it’s hard to get a feel for what each one is like, in a crowded showroom. Nest Bedding is the antithesis of that; it’s a quiet, uncrowded, lovely space. Plenty of options to find what you need, but not so many that you’re overwhelmed or confused by the differences.
And then there’s Amber. She couldn’t have been more helpful or pleasant to deal with. She really listened to what I was looking for, and made recommendations on which mattresses to try. Then she left me alone, gave me space and time (it was such a relaxing, nice experience, and the mattresses were so comfortable that I very nearly fell asleep!)
I came to Nest after deciding to return my recently purchased mattress from one of the big-​name stores. I had no idea it was possible to get a made-​in-​the-​US (and made to order) mostly-​natural mattress for basically the same amount I had spent on the chain store’s private label model.
I expected to like the (more expensive) latex mattress, but after Amber suggested I try the memory foam model too (I didn’t think I’d like memory foam) I ended up with the Alexander Soft mattress. In about a week, it was delivered to my doorstep.
I love my Alexander mattress, but was confident that even if it didn’t turn out to be perfect for me, Amber and Nest would make sure I got the sleep experience I needed.
Also check out their Easy Breather pillow — I fell in love with them the day I went to try out mattresses. They’re filled with very finely-​shredded memory foam, and you can adjust the fill level to fit your own personal Goldilocks factor (not too firm, not too soft… «just right»)… they’re fantastic!

My husband and I needed a new mattress so desperately that on occasion I found myself sleeping on the couch. Not from fighting with my hubby, but fighting with my no-​good mattress. After finding the couch uncomfortable, one night I even contemplated checking into a hotel. That is when I finally elevated our need for a new mattress to acute crisis level. When I couldn’t lift the toilet seat cover one morning due to severe lower back pain from sleeping in a crevasse in the mattress, I lost it and demanded a new mattress, stat!
We immediately went to Sleep Train, but didn’t find quite what we were looking for. I was eager jump into any new bed, but luckily my sage husband wanted to weigh a few options. That weekend lead us to Nest. We were already interested in a chemical conscious product, since you do spend so much time in the thing, with your face pressed into what may not be the safest thing to have right next to your body. Walking into Sleep Train, we were definitely both put off by the smell of the off gassing, so walking into Nest and not smelling anything was a major plus.
We were immediately helped by Sakura, who was very knowledgeable and not a pushy seller at all. The third try on the ‘Honest Beds Cool Foam Sleeper’ in plush was the winner. It satisfied my need for firmness with my husband’s preference for something slightly softer, and as he sleeps warm, the cool sleeping aspect was another plus on the already tipping scales. The mattress uses wool as the flame retardant, and makes for a nicely tufted and comfy top. We left the store to think about it, only getting as far as the sidewalk before I insisted that we just go back in and buy it.
Purchase, delivery, set up (including hauling away of the evil mattress, which I hope was burned) were all flawless. Our quality of sleep (and therefore our quality of life) is astronomically higher. I basically sat and slept in it all weekend after it was delivered, luxuriating in the somehow plush but firm feeling.
This was one of the best purchases ever, and it feels good to support what seems to be an upstanding and honest company. I can’t fathom using it, but we were impressed by the return policy and obvious commitment to the customer’s satisfaction. Nest has two extremely satisfied customers in us, and our two cats who enjoy the mattress almost as much as we do!

ok… so its been 6 months or so since we bought the mattress last year. I have to say it’s golden.
So comfortable sleeping on this bed every single day. We have another bedroom equipped with the IKEA firm mattress which costed us couple hundred bucks. Every time that I had to slept on it was a disaster. I am gonna stick to my Q3 latex mattress for the rest of my life…
We need to buy another twin size mattress. and I will definitely do the Q3 again… just need to convince my husband since it is really expensive which is the only con of this product. haha
BTW, the mattress is really heavy… so after you settle it down, it would be relatively hard to move it around. We have a king size which is about 120 bl…

I would give them 0 stars if possible after the experience I have had so far. I did a lot of research online as I wanted to purchase a good quality mattress with a good warranty, and wanted to avoid going into a store and having to deal with sales people. I feel like I’m always getting ripped off and lied to when I go somewhere like Sleepy’s etc, which is why I decided to try out Nest. I don’t live near a showroom so I had to order online. I was very nervous about this and called to speak to one of the salespeople. She assured me that if I wasn’t happy I would easily be able to return the mattress and the box spring with no problems. I received my mattress and am not happy with it. It’s much firmer than I had hoped for. I called to discuss a return. I was transferred to 5 different people, all of whom said they weren’t able to help me, finally reached someone who was able to help me, only to be spoken to as if I were an idiot and told that no refunds/​returns can be offered in my area. I was told I will have to donate the mattress and provide proof of donation, at which time they will determine the allowed refund amount. The box spring is also 100% nonrefundable even though it is unopened. Please beware when ordering a nest bed as their policies are incredibly deceitful.
After this incident I received an email from the owner Joe stating that I was out of line requesting a refund after not giving the mattress more time, and that the best they can offer me is a mattress topper free of charge. No thank you. I will be sure to go elsewhere from now on.

This place is awesome. Exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful and oh some comfortable toxic free mattresses. The salesperson Amber was extremely knowledgeable, had zero ounce of pushy, and was so very patient with our 2 year old while my husband and I tried out all the beds. To the point that I think we could have taken a nap and she would have entertained our little spitfire until we woke up (not a bad idea)… I digress. We found the perfect bed and even fell in love with the pillows not because we were up sold but because the product sells itself. I can not wait to set up the new bed and finally get that sleep I’ve missed out on for so many years!

I am always skeptical of businesses which have such outstanding scores especially those which are only online. Therefore, I did a bunch of research on Nest not only for their online store but also their brick and mortar. I decided to purchase a mattress from their website. When I realized I made a mistake entering my address the folks at customer care worked with me to correct the mistake with the shipping company so I could receive my mattress on time. Overall the shopping experience was great and the product itself is thus far the best mattress I have ever owned. Great customer service, good selection of higher quality bed products than you can get at most places this side of keetsa. We got a pillow with organic cotton wrapping and natural latex strips on the inside. We opted against the memory foam one for the same price. It’s also made with the best possible ingredients that you can put into a pillow, but the organic one was even better. Pillows only last one to five years, depending on how gentle or rough you are on your pillow. This one, however, can have more filling plopped into it with an easy to find tiny zipper. That can extend it’s life! Plus, a good pillow extends everyone’s life!
Nest knows that it’s products are the best available, making customer service simple as can be. That doesn’t mean that they don’t pride themselves on making sure the customer is always right.

Not only was my mattress-​buying experience Not Miserable (which would have been good enough for me), it was actually Thoroughly Enjoyable thanks to Awesome Amber, the great products, and the lovely showroom. Amber was a delight to work with — she asked all the right questions, had all the answers, was patient, made great suggestions, and ultimately found the perfect mattress/​topper/​pillow combo for me. And she’s such a sweetheart that I ended up staying longer just to chat.
I’d been avoiding replacing my old mattress for, oh, the past decade or so because I know how miserable mattress shopping can be. Over the past few months I’ve done a ton of research, learning about the existence of latex mattresses and online mattress sellers (like Casper and Leesa). Ultimately, thanks to great sites like The Mattress Underground, I was led to Nest Bedding. All my hours of online research paid off. Nest is a wonderful small local business with great products and customer service — the kind of business I’m happy to support.
I ended up with the Q3 Medium Blended Queen mattress with the 1-​inch Love bed topper (just soft enough to provide some cushiness for this side-​sleeper, but not to cause me to sink into it and get stuck like a turtle on her back). I just woke up from my first night on it, and aaahhhhhhhh. It’s heavenly.
I wasn’t even shopping for a new pillow, but I fell in love with the tester Easy Breather pillow and couldn’t leave the store without one. Best pillow I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried a lot of expensive pillows.
And of course I had to treat my new mattress to new sheets — Nest’s Woven Tencel sheets are soft and cool.

After buying one of the new online start-​up mattresses, I was underwhelmed… so I went back online to search for other options, where I found mention of Nest Bedding’s new Love Bed line. I was pleased to find there was a Nest Bedding showroom right in the East Bay where I could actually try-​out their mattresses. Amber was awesome, and after talking to me for a while about my sleep habits, she steered me toward the Alexander line. I love that they have a soft, medium & firm option rather than the one-​size-​fits-​all approach of most online mattress companies. Prices are impressive considering the quality… I highly recommend stopping by. My mattress is ordered and I look forward to giving it a try (for real) as soon as it arrives!

Bought my first grown up bed here last weekend. So refreshing to not have a hard sell and the mattress selection is just right, prices fair, and quality high. Sales people know their stuff and after visiting 5 stores in the area, the shopping and relational experience was significantly more pleasant here than any of the others.

This is the best place to find a mattress. Hands down.
We looked EVERYWHERE and were being very picky about our next mattress and were not pleased with our options. We even went so far as to buy a mattress at another store only to return it the next day (unwrapped luckily) after doing a little research and finding out we were lied to about materials and location of production (place rhymes with pizza). I was really starting to lose hope.
Enter Nest Bedding!
They had everything we were looking for, were super friendly (not in an obnoxious way), knowledgeable, and there was zero sales pressure. I agree with Cristina’s review 100% and won’t repeat all the details.
It has been a few years now and I still LOVE this mattress and pillows. It may be a little too comfy as I have a hard time pulling myself away in the morning.

I could not be happier with Mike and the folks at Nest Bedding. Approximately 2 months ago I purchased an Outlast Memory Foam Mattress, by Bed in A Box. It received really good reviews and Nest Bedding was the closest showroom that was displaying the brand. After visiting the store and trying out almost all the beds, we decided to make our purchase from Nest. Mike really took great care of us, and made excellent suggestions with pillows to compliment the new bed.
About a month after our purchase and sleeping in the bed, my wife and I noticed that the cover was not the same as the we tried in the store and did not have the same cooling sensation that we like originally. I called Mike to discuss, and he called the manufacturer for us. After sending a couple of photos to him, Mike called me personally and let me know that he would be sending out a new bed cover free of charge. It was at my house the very next day and works perfectly.
Again, I could not be happier with the sales, service and most importantly for me, comfort. I would recommend this store to anyone, and I will be back in the future!

I bought a cal-​king eco-​bamboo memory foam bed @4 years ago at a home show. Since then, the bed has gone south… literally.
My back has been hurting from the impression that has formed in the mattress. I have difficulty even rolling over because there is a ridge in the middle where apparently the foam is still firm. Oh, should I mention that for the past four years it seems like I have been getting headaches every morning. The off-​gassing never quite went away.
Was I to spent the next 5 – 10 years feeling like a bout with Tyson upon waking in the morning? I think not.
So, I checked Unilocal,and Sleep Like the Dead and The Mattress Underground for good reviews. I came upon Nest. In Albany, CA. A mere 3 hours away. I had an upcoming trip that timed out to make the additional hour journey to Nest Bedding
Mike spent 1+ hours with me discussing the different mattresses.
I chose a Q3 blended latex with a soft topper. And 2 side sleeper pillows. They arrived first and the order was wrong. Only one came and it was a back sleeper king. The owner, Joe, himself responded to my email. And so fast… I barely hit the send button before there was a response. «Keep the pillow –the shipper mixed it up but we will make it right.» Wow… customer service.
No haggling. Remember what that was like?
The bed arrived. We put it together. It actually smelled good… like a spice — like nutmeg or something. I have had my first night’s sleep and my back is already feeling better.
I have just one complaint. What… no Central Valley store?!
Final thought: I hope that as Nest gets bigger because you know it will that they will continue such stellar customer service.

I love the organic cotton bedding at this store, in particular the Organics & More «NatureSoft» sheets. They are extremely well made, soft, organic cotton … best of all they are US made of US grown organic cotton! I could not believe that the prices were so affordable. Under $ 120 for a set of CA King sheets.

Well I’m a believer…
The Nest was legit to say the least!
It’s located off the main drag in Albany/​Berkeley. As you walk in the have each side of the show room lined with beds. These beds are priceless. All Organic — Natural and plush — Extra Plush. Forget Sealy, Forget Posturepedic, Forget Sterns and Foster (who names a bed after themselves) — it’s all about the Bed in a Box.
The selection was plentiful, the service was great and the return policy is fabulous!
Can’t wait till I get mine!
